This saved me lots of money. I was looking for a tutorial to change the power relay assembly on my 2014 Sonata hybrid and so I didn’t go as far as this video. However it helped me get to the battery to be able to access the relay assembly. Thank you so much!
I dont think if there's any other way to explain better then this very well job, I like how you explained every single thing. you are very professional 11
Thank You super tech. Now I know. Have a 2011 sonata hybrid, had not problems yet, always kept hybrid sonata inside warm garage. Therefore hybrid battery still working fine. Thanks for the video.
I was told by the Hyundai Dealer, / & Service Manager, That it could be Very Dangerous to Attempt any DIY Fixes involving the Reg. Battery or the Hybrid Battery !! You Make it look easy, I Guess Because you take The Necessary Precautions !! Last month,...The HPCU Computer (Hybrid Power Control Unit) Just Failed on my 2014 Limited Sonata Hybrid !!...I Was told that it would have been a $4,500 Part,... Plus Xtra for labor !! But the Car is still under the Bumper to Bumper Warranty, so the FIX was “No charge” !! That was truly a Hyundai Christmas Gift !! lol👍👋😊 / ...But Now, I’m looking forward to more Hybrid Videos from you & Others who can Inform us Hybrid Owners of some Important DIY fixes & How To Perform them...THANKYOU for this video & Hopefully more to come !!👋👍👍😊
And as somebody pointed out in the comments, you should definitely wear gloves. If you make a mistake, the current from that battery is probably enough to do serious harm if not kill you
Thanks man, you saved me lots of money. The crooks at aufenburg Kia told me it would be over 5,000 dollars! I ordered a a battery with a warranty off Ebay for 500 and did myself with the help of this video! Thanks man!
Well Kia sells a new battery assembly for $4000-$6000. However, if you're smart enough you can buy a third party battery (e.g. Greentecauto) and install yourself.
Aron Tesfay was wondering when you did it yourself did you have to get it reprogrammed since it was another battery installed and if you did were you Able to reprogram it yourself or did you have to go to the dealership to get it reprogrammed and how much did it cost?
Had the same problem, people at Kia trying to make me pay 5k+ but I went on eBay and got a battery for a little over 500 with a warranty. It comes in today, hopefully I can install it no problems with this video. I don’t want to get electrocuted haha.
@@arontesfay2520 I have question i have 2015 and i have 85000 mileage and 100000 mileage i will be with out warranty, is better to sale it now fast before my warranty end?
Thank you for the thorough step-by-step explanation! Have a question: I've been looking on used Sonata Hybrid 2012, it had check engine light and P1B74 code on OBD II report (but the Carfax says the battery was replaced ~10 ths miles ago). After resetting the check engine light I drove for 25 miles and light did not appear again. What was that code and is it safe to buy it, or the battery will fail soon?
My daughter is getting ready to be gifted a 2012 Hyundai Sonata from her mother that has 110k miles. It's been maintained well since originally purchased and has had no issues, but I'd like to know what is the current cost of the hybrid battery should it ever need replacing? Thank you, great video👍🏽
Hi my friend bought a 2012 hybrid sonata 191k miles on it ,the dash says check charging system ,the ready light keeps blinking ,the power safety fuse was upgraded to 150 amp ,and won't start any advice would be appreciated
unfortunately I would need more information, you need to use a scanner to find out if there is a code and to know what the state of charge of the hybrid battery is. With this information, I could try to help if you need, you can call (949)254-5204 and we will try to resolve it together Thank you Renato
Thank you so much for such an excellent video! I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and so far the battery is working fine, although I'm occasionally receiving a p0c17 code. Did you ever get an opportunity to do a video on replacing the lithium cells of the battery? That would be great if you could. Thanks again.
When this Hybrid Battery is replace is any ECU updating or programming required or is it just take the old one out and install a replacement new or used?
unfortunately 100% of the time the car needs the hybrid battery, the only car that still runs if you remove the hybrid battery are the first Hondas with the IMA system Thank you Renato
I have the 2013 Kia optima hybrid. The power relay in the battery is the exact same. Would the power relay be the same. The kias price is 200 more than hyundai.
Hi I have an issue with my 2011 kia optima hybrid, when the engine is cold everything is perfectly working. As soon as the engine gets hot, thats the start of having the issue. Especially when the weather get hot. When the engine is hot, basically from driving it, and slowing down or coming from a complete stop, when i try to accelerate, the electric motor does not respond and it waits til the engine takes over in order for you to be able to drive or move the car (about 3 seconds delay from a complete stop). So when the engine gets rest a bit, then its all goes back to normal (well not quite, electric motor responds but not too long til it switches to gas motor). Basically its all about when it gets hot (weather and the engine). Do you think its something like a sensor?
I have a 2011 Sonata Hybrid, I replaced the battery using this amazing instructional Video. Now I get a OBD code P1a6f and P1a6F pd. Does anyone know what this could be. I google it and it says is the BMS-ECU. ANY ONE KNOW WHAT IS THIS ????

Hello Firas , If you are bleeding the gasoline side coolant system will be the same as a conventional vehicle . some of them have a bleeder valve that you have to open to the air come out easier Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions Thank you Renato
Can you show me where the fuse is located on a 2019 Sonata ? I plan on installing an inverter to it. I know I need to remove fuse so I don’t kill myself. Thanks.
Hello, I´d like to know if you have the battery packs for sale, I need for Hyundai Sonata 2013 - 2015, the same battery you pulled off, please let me know
