O no, it's so much easier with less damage to remove interior plastic panel and remove entire window assembly in a single piece. That is the way they are built. Did my own years back
I’m so shocked you destroyed factory tinted sliding windows! I would have taken them out propy, it’s not much extra work, you only have to remove one internal trim panel each side. Even if you didn’t want to keep them, You could have sold them on, as the later factory tinted type are rare to come across.
Thanks for your message! Haha, well yes it was a hell of extra work as explained in the video, our trim panels are blocked by our interior setup. So no, we didn't want to lose 2 days of extra work to take out 2 windows to then maybe sell them a few pennies. They aren't factory tinted btw ;). This is also why I shared the other video :)
For the moment we are ok with the standard max load. But we also upgraded the suspension and springs for long time. Stock Defender 130 has exactly the same engine and driveline than Defender 110 and max axel load front is 1580kgs max axel load rear is 2200kg, only springs rate is upgraded. So I agree your point of view that is 100% correct to have a vehicle lighter as possible but if we are respecting the standard max load I think that all will be fine. Thanks for sharing your advice.
You certainly went about it the long way… These windows and frames are so rare to get hold of…. What’s done is done however anyone else doing this it’s easier to remove the windows in the order they were put in… $1000 for one of these in Australia
With our interior layout it was in our opinion the most efficient way to do it ;) but for others who have a clear & accessible inside I recommend following the video I added in the description
oh. my. lord! this is extreme ! i was about to go out to shed and remove my 110 puma side windows , to install my full wings. but - then watched this …. ded
It’s strange that they should be so difficult to remove, as they still leak horrendously, even in a 2014 vehicle and I still rely on moss to stop them rattling.
