We were going crazy trying to work out what to do with a similar door lock we have. Watched endless videos without any luck and then we found this one. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much - I was going crazy and watched so many videos and read so many articles - all of which were unhelpful .... and then I found yours and you saved the day - cheers!
After this video helped me realise there were covers in the way, I then found out that the allen key screw that was holding the cover on was stripped and preventing me from getting one cover off, but I did manage to fix several loose handles now though. Thanks heaps.
Oh my god. Thank you so much!!!! This absolutely drove me nuts when I tried to remove the spindle. That darn o ring!!!!!Happy to say that as soon as I saw your video, I was able to replace the door handle that’s been out of action for months. Cheers
Thanks 🙏🙏 mate it's help me I was stuck same step and waste one hour to remove whole lock unit and your video save me and I am so glad that I have fix new lock ,thanks again for your video
Another Aussie posting an unbelievable video that I didn't think would exist. Great stuff! You gotta laugh at how many people would have been really pissed getting that bit off. I did a quick search and bang. Onya mate
This video is great. The lock itself is one of the worst locks. The pin gets stuck very often. I am planning to get rid of gainsborough privacy locks and buy new button ones without the stupid pin design
I’m stuck at removing the cover 😫It’s not as easy as just turning left. Haven’t gotten to the ring part yet. It’s exactly the same brand I have here. Thanks for the vid
Your channel is such a nice change from all those commercial "faux DIY" channels with guys in branded polo shirts trying to sell you some whacky product.
Not just years of confusion, during which time the top screw pulled further out from the door, but a considerable amount of time wasted, all fixed now, deceptively simple, thank you 🙏🏽
Thanks Bill!Mate, I've come across a few of these over the years every now and then & they've had me stumped how to get out to make the painting easier. Now I know so, thank you! Loving the vids and tips, keep them coming champ!
Thanks for the help! Unfortunately, the spindle still wouldn't come loose after removing the washer. I had to use some locking pliers to yank it out. Hopefully this helps someone else.
Thankyou, i was about to rip the door off it hinges but you saved me. What is with the rubber washer, dumb. Love hearing a aussie voice on a RU-vid help channel .
Awesome! I had the door handles loose and rattling which this video helped me a lot. But why would I need to remove the spindle - to solve what problem? I just left it there and tightened the screws and the rattling is gone!
Brilliant Bill! I couldn’t quite work out how to get that plate off. Now it is a piece of cake to tighten the screws again. Thanks for all your great videos. You’re a legend! Cheers Kev
Thankyou very much bill amazing and straightforward video quick question i broke one of the rubber seals trying to take it off does it have to go back in when i put the handle back on cheers.
Hi Bill, thanks for the videos! Ive got the same gainsborough locks in our internal doors. The kids have been playing around with the locks and the push button screw has fallen out. Screwing it back in doesnt seem to lock the door - any ideas??
Hey Bill thanks for nice video. I have a different problem with my bathroom lock. When I push the pin, door isn’t still getting locked. Inadvertent entry in the bathroom is still possible when someone is inside thinking that door is locked. Kindly guide me.
