Bought one of these for my dad like 10 years ago for his Springfield 1911.. It does work a lot, it makes the 1911 a lot more fun to shoot. Idk yet if i want to do this to my R1, i like the classic look and its the reason i acquired an R1.
It does help, and it is noticeable, but partially because of the added weight up front. I use a Shok buffer in it as well and the two seem to work nicely. Obviously it's not as good as a real comp barrel, but you will still get some gas deflection, due to the fat that the bullet and gasses still leave the barrel before the slide begins to travel back. Worth it? If you can't afford a real comp barrel, sure. Looks really mean though.
Thanks, I just got one of these! It’s definitely weird and different from the traditional way of taking the 1911 apart but not by much, either way, the vid helped!
Solid review but be careful guys! I put an ebay "punisher" style comp like this one on my kimber last year and couldn't get it off. Fitting is required sometimes. I had to send mine to a gunsmith to get it off.
What do you mean it doesnt do anything? It's a weight over the barrel and gas ports venting upwards lol. Physics would say it definitely does something, weather you notice is a different question.
Can you do a video installing an extended two-piece guide rod with a Muzzle brake/compensator. No one has done this and I am having such a difficult time. Help.
@@AtoR2-ARchannel You are the best! Thank you. My barrel link is loose so it is difficult to line up when I put the pin back in. Anyway, thanks so much for the video!!!!
@@Reeltali oh without a doubt should work. I see no reason why it shouldn’t. I like the bushing comps so much more then ones that go onto a threaded barrel cause A. Eliminates the need to buy a threaded barrel and it overall just feels and performs better in my opinion.
@@grunster98 gotcha, thanks brother…last question how reliable would you rate the material??? I’ve heard stories where they blow off at the range and etc
Thanks ... bought the last custom 1911 in Canada before Trudeau f🍁cked us. TiN treated, slide lightened. Had a break as well. No accuracy effect. Trying to get it off now. My hands were hurting. Much appreciated.
They work great. I put one on my Kimber and my rock island but definitely switch that hammer and grip safety to a beaver tail setup. Then you won't need that goofy 3d printed mag extension.
@@ahmadsalma4975 It doesnt seem like I will be able to fit on onto my Rock Island 45 ACP compact. The front parts are different than the videos I see. how does the compensator stay attached to the RI model?
I would not call this a compensator, It's just a cheap way of looking like one. A real comp threads onto the barrel. All this does is give you a heavier slide.
@@gruffproductions683 yeah they’re mostly just for the cool factor, mine looked cool as hell with it on but I haven’t put it back on since. My best wishes to you that yours holds up
Not sure which brand this is, but if you need 10 rders. for 1911, I recommend Chip McCormick 10 rd. RPM (Railed Power Mag), or Wilson Combat 10 rd. mags.
Thats a realy realy sexy 45 man! Can I ask where you bought the grips and the compensator from? I wanted to order a compensator from Valkyrie Dynamics, bud they dont ship to Europe...
I bought one and all I can say for right now is the shortened plug they can come with is shit, I’m gonna try one more time with the normal one but if my slide doesn’t lock in place it’s going in the trash
