Low rates would help or stop all of the proposing on landing , it helped me after I tore off multiple landing gear , and props.

On approach some of them were ballooning more than a party goods shop! When your landing is comprised, hardly anyone added more power to gain the appropriate speed and just let the aircraft go below stall speed, a go around can be a model saver also!

I know what you mean! Some of those crashes were pretty gnarly. It's always a good idea to add more power when you're coming in for a landing, just in case you need to abort. A go-around can definitely save your model if you're starting to lose control.

You're right that most scale pilots have a bit of a reputation for delivering some spectacular pilot-induced crashes, but I cant recall meeting too many scale pilots that said we are perfect! And you have to admit, there's a certain thrill in watching those moments unfold. Just remember to always fly safe and have fun out there! Thanks, a crash compilation is always entertaining, but even better it offers some learning opportunities to study what goes wrong and to think about what could have been done better. I always try to identify the “decision”point where maybe a correction could have prevented the crash. These are helpful learning clips.

Scale pilots don't actually fly enough to make better decisions and show up with beautiful unreliable aircraft. This has ALWAYS been the case in RC modeling.

While it's true that scale pilots may not get as much flight time as we'd like, they do put a lot of effort into building and maintaining their aircraft. After all, the appearance of a scale model is just as important as its flight capabilities! Of course, we all always strive to make safe and responsible decisions when flying, but accidents can still happen even with the best of intentions. At the end of the day, we all share a love of RC modeling and the excitement that comes with it. Thanks for watching my video and keep on flying!

Why are the best builders in a club always the worst pilots? I'm glad that I suck at building, it's cheaper that way! Thanks for sharing, it's always better to learn from other peoples mistakes. I've made plenty of my own.

Building and flying RC planes are certainly two different skills that for some individuals dont always mix well. Some people are better at building, while others are better at flying. Indeed. I've flown at a number of RC clubs and the trend seems to be universal, the best builders generally aren't very good flyers. There is probably a "pucker factor" involved, too, where a modeler's pride and joy, the result of months or years of building gets to be somewhat intimidating to fly. But I do understand that a crash compilation video makes it seem worse than the day to day crash events.

Thats true about nervousness. I like to build and get really nervous on maidens. Where while crashing an ARF is no fun and a loss of money, there is a lot less emotional baggage with them.

@RC Plane Tech - I totally agree! I get really nervous on maiden flights too. It's like all the time and effort I put into building the plane is on the line. Even though I know that crashes are a part of the hobby, it's still hard to see a plane I've built crash. I think the emotional baggage comes from the fact that we put so much of ourselves into our planes. We build them with our own hands, and we fly them with our own skill. When a plane crashes, it's like a part of us crashes with it. But that's also what makes the hobby so rewarding. When we finally get a plane to fly well, it's an amazing feeling. It's like we've accomplished something truly special. Thanks for your comment!

Yo I got a rc plane today for Christmas and I had a close call let me explain: I was flying it today and it crashed into the wall of somebody’s house outside and it went on the ROOF! And it went off I tried to pull up and it crashed into some rocks with the 2 engines still running perfectly 😂

The official definition of a crash, when you pick up enough pieces on the ground to refill the original box with about the same number of parts. On the West Coast, we call crashes, "Rekitting" the model.

Haha, love it! "Rekitting" is definitely a creative term for crashes! It perfectly captures the essence of picking up all those scattered pieces and attempting to rebuild the model. It's like solving a puzzle, but with a few extra challenges thrown in. Thanks for sharing this fun definition with us. Remember, crashes are just part of the learning curve in this hobby, and sometimes we end up with more creative "rekitting" projects than we planned. @@Bravo303 It's when you see or hear one going in, and you ask, "So do we need a broom" Then you know it's bad. After nearly sixty-five years of it, i either do a dumb thumb or screw something up and still crash.

Its never a good day when one goes in but i have always stood behind a few basic principles in this hobby. #1 All models go in eventually so always have a bin bag ready to go. #2 As long as i get some decent air time on a model before it finally goes in the bin I can live with it

A big problem is that the pilot can't see out the window and can't see the end of the runway to line up on it or make any adjustments on final. Put a phone where the pilot would be. It would solve a lot of issues and wouldn't change the weight and balance much if at all.

