They are inspiring me to think about doing it myself. Mine all graduated from high school this year. We’re older but could offer love.

My group home carers were in their 60,s at the time when I was aged 4 Aunty C and Uncle John we called these beautiful people. They have probably both passed away 😢 now I am 50 now and I wish I had been given the opportunity to thank them both They loved all the children in care unconditionally ❤

@@marissabuoncora1608 So the mother still had rights to the kids, but she went against the court orders when she found out through the oldest ones friends that we allowed her to go to a skating rink on Fridays. Well the friend wanted her to spend the night and after talking with their parents and meeting them I agreed. They where going to pick them up from the skating rink. Something came up and they where not able to pick up the girls and instead of calling me the oldest ones friend called the oldest ones bio mom and she came to get them and take them home. After the sleep over oldest one came home crying and telling me what happened and explaining that she wanted her to tell the case worker that we where not caring for them. (Not feeding them, taking them to school, letting them bath etc.) She was freaking out because her mother has gotten them taken from people in the past in similar ways and she didn't want to go. So we went to the casework and explained what happened. Caseworker called us back the next day. (We where with the oldest one in the car taking her to the heart doctor and my phone connects to speaker) The caseworker stated that "I believe the mother over the kids and I believe they are making it all up to get away from her." Oldest one was in tears, super upset. (She was like 15 old enough to have a right to know what was going on in her own case with her mother) Middle of the night she went for a walk to clear her head at the walking park down the road, and I just happened to check on them and she was gone. We searched for hours before finally calling the cops, unfortunately just as the cops arrived and I called the case worker, she came home... but it was already to late. Case worker took them a week later because of her "running away" despite the fact the police didn't put it down as a run away.

You need to put you energy into discouraging these sick and selfish women from having babies. Law reform need to happen in all western countries stating that women who continually have children when they cannot handle them get forcefully sterilised. It's best for the kids AND society.

Adoption is an extremely emotional/psychological process and requires a lot of finances. It's not an easy option for many families.

​@@marissabuoncora1608the ultimate goal of fostering (in the US at least) is reunification either with the parents or with another family member. If the caretakers show enough progress and change, or they find a willing family member to take them, foster kids won't be eligible for adoption. It really depends on the child, their family, and the situation overall.

@@nadinehart8624 I was trying to say I’d adopt kids at any age with any disability if I could. I know what it’s like to feel unwanted. By mostly everyone. My message was not to put anyone down. It was strictly saying someone cares about them.

I’m so sorry. Both my parents were orphans. It has such a lasting effect.

It's not always as straight forward as that. Mental health, abuse, trauma, lack of support, intelligence, financial reasons, addiction... Way too many reasons why a person may not be able to look after their children. Not having them would be the best option in some cases, but you can't take it back... We cannot judge the bio parents having not walked in their shoes.

As someone who was adopted you never know the situation so don't judge. My mom was young, already had my brother, my sperm donor had already left when she was 4 months pregnant with me, she couldn't find a job because it was a high risk pregnancy, so she gave the the life she knew she couldn't give me. Did it mean growing up away from all my siblings...yes...but now I understand why did what she did and she and I are as close as any mother and daughter would be. She's amazing. Don't judge a situation you don't know the full story behind.

The Canadian system is a nightmare too. Most adoptions have to be open adoptions. That means you take on all the legal responsibilities of a guardian but have to agree to keep the family the child came from in the loop with updates and visits. You have to involve the people who were deemed unfit to care for the child in that child's life and often re-traumatize them by seeing the people who neglected and abused them. You have to make them visit grandparents determined unfit or unwilling to take them in and go on about how the system is wrong and their abusers were actually good people before the drugs. As an adoptive family you're considered unfit if you've had any physical or mental health issues. Financially you have to be independently wealthy. My friends went through two rounds of in vetro fertilization with surrogates and it cost less than adopting through the government.

In Australia it can takes years and years and years to be approved. My Aunty adopted a baby and it took 6 years and a lot of money.

I think the reason why she seems as though she favours Lauren Which she doesn’t is because Lauren is 7 she’s much more aware as opposed to Liam who was only a baby when he was removed so Liam likely doesn’t understand in fact from this documentary it seems as though Liam had little to no understanding of his birth mother which makes the adoption process a lot easier but with Lauren since she does understand and absorbs more she’s more scared and more aware of the changes in her life which is why the social worker spends more time with her so it’s not so much favouring her as it is working with her and helping her to understand that these changes are a positive thing for her

She's helping Lauren process what's happening to her. Lauren knows and remembers her birth mom, come on she's almost 8 years old. She needs that extra attention. I commend the social worker.

No one is owed anything but basic respect. People who are other than cis/het don't choose to be that way any more than any of us choose the color of our eyes. As long as they can provide him love and support in a stable household they'll be good parents for him. He won't be short of male role models.

Children of same-sex couples have no significant disadvantages compared to children of different-sex couples (see PubMed article ID 35627459 for example). Even if there were some disadvantage, it would be far less than the disadvantages of being raised by the government with no permanent family or stability.
