Hey! Thanks for the video! I’ve never had to do this before (first time homeowners here) and I find myself in need of removing the propane tank from my grill to do some repairs to a wheel that broke off my grill in a storm. Do these same steps apply or any added steps for a tank with a quarter left in it?
@@scottkibler1120 Thanks for watching and we appreciate you reaching out to us. Congrats on the new house Scott. You will find that it is the same steps. Keep us posted on your project, us DIY’ers need to stick together.
Thank you!! I know this sounds lame, but much like electricity, gas tanks scare me. My husband passed and this was his job! I need to remove an old tank so THANK YOU! :)

Thank you for this video! As simple as it may be, it's very helpful. I've really never paid attention on how to remove a tank safely. And I'm glad that there's people here on RU-vid that upload a video on just about anything, and we can just search it up and have an answer. I need to get ready for the freeze coming in the southern states, in case we have a power outage.
Thanks for watching Elizabeth, and we appreciate you taking the time to share this, it means the world to us. You are spot on, RU-vid has definitely been very helpful and we continue to do our best making videos that get you the information you need without wasting your time. Thanks again. 😎👍
Thank you for this video. Needed to disconnect the tank to haul old BBQ pit to heavy trash had no clue where to start. Was safely finished in less than a minute and I wasn't scared I'd blow up something 😂
Awesome, well done!!! Hopefully you’re replacing it with a nice new grill setup. 😎👍 Let us know if you have any questions and hey if you’re into crypto trading, check out our newly launched DIY ecosystem. Toolboxtoken.com Reach out to us any time! 🧰
Man, one day you realize your dad never taught you shit! Thankyou! Fast and easy and straight forward no one caught me hiding in the bathroom watching this before I moved the grill!

Please make another video to verify the valve on the tank is closed before disconnecting and you can bleed the pressure off the hose by moving the burner nob to the open position so there's no pressure.
You are welcome, and thank YOU! You’re not alone, you definitely don’t want that to blow up. 😬 We appreciate you sharing this and hey if you’re into crypto trading, check out our newly launched DIY ecosystem. Toolboxtoken.com Reach out to us any time! 🧰
Ok just turned my valve counter clock wise (closed right?) and then took off the connection it’s hissing everywhere and smells bad should I try and reconnect it?
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I put my mouth over the nozzle to stop the hissing so I could grab tools. I don’t feel so good now. Thanks for the advice got it closed finally. Haven’t felt this bad since I ate those tide pods.
Good morning, just poured a cup of coffee and am sitting down to answer any and all questions for the DIY community. The steps will be the same. Make sure regulator valve is turned off prior to removing tank. Hey. I’m getting ready to go on vacation once I disconnect my tank do I need to have a cap to cover it or is it safe to leave on my patio without a cap as long as it’s switched to close ?
Thanks for watching, great question. That will depend on who you ask. If we ever disconnect tank from regulator before tank is empty, we always set tank inside garage until we return and hook it back up.
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You can definitely have it filled by a local hardware store or gas station that provides that service.
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. We recommend verifying the tank is properly secured to the grills regulator. You want to make sure the internal seal creates a gas tight/air tight seal when screwed tight. Please keep us posted. 😎👍🔧🔩
