How I replaced my backsplash with a new subway tile design for less than $100 in August 2019, Texas.
I am not a carpenter and this video is for entertainment only. This is not a How-To or DIY (Do It Yourself) video, this is how I did it.
Should not be attempted by untrained personnel, electrical and water hazard, only you are responsible for your actions, proceed under your own risk.

Nice job!!! My co-worker installed a backsplash for me yesterday and did a terrible job, I want it removed and a new one put in but my husband says that we need to remove the drywall and I was hoping that wasn't true. You proved him right but boy did you make it look easy!!

I'm a retired electrical, suggest removing the old metal boxes with new plastic boxes. Old boxes the holes holding the receptacles can strip plastic ones do not, and its safer, plastic does not conduct electricity.

Was quoted 1200 and 1800 for this job. Area is about 37sqft. Is this about accurate?

I am not a contractor, I had $100 for materials and including tools you can spend another $200 easily. All in including labor... I guess maybe 700? Seems on the high side but labor is expensive, it may be right

Can't you just repair that drywall? I have backsplash that I never did like and I want to replace it but the thought of replacing the drywall is really intimidating.

Common mistake in this video...too much space left around outlet boxes resulting in no support for the receptacles. Every time he goes to plug-in they will try to push inwards and move around.

mhh not really, outlet holds perfectly after all this time. Nothing moves and we use those every day plugging and unpluggin kitchen appliances.

Hmm, $97 to change the blacksplash. Now I feel stupid trying to negotiate with the seller of a house, saying it's be over $1000 to do it. lol

I only paid materials. Tools and labor will add up quickly, I would say at least 500 for this small job. could be more depending on the size of the project.

Not that you asked, but as a viewer I figured I'd give some feedback that may or not be beneficial for you.The video was helpful and the project looked great, but the audio was too much on the listeners ears. Had to put it on silent it was very unpleasant. If you have the ability to do some light explanations over the video that'd be more helpful.
