From my experience, this is what you need to do remote play: First, have a good connection on the Vita, you can maximize speed by turn off use wifi in power save mode (just like in the video), change the dns in the network settings to google dns for example, you can also turn on airplane mode, it helps as well for some reason. And second, make sure that the ps4 is using a wired connection, and most importantly that the connection needs to have good upload speeds. (5mbps minimum, 10+mbps preferred) you can check if the connection is good enough by trying to do share play in a party on the ps4 and test connection speed a couple of times (is not 100% accurate but is a good estimate). In my case, I can use it with my phone's 4g mobile hotspot at work with almost no problem (signal at work is not the best) but once I'm outside i can even run it in high framerate mode. Sorry for the wall of text, just trying to help people use this wonderful but very unadvertised feature.
for me the important factor was to turn of the energy saving mode on wifi! From there it worked superb. But on realy fast paced games like wipeout 60fps ect.....i have here and there little mivro stutter. Maybe if i would connect ps4 via cable to the internet i would be gone. But the biggest hame is, that why the hell isnt it possible to use the vita for split screen on every game that has split screen!? Why?
You're already wrong with the wired connection. I've connected my ps4 and vita to wifi, accidentally forgot to disconnect and was somehow still able to play remote play even tho I was nowhere near home.
I remember trying to do this when I was in middle school I tried all the tricks and my Wi-Fi at both houses were what I would consider to be above average I frogot what it would say but I remember it just would never work I’m thinking sense it’s been several years I should try again!
The logest distance was across whole country. I gave my friend a Vita for a week and we still managed to play. Vita connected to my local PS4 Pro and I played with a second controller locally. We often played Tricky Towers 1on1. It works flawlesly if you have good upload bandwidth at home. I'd highly recommend trying that, feels like future, lol
@@SuperJumpReviews Easy way - You need to have two PSN accounts on PS4. Procedure was: • Turn on my local PS4 and TV • Friend connects remotely with my primary account. • You can see him/her operating your PS4 locally on your TV, let a friend start a game. •On a player join screen in-game, turn on your DS4 and it will ask you which account you want to use for the controller. • Select secondary and PS4 will take you back to game, with both VITA and DS4 connected and you can now play together. Essentially, you can use this locally as a second controller too :)
I can vouch for this setup. I was 30km away from my PS4 and I was playing fallout 4 and warfare without any issues on standard definition. I had my phat Vita connected to my phone. Next test would be to use the Sim slot on the Vita and see how that goes.
LOL so true man, you can't even chill without having to worry about looking like a weirdo creep at the park. Great video. Still use my Vita everyday so these tutorials are really appreciated.
@@matteosivilotti9800 Model depends on personal preference. Do you want an OLED or LCD screen? Personal I think nothing can beat the original OLED. But the LCD has a better battery life and lighter. So see what matters to you. The games will look great on both models but it just "pops" a little more on the OLED. I don't have one but I hear a lot of people telling me to get the grip for the vita as well. They say it helps a lot for playing games that require the backtouch. Lastly I would recommend getting a memory card. 32GB is a good size. I'd stay away from anything bigger since I have heard some people tell me those card sizes get corrupted a lot easier but that's just going from what I've heard. I have a 16GB card and it's already full. Good luck!
Dude, I can't believe that I had the setting checked "Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode"..... I always thought that it will use the wifi when in power save mode lol, but there is only a standby mode. Remote Play still worked fine and I had no issues most of the time with a good signal. Thanks man :)
You think this would work at my work where I have a legit internet connection and not a hotspot? Would like to know before buying the vita to play my ps4 at work.
Would’ve been nice to know this back when I still had a PS4 😭 I only ever got remote play to work at home. The only time it really came in handy for me was one night I was playing Destiny 1 with my friends but both my controllers died, so I used remote play to keep going.
I remember using party chat one time with my ps vita and my friends were on ps4 playing destiny. I could hear them in the background playing the game while I was on the dashboard on my vita haha
As much as I love PSP and PS Vita, It sucks against Nintendo because of these effing propietary memory cards... Does it hurt too much to them to have an standard storage format for their consoles? This is why PSP and Vita failed miserably against Nintendo handhelds...
