www.pakmasters.com Professional dog trainer Larry Krohn shows the proper way to condition a new dog to the e collar and make it a positive association for the dog
I am a force free trainer learning to use ecollars for my huskies. This is extremely impressive and the polar opposite of what many force free trainers believe ecollars are used for. Fantastic explanation, im very excited to give this a try :)
Good for you for implementing a safe, effective tool. Please educate the ignorant like we once may have been! Haha. Force free cost many dogs there lives, every day.....a prong or ecollar used properly could save 90% of them by communicating what is expected effectively, timely, etcThanks.
Very helpful Larry. My 13 month Border Collie is a chase nut and have just ordered a collar. I have 45 years training experience but this dog will get herself killed. I have the support of a Pro e collar trainer. She runs off to eat poop to now and then when working then refuses to recall. I will be watching your videos,Thank you . Very well explained.
Just received the e-collar I ordered. Took a while to reach me here in the UK but have it at last. Appreciate all the advice and instruction you have done here on you tube. Hope I can get it right and have success with it.
Good video. Will need to watch more than once. We just received a Garmin E collar. Our dogs know several commands but are not consistent, especially with recall. I am hoping that marking the positive response will help. Will start by marking "yes" as you suggested with treats.
watched videos he will stay on leash from now on with e collar training and with your steps im hoping he will be able to be off leash in the near future like our old dog. i just wanted him to run because i'm sure his old owners kept him crated all the time. THANKS!!
This is so helpful! I have a new dog and she is 6 months old but I believe she needs this work because the first part of her life she was feral and she is very outwardly focused on sounds, noises, etc. I bought a e-collar from Naturepets and I am using the vibration setting. So far I have not done too much but watching your video helps me have a good plan. The dog is very reactive to my cats so this is my top priority besides coming when called. What do you think of this brand? It was inexpensive. I looked at the mini educator but a this point in time, it is more than I want to spend. Feedback?
Hi. Mr. Krohn. I'm fan of ur videos. U got well explain e-collars video by far compare to others. I have 9 months old Alaskan Malamute. To be honest he is well behave dog but bit stubborn. So my question is. Does mini educator will work for my double coats dog. And if possible plz make videos with long hair or double coat dog. Because my dog main issues is that he pulls a lot wile i take him for walk. Thank you
We are getting an E collar in a few days. we rescued a one yr old pit mix. we had him for a week now. he has several issues but the biggest one is twice i let him off leash to run but he will not come back to me on command he will just run off and i had to follow him getting him back on leash is a major challenge we are having. THANKS. any info would really help. i work with him everyday in my back yard and in the house basic commands.
My GSDs recall is already pretty solid but I've just bought a mini educator to stop her moving towards and eventually chasing birds/rabbits/sheep etc. I haven't started her on the e-collar yet but this seems like the good method for a dog that already has a mostly reliable recall. When teaching the continuous button followed by come, are you eventually looking for the dog to start returning before you have chance to say come? And because my dogs recall is already pretty solid is it necessary to initially put her back on the line before starting the e-collar conditioning? Thanks
Hi Larry, Just have a question about the first stage of conditioning when you say to call dog, then tug line + press button at same time.. if dog is already quite good at recall (with no distractions) can we skip lead if he will come for sure?
Larry, could you please write out the names of those three trainers you said have been an influence on you? I caught Michael and Ivan and missed the one in the middle.
+Larry Krohn what the difference between a cheaper e-collar and the mini educater? what makes the mini educater better is the sensation from the collar different?
