Remote Not Working on Toshiba Smart TV - Fire TV Edition? Fixed!!

If you are having issues with your remote from the Toshiba smart TV with fire tv edition then follow these steps. Sometimes one button gets stuck and cause the whole remote to act funny or one or a few buttons dont work properly. This will sometimes fix issues with the power button itself as well. Hope this helps at least 50% of you.

OMG I had to do this over and over and there was another video where the guy said to hold down the home button for 20 secs too and after doing that many times all of a sudden it worked!!! THANK YOU!!! Now I can cancel that home visit!!!

I'm not a family member or friend lol but my dpad was not working along with a few other buttons. I tried EVERYTHING. With this video I tried to take the batteries out and I pressed the power button for one minute and I pressed a bunch of buttons. Then it DIDN'T WORK like you guys are saying. Then I put the batteries back in and held the power button for 30 seconds and then as soon as I started clicking all the buttons it started WORKING!!! - I got tired of using my laptop to watch tv! Thanks for the video! The next video says to unplug the tv for 30 seconds and that got his remote to start working.. didn't need to try it. Again- I'm thankful!

Worked. Followed all the directions and then put the batteries back in and held the power button down for about 30 seconds more(as instructed) and the tv went to a menu screen and it all works again. Wish i knew this before i threw out my first remote and bought another. Would have saved 13$. Thanks for the fix bud. Very appreciated.

This worked for me. I unplugged the tv and followed your instructions. Plugged the tv back in, put the batteries back in the remote and used it to turn on the tv. Remote works perfectly now. Big thanks for sharing this tip.

Seriously, this fixed the issue. I was doubtful but thought I had nothing to lose but a little time. It worked when I put the batteries back in held there power button for 30 seconds and proceeded to push multiple buttons. Give it a try if you’re having issues with your remote. Mine would only power on the television and the other buttons wouldn’t work.

This fix did not work for me but another video's suggestion actually did - link below, but what you do is unplug your TV monitor from the power outlet and keep it unplugged for 1 minute, after first removing the batteries from your remote. Then put the batteries back in and plug the TV monitor back into the power outlet. Mine worked immediately, I'm guessing it forces a reset so that the TV monitor can now 'recognize' your remote and pair with it. The Toshiba manual is useless in this case.

Did you change you batteries too. Cause I did it yesterday and it didn’t work. Then today I bought new batteries and see if they worked by itself and it didn’t then I did the trick and it worked.

My Babydaddy just unplugged the cord from the back of the tv for a few seconds and plugged it back in and the remote starting working. Hope it works for someone who couldn't get this method to work like I couldn't. Thanks for the video.

I'm going to be very impressed if this actually works... because this is why the TV was such an amazing deal. Because they figured they'd make a shitty remote that breaks after 9 months, and then people have to pay 50$ for another remote, that costs them 75 cents to mass produce. So they anticipated making up any lost profits by making the remote a piece of garbage. I appreciate this video, I hope it works!

Here's what worked for me. While the tv is on, press and hold the play/pause and the select button at the same time until the tv restarts. Wait 10 seconds after reboot and it should work fine. If your voice activation isnt working give it a couple minutes and it should work.

I tried the videos method and another commeters method and then this one and my remote still isnt working. It wasnt dropped of had any liquid spilled into it so I'm confused. I also changed the batteries before doing all these methods and nothing. I've had the TV 8 months so its a bummer but think I may suck it up and buy a replacement remote. Thanks for the idea anyway!

I found this on my tv's help section: Settings-Help-Troubleshooting-Reset Your Remote. Try this, to Factory Reset the Remote, press and hold at the same time the DPAD-left, Back (↩) and Menu (≡) buttons for at least 12 seconds. To pair the remote again, press the Home button for up to a minute.

Have to admit my remote was a bit messy. Watched so many re runs of baywatch the keys were a bit sticky. Decided to take remote apart, sure enough the inside looked more like the outside of a painter's radio! All clean now, put back together, all good.😉
