Everytime you mount a round object in a chuck the roundout will be .001 to .003 (thousandth out) . THE OUTSIDE HAS NO RELATION TO THE Lands and grooves in the barrel. What was the total accuracy gain/loss before and after? The only improvement that can be made is recrowning the muzzle.
@@billjue1753 with the same barrel, same PTG headspacer, torque, ammo load, and set up, I went from 3x5 shot groups of .5-0.8 to 0.4-0.6. Some of it is shooter fatigue. I think the accuracy gain came primarily from better contact between the face of the receiver, recoil lug and barrel nut. But at least I know I’ve personally done everything I can to it so I have that comfort, and pride to say I did it myself 😂
What makes you "gunsmiths" think Remington doesn't know how to build their rifles better than you do? Sometimes parts are machined "incorrectly" for a reason.
Oh nothing, I think Remington does an excellent job, I'm just out here seeing just how "true" this old saying of "you have to blueprint your rifle, to make it shoot good" is. With a factory action I know the rifle can shoot 5 shots under 0.4inches at 100yds, so I wanted to see if I can make it better, thats all, gotta try something before I can give a comment/reply to that saying of "you have to blueprint a rifle" right? anyways, thanks for watching
So, you think that Remington purposely makes their actions untrue to the center line of the barrel? If you do a little bit of research you will see that Remington's specs can be pretty loose compared to some other action manufacturers and people who do blue print their actions as well as match up an aftermarket quality barrel will usually end up getting tighter groups with the right skill. I cant imagine ANY case where something involving fire arms would be machine incorrectly for a reason.
Remington knows exactly how to build an accurate rifle, but that's not their game. They are in it to make money, so they absolutely cut corners to turn a profit. Their tolerances are quite poor and are getting worse as time goes on. I had one of my cheap factory Remingtons trued up and put a good barrel on it - now it shoots smaller groups at 300 yards than the factory gun shot at 100. That kind of result is very common when improving upon a mass produced rifle of mediocre quality.
