I'm here in Moore, OK trying to repair the damage done by that tornado on the 20th of May and compounded damage done on the 31st May. watching your video helped me save a ton on labor cost, considering i had to pay two deductibles; one for each claim. I've never done siding before. your video showed me what was up. Thank you for your much needed help. I got two sides of my house done in one day!
Just bought a house and im completely clueless on upkeep and DIY fixes. Your channel has given me so many pointers. Keep it up, you are doing good deeds sir!
I melted the vinyl siding on my house a couple of weeks ago. The job i had to do was slightly more complicated than this job but i used all the techniques shown in this video and it worked a treat. Vinyl siding is real cheap too. I recommend doing it yourself. watch this video, you cant go wrong. Thanks Dominick.
I wish I would have seen this a few years ago. I would have saved $500 doing it myself. Excellent video! I know some people don't like it, but here in the Pacific Northwest with all the rain and long periods of overcast weather, it really is a good type of siding. I usually pressure wash the house every two years and haven't had any problems with mold as one viewer mentioned. Thanks for the video.
Very timely information! I have about four sections of siding damaged from a tree falling against the house during hurricane Irene. This information is just what I needed to watch, to see first hand how the repair is done. Thank you!
Good Job on this video. Very professional production quality. Very clearly and thoroughly explained. You should seriously have your own show, you have the right personality for it.
I'm installing a dryer vent and needed to remove some vinyl siding, and this helped greatly. As for the tool to remove the siding, I used one of those paint can openers that Lowe's or Home Depot gives you for free when you buy paint. It doesn't have quite the bend that the tool you showed does, but it worked, and worked a LOT better than the screw driver I tried. Thanks for the DIY tip!
That was a big help! I was needing to remove the siding to replace some old, drippy faucets and was nervous about messing up my siding! Now it will be no problem. Thanks!
Had some hail damage to my vinyl siding (small cracks/holes on edges) and this video explains everything I needed to know. Thanks for the complete start to finish "how to" on replacing select sections of siding. You da man!
Wow! That looks super easy! My siding was burnt off my garage when some kids lit my garbage can on fire. A contractor wants to charge me $500+ to replace it. Thanks for the great video. I KNOW I can do this!
Awesome video .. Thanks Dominic! I have to repair a few cracked siding and never thought it would be this easy until I saw your video. Great job, buddy!
I love all the details you give, so helpful for someone who has never dealt with siding before, I just took off a piece based on your video, now off to find matching pieces. Thanks!!!
Glad I could help out. Good luck on matching it. Go to a real siding supply house. The big box stores don't have a big selection and chances are that when your house was sided it wasn't bought at the box stores.
Nice, thanks for the complete description. I wound up here because I have to repair a section of my house and need to remove some of the vinyl siding to do so. This was very helpful and clearly explained. Thanks again!
So yeah same thing here... bbq too close to the house and melted it. Been all warped for years until it crossed my mind to google a how to and voila. Geez louise had no idea it'd be so easy! Thanks so very much!
Great video! The step by step instructions are a really big Help! Thanks! Just bought a house and the previous owner melted the siding with the grill as well! Now I know how to fix it! Good job!
Thanks Dominick ! You saved the day! My boys played hockey on the driveway! They made few nice hole on my siding! Replace is down as You show me! Thank You again!
Thanks Dom! You made me a hero with the wife on the "honey do" list. I had some concrete guys install new back steps and they ripped up part of the siding demo-ing the old steps. With you great DIY advice, I was able to fix it for a fraction of what a contractor would have charged.
Thanks a lot Dominick! I put the whole side of my shed up starting from the top and was wondering why the whole damn thing came crashing down...then I watched your video. Looks much better. Thanks again Dom!
Great video... Best DIY instructional vid on siding... Had no clue how the pieces attached to one another, nor any idea how to replace damaged siding. Thanks.
Thanks a bunch for making this video! I'm installing a ledger board and needed to know how to remove the siding on my house but was too scared to experiment with pulling real hard lol. I bought the tool and it worked like a charm. Thanks!
Thanks Dominic! I broke about 4 of the panels in my parent's house with hockey pucks, so I will be replacing them. This video definitely will save me a ton of money!!! Great video!
