I’ve always wondered if there was a way to get the coating off. Thanks!!!

so the 'coating' that you are scratching off, is that inside AND outside? what is it? The antiglare? If you didn't add antiglare, what it is then? My dog put bite marks in my glasses, they were several several hundred dollars and I'm debating what's worse, the couple holes I see from his teeth or losing the antiglare which I def need. Also not entirely sure they won't be deeper than the coating is since they are from puppy teeth. 🐶

Does this work on polycarbonate lenses? I can't tell from the video if they are glass or polycarbonate.

what happen if you spray on a clear coat? just like refreshing headlights on a used car after sanding?
@brianwall9592
@brianwall9592 10 месяцев назад
I've tried that ("clear coat" on the scratches on glasses, used clear nail polish as advised), and sure, it helped with the scratches themselves, but it also introduced its own distortions/clouding/etc, no go... Perhaps some ppl aren't as picky as I am and are ok with that...

Earlier, made a BIG MISTAKE using the metal polish paste... Tried using toothpaste, vinegar, and baking soda but I think the damage caused by the thick metal polish is deep. Checked Google and found your AWESOME VIDEO and now my LENSES ARE LIKE NEW! HAHAHAHA YOU ARE THE BEST!!! Thank you, Sir! ( now I can play APEX LEGENDS! )

The best way is to use mosquito repellent spray. Spray the lenses with a paper towel, and wipe off the excess. It'll fill in the scratches and nicks in the lenses too.

As a qualified optician I can confirm this is absolutely nonsense! Scratches CANNOT be repaired but only replaced. I wish RU-vid would stop these idiotic videos

Removing the ripoff so called 'anti-scratch' coating from your lenses does actually work, practice on a very old pair and see the difference! It has too be better than getting ripped off by an optician! As to your comment, I'll tell you what's nonsense, it's that mercenary opticians have been ripping off the public and deliberately ruining people's eyesight for decades, simply to make more profit! In resect of 'anti-scratch' coatings, they are a ripoff because a) they do not actually prevent scratches unless you are ultra careful and b) the coating is so thin it begins wearing off in less than a year anyway (even with special care) so then people have no choice but to buy new spectacles. It's a con artist trick and opticians known what's going on! What's more disgusting is the 1000% profit margin opticians make selling contact lenses, frames and prescription lenses, that cost just pennies to manufacture! BUT the final mercenary tragedy, is that for the past 3 decades, opticians have deliberately been making peoples eyesight become weaker, to force them to buy new lenses every year (and this is a fact)!! A qualified eye specialist once told me, whenever you have an eye test, at the end of the test, if the optician takes out another lens and asks you "which one is sharper", "this one or this one", "the first or the second",,, walk out of the examination room immediately and do not pay for the test! Why? Because by asking you "which one is sharper" at the end of the test, the optician is giving you a lens that is a tiny bit stronger than your eyes actually need, this means that the muscles in your eyes do not have to work as hard to focus and this makes your eye muscles become lazy/weaker. Because of your eye muscles weaken, you will need a new prescription more frequently! It's a trick to weaken your eyesight and it works! Ask any of your friends who do not go to the optician unless they have to and you will see that their prescription rarely gets worse, but those people who continually go to their optician has a different prescription almost every time! Giving people a stronger prescription than they need, just to make more money, is diabolically unethical and the practice should be banned, or the optician struck off from the register! If your eyes only need a few degrees of correction, don't waste your time and money seeing an optician and instead, go buy your spectacles off the rack from one of the cheap superstores. At the very least just get your eyes tested then take your prediction and save a fortune buying your specs from a supermarket. The fact that retail stores can sell spectacles for less than $5.00 a pair shows how much the opticians are ripping people off! You can get through 10 pairs a year and still save. fortune, you also don't have some bogus optician trying to make your eyes weaker by unnecessarily increasing the power of your lenses Research Bates exercises and exercise your eye muscles to keep them strong and you will notice your prescription will not change. The eye test is often pointless! Unless you think you have an eye problem, only see an optician every 2 or 3 years and you will probably not need a different prescription. Remember, going to your optician does not mean that they will keep your eyes healthy, because most large optical stores now use so called eye technicians (who do not have the education or skill to examine your eyes properly), to carry out all the health checks! If all a person needs is a few hours treating to check the health of your eyes, then why send an optician to university, because any monkey can put lenses into a frame until your vision becomes clear and you can read the chart!! The most important part of the eye test is the health check and if the optician is not doing that, you should go somewhere else, or there's no point being there!!! Spread the word about this disgusting practice, and remember, the next time you have your eyes tested, if at the end of the test, an optician picks up a final lens and asks you to say "which one is sharper", tell them to stop the test right there and to not give you a lens that will weaken your eyesight!!!

Interesting, the person who works at my local " Sunglasses Hut " recommended I use a paste 🤔 made of baking soda and water. I've been using that method on some of my old reading 👓 and I am having some results removing minor scratches ! However, I agree with you that seriously damaged and scratched lenses are probably beyond redemption ; however, glasses can be very expensive to replace.

It’s because the scratches are only on the coating, so if you remove the coating, the scratches will be removed

Well mister "Qualified Optician"... Can you explain what an Optician's Lens Buffing Wheel is used for?. while I might disagree with this guys method of putting 91% alcohol all over his bare hands and scratching it off with his nails I wouldn't just discredit him and claim to be an expert while also spouting nonsense at the same time. just because you sell people overpriced trash at lenscrafters it doesn't make you an expert. and for those who are interested in finding solutions a Optician's Lens Buffing Wheel: This tool is designed for use by professionals, but can also be used at home with some practice. It is a small electric buffing wheel that uses a fine abrasive compound to buff away scratches from glasses. You can find them online and tutorials on how to use them to repair your glasses, I wish you luck.