That's an interesting idea! While some camera setups do use FPV (First Person View) from a camera on the model, many pilots rely on line of sight for traditional flying. Have you tried FPV flying yourself?

Bare in mind this is a Crash compilation video, it tends to make the pilots on camera look alot worse than they actually are, most of these pilots have appeared in multiple Flight video before and since this compilation all with significantly more success in outcome than these few incidents

Posting video and films of model aircraft crashes can be counter productive. Those who seek to get model flying banned or restricted tend to look for pieces of video footage they can use to claim all sorts of ridiculous things.....

Keep in mind that most if not all crashes in this video occurred at isolated fields. Unlike many quadcopter video where the "pilots" are at non-isolated locations. I understand what you are meaning.

Very true every incident in this compilation happened either at a full size runway location or a dedicated model airfield, this significantly reduced the potential for close call or incidents with members of the public unknowingly walking into the active flight areas as these are cordoned off

It's understandable that you may have found some of the crashes in the compilation disappointing, but it's important to remember that accidents can happen even to the most skilled pilots. it's also worth noting that many people enjoy the hobby of flying RC planes and are willing to invest time and money in it, regardless of their level of expertise. Ultimately, while the crashes in the video may have been unfortunate, they don't necessarily reflect the pilots' talent or dedication to the hobby.

Looks like a heap of outright poor piloting! Recommend building a cheap basic model, to the same size and configuration as your main model, and do heaps & heaps of touch-and-goes for practice. You should be able to cut down on your crashes significantly!! Practice does make perfect!!

Je comprends que les avions de guerre miniatures ne plaisent pas à tout le monde. Mais il est important de respecter les passions des autres, même si elles ne sont pas les vôtres. Les avions de guerre miniatures sont une source de plaisir et de satisfaction pour de nombreuses personnes. Ils permettent de revivre l'histoire de l'aviation et de s'adonner à un hobby passionnant. De plus, la construction et le pilotage de ces avions peuvent être un défi très enrichissant. I understand that miniature warplanes are not for everyone. But it's important to respect the passions of others, even if they aren't yours. Model warplanes are a source of pleasure and satisfaction for many people. They allow you to relive the history of aviation and indulge in an exciting hobby. Additionally, building and flying these planes can be a very rewarding challenge.

@@Bravo303, je respecte les passions de tout le monde, je dis simplement qu'il est prouvé depuis belle lurette que tout ce qui est maquette, c'est à dire tout dans les mêmes proportions à échelle réduite, vole très mal; ça ne fonctionne pas, et surtout pour les warbirds; les pilotes le voient bien dans les vidéos, que la plupart de ces avions se cassent la gueule, en vol ou à l'attérro. C'est quand-même pas difficile de le constater. Si ils aiment réparer, tant mieux pour eux, et même après les réparations, ça ne marche pas, ils sont voués au crash, même si on est bon pilote

@pat14162 Je vous accorde à 100 % que presque tous les modèles réduits présentent des défauts de conception résultant du processus de miniturisation. Certains concepteurs de modèles réduits ont fait ce que nous appellerons la chose "courageuse" et ont conçu un warbird, mais pas à des échelles exactes, et ont peaufiné la conception pour créer un meilleur modèle à voler plutôt qu'une réplique à l'échelle parfaite à regarder. Malheureusement, ces modèles réduits « non à l'échelle » ne se vendent jamais aussi bien en raison de la nature légèrement nerveuse du modéliste typique qui refuse d'acheter quoi que ce soit de nouveau ou de différent. Personnellement, j'ai un P-51 Mustang Flying Legends de 99 pouces d'envergure, ce modèle a été conçu pour être d'abord une bonne machine volante et un beau modèle réduit en priorité inférieure, en tant que tel, il vole comme un rêve et a des performances incroyables à égalité avec certains modèles sportifs

@@Bravo303, nous sommes d'accord, c'est bien pour cela qu'ils ont créé les semi-maquettes, qui sont adaptées au modélisme, contrairement aux vraies maquettes. Le vôtre, comme vous dites, est un modèle adapté, donc réduit à des échelles différentes du modèle réel, et ça, ça vole correctement. On s'est compris

That's exactly why semi-scale models were created - they're specifically designed for RC flying, unlike true scale models that are meant for static display.
