Part three of this eye-opening series about the foster care system.
This in-depth series follows the entire adoption process from the parents who are desperately fighting to keep their children to the couples eagerly waiting to become adoptive parents and bring a child into their home.
The process begins with the most difficult decision of all: the decision to remove a child from its birth family. This episode follows the social workers whose job it is to take children away from their parents and recommend whether they should ever return; and parents who are desperately fighting to keep their children.

It is heartbreaking to see kids ripped away and moved around multiple times. Bonds broken, bonds formed and then broken again and people expecting little bitty hearts and minds to cope well. This made me cry both sad and happy tears. Bless the hearts and lives of people who adopt and love unconditionally. Prayers for all the children in foster care.

Yall are weird. The idea that the needs of the parent should come before the child is CRAZY. Yall thinking the child should languish in foster care while their parent gets it together is even CRAZIER.
@junbh2
@junbh2 3 дня назад
I don't think that's always about putting the needs of the parents first. It's also that we've learned from experience that there are some downsides and harms to a child growing up without their biological family, and historically we've often underestimated that and sometimes even realised years later that it did more harm than good. Sometimes it's the best option though.

It's so sad how there is NO family member to help the parents. No way would I allow one of my grandchildren to end up in the system
@Angelica-uo7bw
@Angelica-uo7bw 4 дня назад
Well when you have 8 grandchildren and your child keeps being irresponsible, not caring for them, it becomes impossible to care for all of them. Deal with the parents, your child, who is most likely addicted to drugs, while taking their children away. It's not as easy as you think. After so many children, sometimes you have to keep yourself from getting attached for yourself and the child. But in many cases, the grandparents are also addicted to drugs unfortunately.

I agree, it would totally wreck my nice peaceful life as a retiree but if I had a grandchild in need I would not hesitate to step in.

The way kids end up in the system is because the family is not helping to begin with.

Just because a child won’t remember doesn’t mean they are not affected. The decision to place a baby for adoption alters the child’s life forever. It effectively changes who their family is forever. I’m not saying it is never the best choice … I’m only saying it most certainly impacts the child even if they are not aware of it at the time.

Also, most of children's brains are formed in those first years before they develop good memories. We don't remember being a baby or toddler, but the experiences we had in those years create our personalities.

They've had two children removed because they aren't fit. They both look really young, no more than kids themselves. There's such a thing as contraception and you can't tell me that she was using it all three times and managed to get pregnant. She also had the option, I have no doubt, to have abortions each time she got pregnant but she chose not to. I have no pity for them whatsoever, but I have a great deal of pity for the children. At least these children are going to be kept together as siblings which is wonderful. Those adoptive parents are so very brave. As the adoptive mum said, unfortunately, the mother is probably going to have more babies and they cannot take on all those babies too.
@tanyahorula1060

Adoption is trauma for 2/3rds of those involved. We adopted siblings 18 years ago and theyve definitely had many big feelings about it growing up. Adoption is actually a loss to the child.

