Nice job. I was able to find the jumper for the Toshiba L775D-S7206. If anyone needs it for that model its jrst2101 in the memory bay. Just use pencil lead to trace it in then use tape to remove the lead after.
Hi Brad! I just bought a satellite c55-c5241. I am now the second owner. The laptop cannot boot into bios and the enter password dialog box comes up after the toshiba splash screen. My first guess is around the CMOS battery area?
the trick to this is 1. get a flat object and wrap it in tin foil 2. make sure you touch the 2 contact points with the screw driver wrapped in tin foil 3. power on the laptop with just the power adapter connected and with 1 ram stick module in. 4. before the laptop is turned on make contact with the screw driver and the 2 contact points on the mb. 5. as soon as the logo appears take your tool off the 2 contact points.(this is critical!!!!). the laptop will look like it reboot its self. if you don't get a reboot then you will never get the bios cracked. thats how you instantly know it works.
+david valens Worked very well! I used a paper clip. For some people, you have to remove the black protective sticker under the RAM before you can see the 2 contact points. Do what these instructions say instead. Much easier. Thanks again!
It does not permanently fix the issue. There are two things that cause this issue: 1. A virus infects your system and gets into your CMOS. 2. Someone boots up into the BIOS and adds a BIOS password.

THANK YOU! it WORKS for Toshiba satellite a300 s17 1-unplug power cable, 2-remove memory card(s) jumber is beneath the first memory slot,check this pic www.edugeek.net/members/sergdol-albums-electonic-picture8583-img-1590-n.JPG 3-put back the memory card,in the second slot so you can see the jumber 4-plug the power cable 5-push gently and hold a small flat head screwdriver to connect the 2 pins of jumber , 6-turn on laptop. 7- HOLD screwdriver in place 10-20 seconds, i didnt see the windows logo,just a black screen. 8-switch off laptop,with the power button 9-turn on and windows will boot normaly! ------if not works first time repeat steps 5 to 9

I just want to thank you very much for the input on this. TO add additional information: I ended up putting just a little bit of solder on those points and used no RAM and beeped i let it sit for about 5 minutes, then added a RAM stick and booted again. It then showed the TOSHIBA LOGO and shuts off *Thats how you know it worked.

Little confused... first I heard hold driver on the jumpers for 20 seconds, then 1-2 minutes... then 5 minutes (for the first "shorting" attempt) I'm going to attempt it right now... but in my quick test hold, it was pretty difficult to hold it on both jumpers for even 30 seconds. I'll reply here after.

Even though it doesn't beep, just continue to hold the power button and the screwdriver on. Be sure not to release either until the laptop turns off. I don't know how long it will take you, but for me it took about 3 minutes. Insert one ram card, put screwdriver back on, and hold power button. It may turn on then back off quickly. If it does this take off the screwdriver and the laptop should turn on by itself. Immediately put the screwdriver back on and hold it. Continue to hold until a text screen pops up with a media failure, asks to insert hard drive, and a few other things. Turn it off, put in the hard drive, and it should work

Hello Brad, Thank you for sharing. we did finally got rid of the BIOS password. and the HDD password. We had to do it 2 times. Finally got into the boot menu. Now we have no bootable device. No Media file. Now for the next step,, any advice? Thanks again.. (we found the B500 soldering squares below the CMOS battery next to the disc drive component)
You can't turn it off? Even with no power cable or battery? Doesn't make sense. Here is what you should do, take a ball-pin hammer and smash that computer and buy a new one. This fix isn't a magic bullet.

Will this work on a Satellite L55? It only has one screw to open one box. I had a virus, it was working fine after finally fixing enough to reset to factory level. Than I saw the PASSWORD. Why would a virus, mine, a Trojan, do this?

Have you ever removed the bios password from a Toshiba L875D-S7332? It has several jump points in the memory bay, but they are not labeled as B500 or XXX. I would appreciate any advice that you can offer. In my searching I have found other people looking for solutions to this problem, but so far no answers.
Does this permanently prevent the same error? What the heck makes it do that top start with? I spent a few hours on mine getting it all set up and the next day I was locked out. It was a S875-S7356. Thanks for any more info!
On 12 or 14 Satellite Pro A300 laptops we succeeded in unlocking all but about 3. One of those had a broken ribbon connector on the motherboard for the keyboard ribbon which might explain it (you could still use an external USB keyboard). It certainly didn't work first time on all of them, but here are some of the issues that may have a bearing. All of them are likely to vary according to the laptop model, and even the version of BIOS. On these laptops, the jumpers to be shorted were under the RAM sticks, so using a screwdriver was simply not possible as they wouldn't boot at all with no RAM. We used a push-button on a pair of flying leads and soldered the leads to the solder pads. This was so much easier than the screwdriver method, as you can never be sure the screwdriver blade is touching both pads. But you need a fine-tipped screwdriver and a steady hand. On these laptops, the pads had no XXX or other marking, but were distinctive triangular solder pads like no others. On some, they were partially or completely hidden by a label. Timing is critical. The following sequence generally worked (I'll refer to the push button connecting the solder pads as the reset button): 1. Press and hold the reset button. Wait a few seconds. 2. While still holding the reset button, press and hold the power button. Wait a few seconds. 3. While still holding the power button, release the reset button. Wait until you hear the BIOS access the CD drive (the CD light will flash) and wait about a second longer. 4. Release the power button. Having followed the above procedure, press F2 when the BIOS splash screen appears, in order to enter the BIOS set-up. All you have achieved so far is to gain a one-time entry into the BIOS - you haven't actually cleared the password. Go to the Security menu and set a null password in both the User and Admin password fields. (Navigate to the password fields and just press Enter in each, then Save.) On one of the ones that failed with the above procedure, I reset by holding the power button at set 3 until the laptop powered off. At the next reboot, F2 allowed me to enter the BIOS and clear the passwords. The procedure seems to vary according to whether it's the User or Admin password that's set. I have with me one of the ones that we failed to reset which appears to have a User password as you can neither enter the BIOS nor boot into Windows without being confronted with the password prompt. Removing the battery while you remove the RAM, solder the flying leads and put back the RAM is certainly a good idea, and may be critical to the procedure.

Supervisor password is done in the same way on all computers! This is not the right way to reset! There is no need to disassemble the computer to reset bios. Do not do this at home! The correct way I described it on my canal.
Worked!!!! 3rd try held till it auto shut down. look for the 8500 the s955-5373 not marked with xxx. so it sent my laptop to a black screen unable to post and mr into panic thinking i made a paperweight. i yanked the ram back out of one slot and it posted. praise the heavens but now only half ram0.. f2 skip setting time and into the bios it went supervisor password unregistered. to be safe i set my own then erased it. saved and shut down then restored the ram chip and booted... back to 100 percent... roller coaster of hell yeah
That was scary. I just downloaded the Toshiba hardware setup utility. But it only deletes the user password not the master and it won't delete hard drive passwords, user or master.
