Timebolt is an incredible app and it’s one I will use as my editing assistant on every one of my videos from now on. Timebolt automatically detects silences between takes and cuts them out. It’s also way faster to go through your takes and raw footage in Timebolt than it is in Final Cut Pro, and the best part is you can then export this cutdown into FCP using an XML, so that you can continue editing. Timebolt also supports Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve XML exports.
In this video I cover 3 different scenarios: a single-file workflow, a workflow with separate video and audio files, and a multicam workflow, which is a game changer, even if you don’t edit multicam footage.

There is a significant difference between capture in OBS and native on a camera memory card. Excellent. I always get great advice from your videos. Do you have a recommended dB level for narration?
@Brad_West
@Brad_West Год назад
So happy to hear that! The short answer is -3dB to -6dB for narration. The long answer is it depends. If it's for broadcast on TV, you would likely need to adhere LUFS standards, but for any RU-vid videos or social media videos having your dialog peak between -3dB to -6dB is perfect.

Hey Jovany! Good question. Recut does a similar thing, but it doesn’t support multicam xml export. Hey again Brad! Hope you're well. If I do the above for a multicam clip with just two angles, 1 mic, and 1 cam, and the mic is the monitoring angle, but I want the cam angle to be always the angle that is being viewed, is there an easy way to do that? Basically i want to make the cam the active video angle in each clip. I don't see a way of doing it other than manually right clicking on each clip and selecting the cam as the active video angle but will take a very long time as there are a lot of clips.

Hi Brad, great video, very helpful. Is it possible to use generators on only one cam inside a multicam clip? I just exported a multicam clip using Timebolt consisting of Cam, Mic, & Screen Recording. I normally use a Circle generator and stencil alpha on my cam clip to create a picture in picture which I layer over my screen recording, so that the screen recording is the main thing everyone is seeing, and my face is in a circle in the corner. But I can't seem to figure out how to do this on a multicam clip. Is it possible? THANKS
@Brad_West
@Brad_West Год назад
You could create a compound clip on the cam clip using the shortcut Alt G, then copy the screen recording into the compound clip, then add your circle generator inside the compound clip. Either that, or you could duplicate the multicam clip in your timeline, change the top one to the cam angle and then add the generator. The only thing with that method is that you have to cut both multicam clips every time you make a cut. Hope that helps 😄🤞🏼

@@Brad_West I'm not getting my head around the first method. Did you mean create a compound clip on the multi cam clip or the cam clip? And then how do I copy the screen recording with all the cuts made by Timebolt? As the Timebolt cuts were made on the audio track and the screen recording is only cut and synced within the multicam clip...THANKS
@Brad_West
@Brad_West Год назад
For the first method, double click to open the multicam clip and on your cam layer, select the clip and hit Alt G to create the compound clip. Then copy the screen recording, double click to open the compound clip and paste the screen recording into the compound clip. You can drop it below the cam clip and then do what you normally do to the cam clip. Then you can go back to your timeline. Does that make more sense?

@@joshuafcenters that’s weird. That should sync fine but it’s possible if the clips are really long, that you’re experiencing sync drift. You will have to retime one of your clips to match the timing of the other. You can either slow one down slightly or speed it up. Best way to do it is to find a word right at the beginning and create a marker on both clips on that word. Then, do the same for the last word. Retime one of the clips until the markers line up at the beginning and the end. Hope that helps!

I just got it and trying to do multi cam, my confusion is if haver 2 seperate angles with respective audio. What if the audio is off when i upload each to timebolt? its my understanding I cannot add two audio files at the same time as you can in recut? Is that correct? Then when creating multicam in final cut it feels much easier to just select the two clips and create multi cam vs this way.
@Brad_West
@Brad_West 6 месяцев назад
Yeah you wouldn’t add both audio files to Timebolt. You would add one, use that to cut everything up and then when you’re in FCP, you add a second angle inside the multicam clip, add the additional audio file and sync it there. Your cuts will stay intact. If you need both angles present in Timebolt because it’s two different speakers for example, then you might have to add them to FCP, sync them, export a master audio file that is both angles combined into one file, cut that file up with Timebolt and then once you’ve imported the multicam, you can add two new angles for the two separate audio files. I hope that makes sense 😄👍🏼