When i was 7 or 8 (im 44 now lol) our apartment got raided by the police-omg it was horrible!! I had come home w/a good report card and i was enjoying my new colored pencils🥺🥺 Seeing them rip our apt apart & seeing my oarents made to lay belly down in handcuffs (actually, just my mom. My dad developed a drug prob. and i knew because i found things that ik what they were from learning stuff in school. He got really scary a lot when he was h&gh cuz he did cr&ck. So i wanted him to go away forever at that time) sorry, my adhd makes it really hard for me to not add all of these details🤦‍♀️) Well, i wound up going to a foster home, and parting w/my mom was thecworst thing ever-she didnt use, everytime she tried to leave my dad would pull the same lines out of his butt that all abusers do. (A few years later, she did finally leave🤗🤗🤗) I was extremely fortunate that the foster family i stayed w/were so wonderful. They did everything to make sure i was comfortable. Thankfully my mom got bail because she had nothing to do w/my fathers extracurricular activities. Buuuut...she had to clean the apt top to bottom before they would let me go home. Thankfully family helped!! That happened on a Friday, i went home on that Sunday. (I found out 20yrs later that my dad got in trouble for the manufacturing & distribution of n×rcotics. It really sucked, because i KNEW that my father lived me. He didnt use all of the time-more sporadically so when he was sober he was the best. Thats the dad that i would see for the next 10 yrs. But he was just sucked in to the disease of addiction. I had to stop talking to him when i was 26. I myself bacame addicted to p×in p×lls & was trying soo hard to get clean but he had no boundaries, and kept asking me to do some cr×ck w/him. I thought he was prossibly trying to get me to use bcuz i had a job & he didnt. I asked him to keep his habit away from me. After 2times, i couldnt. I love him, but it was time to love myself & get my life together. I told him that i would always love him. I moved 90mins away. He bever got sober, he passed away alone, in a crappy no-tell Motel 1.75Lt bottles of wh×skey all over the room. He passed away from heart complications due to the use of m×th & alcohol 😢😢 I was SOO SAD from this. I stopped being angry after he passed, because years prior i hit bottom-HARD. So, i was finally able to understand how strong the grips of addiction truly are. The difference was i WANTED more than anything to get sober-and he wanted to use forever. I finally got sober, & i celebrated 10yrs of absolute sobriety. I even quit smoking&vaping. The moral to my novel of a post (the last part) is, you cannot just quit using because u have a child/children to take care of, or for anyone or anything else. If u try, it wont last long. The ONLY WAY to get & stay sober is if u WANT IT for yourself. If u try to do it fir anything else, usually means you truly do not want to quit, and that can cause resentment, and mist likely relapse. I was able to get sober because i wanted better for myself, i no longer wanted to use. I think because of this, i was anle to quit cold-turkey. Of course the detox was brutal, but that part will end-what comes after is the true challenge!! I utilized every AODA & mental health program i could. I learned coping skills, and the tools i needed to get through everyday. I struggled w/getting my life together for 7yrs-i finally found the lught at the end of the tunnel. Meaning, i can finally wake up happy to be alive-no longer starting my day praying that i would "expire" by the end of the day. I am able to enjoy relaxing, being quiet, reading, taking a shower, etc. I really dont get cravings because i truly, whole-heartedly NEVER EVER want to use ever again.

This is a horrible system..Here we mostly have foster care. The parents and children never loose each other completely. If they can have supervised visitation, weekends together or just information and a say in what's happening depends on what's possible. There is short term emergency foster parents, the others are long term and children know they stay there if they can't live with their parents. To jank babies just away this quickly and erase history and family bonds is evil.

I love how people here are hating on the system and not the parents who choose to bring a child into this world while being hooked on drugs...the parents of Destiny are so obviously high it's not even funny. Sure adoption can be a traumatic event but growing up with shitty parents isn't? Would it be better for the baby to be with addicts? Are you nuts?

I guess that isn't illegal, but at some point, there won't be any foster families left. Some might not be ready to take on the responsibility for 18 years or more. The older couple in the last episode probably wouldn't adopt since they are older, but they can give the children a loving home till they find a new family.

I don't like that couple who adopted the 2 boys and are going to get the baby sister (Destiny?). The way they talked about getting her like they were getting some kind of toy and then disparaging the birth mom. You don't need to look down on that poor girl who's had her babies ripped away from her like that. She's probably having more kids because she has a hole in her soul that she can't fill because you took her babies. She looked like she close to suic¡de.

The money that is paid out to foster home is supposed to be used to buy the kids clothing and other needs…. I can tell you the most money we ever recieved in many years of foster care was 28$ a day …so please know it isn’t huge amounts of money….and it shouldn’t be a main reason to foster….

That’s a pretty ignorant comment. Perhaps you didn’t watch the video? These kids were neglected, and in danger. Parents, instead of getting their act together, decide to go have more children that they can’t take care of. Thank goodness for foster families who provide love and care to these children. And to those who adopt them hats off to you for giving them a loving, safe home for the rest of their lives. Just because somebody can have kids doesn’t mean they should.

Many of these parents are not in a capacity to take care of their biological children and you can invest as much money into these parents but if they aren’t capable then it’s pointless I mean this documentary showed one of the parents being an abusive stalker you cannot expect someone like that to be responsible for a child they don’t make these decisions lightly because it’s traumatic for many people to take away kids and place them for adoption