This video is fantastic! I just repaired about 35' of siding melted by my tenant's gas grill :( The removel tool referenced in the video is no longer available in the store (in Denver) at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware or Harbor Freight. It is available online at Lowes...but I couldn't wait. In desperation, I discovered you can use a "paint can lid removal" tool that has a good curve to the tip. (One of my paint lid removers was nicely curved and another one was not.) I was able to put it underneath the edge of the siding, pull it down and get it to lock into the piece below. The siding was old and hard to match, so I took siding off of the side of the house to replace the melted siding on the patio and purchased new to put back on the side of the house where it's not as noticable - so in all, I ended up replacing/moving around about 70' of siding. I'm a 51 year old female and I did it all myself...feeling very pleased with the results :) So ladies, don't be afraid to tackle this project.
Awesome vid! Thanks. A guy who installed my French doors didn't use flashing so I have a leak. Have to take the siding off to fix it ! This really helped to get it off without trashing it.
Nice! Thanks for the video. During our last heavy rain storm we discovered a leak at the inside top of a window casing. Water must be getting in somewhere above the window (behind the siding) so I need to take the siding off to find the fault. This info should help me get to the problem without damaging the siding so I can put it back in place after the leak is fixed.
I just moved my grill and found I did the exact same thing. Thank you for your tutorial and thank you for making me feel less of an idiot for melting my siding.
Great video Dominick! I'd been putting off this project for quite a while today but after watching your video.... ba-da-bing Ohhhhh!, it all came together.
Thanks for the video Dominick! We recently had someone set the side of our house on fire in an attempted arson and I can finally start working on getting it fixed. We have the same color siding as you do in the video and too, looking.
Very good! We're thinking about buying a house with siding challenges, it wasn't professionally installed. We may need work done on it and the roof as well. Thanks for the demo so we will know what to look for or what to ask when we look for contractors.
This video makes replacing siding seems super-simple. We cant wait to replace several chipped pieces on our home. Our brother-in-law is a butcher with a weedeater..
Just melted the siding on my Garage, with some ashes that quite weren't out in the Garbage can. ! Thanks for your vid. Perfect ! Time to replace the siding ........... Thanks again !
Bought a house in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area with siding... However, the inspector forgot to mention that behind the siding it doesn't have a vapor barrier. YAY, so now i have to DIY. Removing the siding, installing the vapor barrier and re-installing will now be a breeze. BTW, the tool for siding is available at home depot for around $5.66. Thank you askmediy for the video! I will be watching
I was gonna remove a whole wall section during my week off, to get the ply off and insulate my bedroom but looked at it and thought it was a horrible job too big for me. Then I thought I'd see on RU-vid if there's an easy way to get the cladding off. Wish I'd found this video a while ago! It's now going to rain so it will have to wait but at least I have the confidence now. Thank you
Thank you for doing this video, I did exactly that today, I was heating my BBQ up to clean it and got it way too close to my siding, and yup it melted a bit more than what you showed here, I needed this video to get mine fixed so Thanks a Ton....
Funny accent (I live in the south) LOL, but the information was great and extremely helpful! Thanks for posting and making it simple enough for me to figure out. I'm on the way to get the tool. Thanks again.
I had a strip of siding come loose (courtesy of Hurricane Gustov) and I'm going to fix it this afternoon. I'm glad I watched this because I probably would have over-simplified the task and hammered the nails in too tight, etc. Anyway, thanks!
I get lots of compliments everyday.. But none like yours. Thank you very very much. And yes I would love to have my own show. One day maybe... I hope, lol... Thanks again.. Regards... Dominick
Thank you Dominic great video I just needed to know how to take vinyl siding off in a particular area 4 ft off the ground so I didn't know how to start without breaking it. I need to see if there is a water leak from a pipe. So that's where your video came in real Handy thanks again....
Thanks for the video! Gotta pull off siding tonight as my window seems to be leaking somewhere from up top. Wasn't sure how to pull the siding off properly.
Really good video!!! Now I have a question. I have all siding like you do, from bottom to top, but I want to put brick from half way down. How do I do that??
