My Remington 597 has been jamming fairly often since I bought it. Also I was gifted a 597 that was rapid fired until the extractor broke. That one was a mess. Here is how I got it running smoothly, please like, subscribe, comment and ring the bell!

It's a semi auto, so High Velocity rounds work best, secondly, upgrading the hammer and extractor with the Valquartsen kit transforms the rifle, improves cycling no end.

My FLX came with 2 Promags and right off the 1st one multi FTFed on me then I had to use a screwdriver to pry it out. They're crap mags and went in the trash. The factory 10 rounders have never failed me. I have 4 just to keep the good times rollin. Just installed a VQ hammer and Mcarbo spring. Hoping to get out for some fun in the next couple days.

Remington does make a 25 rd mag but they tend to be not super easy to find.

Or they did. Not sure if they still do since this rifle is discontinued.

I can fix your reliability problems very easy. Don't use those POS large capacity magazines, that is the problem.

Yep I figured out the hard way that they are trash, I believe Remington makes a 20rd mag but they are fairly expensive

They discontinued production in 2019. But it looks like eBay has them for 13 plus shipping www.ebay.com/itm/333499485741

when these first hit the market they had to be the worst .22 made at the time just my opinion tried different brands of ammo different mags and even went as far as buying A few new rifles and still nothing more than A JAM-O-MATIC

Over the operating rods, basically just stiffens the springs a little, but you're better off saving an extra $100 and getting a 10/22 lol

@@bigchimptactical I've hade my 597 for 20yrs. I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone to buy one. Haha. But I would like to get it to cycle better. Thank you for the information. Great video.

@Joey Lopina thank you, I appreciate it! I have another more extreme idea, but I need to get my drill press setup first. The bolt looks like a casting to me. I bet the holes that thr guide rods run through are rough, I think I'm going to try reaming them out a little, not really removing a lot of material just to clean up the holes some...

@Joey Lopina I would also say stick to factory mags too. The pro mags are absolutely garbage and they will not respond to you if you try to invoke their 'lifetime warranty '

@@bigchimptactical 22lr is so dirty! My promags suck. Even the stock metal 10rd box sucked after hundreds of rounds thru them. I took them apart, gave it a nice sonic bath, oiled the springs and inside a bit. And also polished the outside. They slide in really nice now. But that's about all one can do to them.. I'll try the shim trick next week or so. I also plan on polishing the bolt a bit, especially where the guide rods slide.
