SMD capacitors are difficult to remove especially on old worn out pcb... Here is the way i use to remove and replace SMD capacitors. #soldering #diy #capacitor #desoldering
Thank you very much! The method worked very well and in the first try itself. As suggested, I used pliers and twisted gently for 10-15 second disconnected from the board without any harm to pcb trace or the capacitor mess. Previously I used soldering iron and damaged pcb traces trying to remove these capacitors.
You are welcome! Been there done that :) I was also struggling to remove the capacitors using soldering irons and also damage the tracks or lift them! Glad the video is useful!
You didn’t say what methods work for you though. I measure the capacitors in circuit. Sorry but removing smd capacitors just to test them is a really bad idea. You have done all the work to remove it and don’t solder a new one; I don’t get it. Plus in order to solder it back you have to heat it again and stress it so your measurements might not be correct after resoldering. Again I would like to hear what method you are using that won’t stress and damage the pcb…. Thank you for the input!