I've remoted in a couple times from work using my phone as a hotspot, usually to do something minor like advance my Madden league or to adjust a setting or start a patch download. If I had a real unlimited data plan that ran a higher speed than what I get with my AT&T plan, this would really be a viable solution
@@SuperJumpReviews I got it when it first came out and sold it after a yr when I found out no games are coming to the Vita. Sure there's games for it, but nothing my style, 200 anime RPG games and 10 other games.
I am old PS Vita veteran lol I got it when it first came out and played it for like 3.5 years straight like a main console. It broke though, but after watching your videos I just bought a new one
next time play in single player mode everything is interfering never play online while you doing remote play not going to work well I tried this before
@@SuperJumpReviews Mechanically, each in the series gets better and better. It's more interesting, there are more choices, they teach you mechanics expertly, and it is gorgeous. Story is pretty great too.
I just finally buying a vita 1101 model after all these yrs and im so slipping on the soft cfw mod and never knew this could ever happen. I just went to my impala and connected to wifi and YES it work flawless. THIS IS DOPE lol Thx SJR Much Appreciated
Wow I'm late to the remote play but thanks. I got a vita this month for this exact function and couldnt get it to work without having a near perfect connection. Was going take it back until I seen this. Their may be hope yet 👏🏼
I've found that a lot of times, cellular providers are the reason for the crappy performance, due to limiting your bandwidth while streaming video in order to force RU-vid to run at awful resolutions. WiFi through an actual ISP at home seems to work much better. It also depends on your upload speeds for your home network.
Just an enquiry. Under your power save setting tab, you have the "turn off wireless controller auto", does that mean you are able to play with controller as well or is that something different?
@@SuperJumpReviews I swear Im recording it soon. Im taking a slightly different approach this time. Its gonna be a long video for two primary reasons. 1. I want to do it in a "podcast" style and 2. I really dont want to drag it out into multiple videos. You also get a "shoutout" in the video!
I swear Sony advertised the Vita to be a mobile remote play gaming device even at it's release and I thought it was supposed to have 3G wireless to connect wirelessly to ones PS3 at the time. Which would I assume be way better than wifi.
Nice one! Good job man. Funny Situation at the parkingline. I realy enjoyed playing Shadow of the Colossus™ in remote on my slim-vita. But i also use the L2-L3 - R2-R3 attachment to get a better precise feeling of the game.
I was going on a buisness trip and I figured I try it. The place had ULTRA FAST internet and I knew it before I left. I did not tell my GF that I was going to try it so she got scared so badly that she called me and told me that my ps4 was getting hacked. I laughed so hard and told her im using my psvita.
@@SuperJumpReviews Can't really say I blame NetherRealms for doing that but.. I think Warner Bros has something to do with it. Still the best fighting game though.
@@SuperJumpReviews sly 2 is amazing its worh trying and psychonauts is for ps4 its one of my favorite games of all time and hidden gem on ps2 and the sequal will realse this year please help me to make the game more popular in the gaming community.
@@SuperJumpReviews i found a black slim at a pawn shop for $90 and it had a 32g card, works great. Look for resale to save some $ abd good luck. Love the blue. My JP slim is orange - love it!
Let's put it this way. I played it on PS2 when it first came out and loved it. I bought it again when it was remastered on ps3 and then bought it a third time when it was remade on the ps4. It might seem intimidating at first since you're so small compared to the giant colossus but it's actually pretty easy. You don't actually fight the bosses head out. You basically climb the boss and look for a weak point located on the boss. It's an awesome feeling when you're high up in the sky hanging off one of them. Some of them fly and they take you up in the sky too when you climb them. Check it out. You'll never know until you try.
@@SuperJumpReviews Maybe, but I don't know... I've never been to a starbucks... :D, those are pretty new here in Colombia... and internet speeds should be pretty different... :D
This is a stupid question but where is Colombia exactly?

@@SuperJumpReviews jajaja, South America, the country of Juan Valdez, Shakira, Gabriel García Márquez, Sofía Vergara, James Rodríguez, Falcao García... And so on... and of course the country of the horrible and famous Netflix serie Narcos
Well you need to have a great connection for the PS Vita to work flawlessly. Other than that, great video as always . It makes you think, what if Sony tried harder on the Vita, oh well this is another story .Keep themn coming my friend ,thumps up to you !!.
