Hahaha I was trying to remove mine in reverse I hammered the little pin out on the handle and I was trying to figure out how to get it completely threaded through, though taking the little clip off that I thought couldn't be removed and using adjustable wrench for leverage is way better lol

I recently purchased a 1980 Evinrude 15. It came on a stand and I needed to heat the transom clamp screws to remove them; breaking off the handles in the process. I've purchased a replacement pair. My question is should I grease them prior to installation to prevent them from binding in the future? Thanks

Great video! My one clamp slides in and out without threading it. Almost like the threads are completely gone, but the other works as it should. Not to sure what to do about that? You have any advice thanks!

Were do you buy the clamp retainer to keep the clamp on?

Do you know what thread this clamp has , I want to rrplace the swivels for normal bolts.

Depends. My Honda 15 appears to have 1/2-12 threads. My Nissan 3.5 is probably metric! Just measure.

Correction 1/2-13 not 12 is a standard thread.

How do you install the pin that holds the handle on? Or do you know what type of pin they are called so I can Google how to install? Thanks!

I think they are pressed in, don't know if you'll find one. But, I remember seeing a pin and handle kit once. Could just use a bolt & screw..

I was actually watching to see if you knew what size tap to use on this process

Me too!! Brandon!! What size tap just in case ours were seized in and we ruined the threads!

So, used adjustable wrench and broke the head off of my clamp.... Now what?
@BrandonsGarage
@BrandonsGarage 3 года назад
Keep going, put the wrench on the flat and get it out of there.
@wearegame777

@@BrandonsGarage No, the FLAT broke off... only threads left :( .... The handle was already broken off.
@wearegame777

@@BrandonsGarage It's cross threaded or something else damaged the threads. I'm going to cut it flush and start drilling it out. It's only aluminum, after all. Good video though! Thanks for your quick response to my reply, as well! You got a new subscriber here.

First try heating the screw, don't overdo it, aluminum will melt. Kodibass (Utuber) also drills small holes through the bracket to the screw and injects penetrating oil. Last resort is to cut the screw flat with bracket (handle side) and drill the screw material out. If the bracket threads are damaged, you will have to tap & die them clean or enlarge them to the bigger size clamp screw. Always use lots of penetrating oil and Good luck !