I really wish Sony would've put the effort they had in the ps3 into the ps vita. Then maybe we could've gotten more games. I guess they just lost way too much money and didn't feel bothered with it cause the ps4 wasn't that far behind. Oh well, there's always the psp right? haha, Thanks for the support btw👍
@@SuperJumpReviews your wellcom bro but I have a question bro when I want to send a message to you from PS vita message app he give me error could not send message but when I want to send a message to my other friends I can send it he not give me error bro tell me whyyyyyyy this happens with me
Is this ps vita message app the thing on your phone? If it is then I probably have my account set up to only receive message only from consoles. I'm not sure. I'll have to check but I'm guessing that's the reason.
I feel like Sony should make their own Switch. Like make the PSP 3 a special bluetooth controller that connects your phone, tablet, laptop, and TV to the device as a monitor. This device will have at least 64 GB to 128 GB of storage, plus extended SD card storage; and be backward compatible with Vita and PSP games. Hopefully it happens later on down the road when the Switch's sales gives Sony the wake up call to make a new portable
There were rumors that ps5 was going to be similar to switch like being a hybrid console but I don't think that's gonna happen anymore. I was excited when I heard about it though. I really wish they'd make a ps vita 2. That would be so awesome.
@@SuperJumpReviews Yeah, it is a drag. But at least the PS5 will be legit backwards compatible. As for the Xbox Series X, I think Microsoft should just scrap it because ALL their exclusives can be played on PC. In my opinion, they should of designed a new Surface Pro tablet that is meant for gaming. You know, something to compete with the Nintendo Switch. Granted, the Surface tablets (depending on the model and specs) can play games but it has a hard time running most Triple A titles. I remember seeing a vid of someone running Red Dead Redemption 2 on the Surface Pro X and it lagged. But a gaming Surface would be nice because the Switch is NOT as strong as a PS4 and Xbox One; which is why it doesn't have games like GTA 5 and Red Dead 2. But I recommend Sony to at least make a PSP 3 Once the PS6, Xbox Whatcha Mah Call It, and Nintendo Switch U become relevant
That's pretty dope bro I always wondered if you can do remote play without being on the same network so can this work anywhere? Like being in another city as long as you have internet
It depends. How do you feel about Uncharted Golden Abyss, Killzone Mercenary, Muramasa Rebirth, Little Big Planet, Tearaway, NFS Most Wanted, UMvC3, DOA5+, Wipeout 2048, Soul Sacrifice, Helldivers, Virtua Tennis 4, Street Fighter X Tekken, Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, God of War Collection, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Mortal Kombat 9, Persona 4 Golden, Akiba's Trip Undead and Undressed, Dragon's Crown? If any of those games interest you then you should definitely look into getting a vita.
I wanted to drive down to the shore and try it there ya know. Maybe like sit on the beach as the waves are coming up and using remote play on my vita. Then I thought this might be cheaper lol.
Oh man.. I have a vita but no PS4. I'm waiting for the PS5, but do you think they might drop remote play support on the PS5? I'm so sad to see the Vita murdered :/
@@EchoWinters seems like a long shot, but I'll hope. Who in their right mind would prefer to game on a phone instead of a dedicated handheld with actual buttons
AppleToaster their slogan for the ps5 is “play anywhere without interruptions” and based on patents and their new 5g phone they’re making their phone remote play capable
Does the vita remote play app allow you to configure the image quality and frame rate? On iOS it lets you set 360p which is a sustainable data use rate for me.
So basically if I am at one corner of the town having the pc vita with me and my ps4 is at another corner, so I can wake up my ps4 with the ps vita and remote play. I am correct ?
@@SuperJumpReviews interesting I no longer have a vita but I was thinking about purchasing one and I remember trying to get the long range play to work but it wouldent which turned out to be my fault I was thinking about buying one and slamming a 32gb card into it and seeing what it was all about but I might not I’m debating weather it would even be worth it
Keep it to less action based games in my experience I wonder how well it works with a SIM card in rather than using a hotspot I've got the SIM model might have to give it a whirl
2 Quick questions here do you need to have a 3g vita? and do you need to be with a specific carrier like vodaphone (EU)or that american one I cannot remember the name that they announced at launch to use the hotspot?
Hm....I'm not sure about the 3g one cause that's the one I have. Not sure if it'll work with the other model. And no you don't need to be with a specific carrier to use hotspot.
@@SuperJumpReviews after a bit research turns out you can do it with any model ps vita as it doesn't use 3g it uses a WiFi connection via 4g lte so it's all good I'm getting a oled vita for remote play when I'm out and about :D
