you're a legend! spent hours researching how to fix this and this was the first thing I saw but I wasn't sure whether it was safe to do with a working laptop so i looked at other ways to do this but the other fixes were too complex for me as a beginner in IT troubleshooting. Thanks!
Thank you very much. My son has a Satellite C855. The internal layout was slightly different, but the B500 was still almost under the RAM cards. The whole process took us less than 10 minutes. Thanks again!
Excellent video. Helped me get my sister's new Toshiba back for her to use after she forgot her BIOS password. Those solder points on the Satellite C855D-S5100 are still in the RAM bay and still labeled B500. Thanks, man!
Thank you - used your technique as well as some advice elsewhere for the m300 (2 triangle looking thingys near the cmos plus). Worked like a charm and I now have a media laptop .
Thanks Brian! Managed to pull a broken laptop out of the tip for $15, invested $85 in new parts to fix it up and was absolutely devastated when I got defeated by a bloody password screen. Your trick worked a treat. Now I just have to get rid of the HDD/SSD password...
Dude, you are so awesome!!!! WOW! How did you find this out - service manual? This is a well-kept secret, indeed! The only way I can pay you back is to pray for you, and I will indeed lift you up before the Throne of Grace. Thank you for your generosity, and blessings.
it worked. u can use a screw drive except for wire. also when it says "the firmware has detected that a cmos battery blah blah", be sure to press f1 (continue), holding the wire/screw driver on the two b500 slots. then it boots the os and u're done. thanks a lot for the helpful vid
Thanks a lot, this really helped me, I have a Toshiba Satellite L355-S78312. I followed what you said to do step by step and it works just fine now. Excellent work.
Life saver...my Mom got my brothers laptop after he died 8 years ago, lots of pictures and stuff on it, my sister accidently installed a bios password and forgot what it was...I was just able to bypass that issue thanks to this video, my Mom (and sister) will be overjoyed to get his pictures and videos again (I will copy them to a thumbdrive just in case! They are not very tech savy)...thanks again!
you the man!!! this method without a doubt 100% works!! i searched all over the web and this man here is the only one right!! way to go Paradise Tech!!! I am subscribing...
Thanks for this video. Bought a new toshiba laptop from Walmart that was a display model and they had a password on the bios, i can reset it now and set it up as i wish. Perfect video showing how to do it.
Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5200 Thank you, Brian, for uploading this helpful video. I went through every step in this video and believe it would have worked for me if I had not had a second password in Bios. A continued search for the solution led me to a better understanding of how to properly change or reset a password in Bios. Hope the info below helps someone out there. If you know the password and just want to disable it from popping up all the time: - Boot up the machine and once the Toshiba logo pops up, press "F2" to get into the BIOS. Note: I used F12 to access BIOS. - Navigate to HDD password option and press "Enter". - Enter the current password when prompted and press "Enter". - When prompted for new password, leave blank or enter new password and press "Enter". - Navigate to "Exit" and "Save All Changes". The computer will restart and the HDD password should not pop up anymore.
You Da Man. Good one, Found both the two spots held a screw driver across them. Turned laptop on for 5 seconds if, connected everything back, worked like a charm.
Thank you! Someone working in Office depo security or some local law enforcement criminal stole a paper notebook that I was copying notes to file my IRS and Georgia taxes, after I copied pages and was paying attention to other documents in another area. There has never been a single thing in my life that would justify this theft by tax-paid criminals, but the greedy tale is too long to relate. I was locked out of this older Toshiba Satellite for a couple years. I have 4 newer PCs and a Macbook, but it ticked me that those thieves deprived me of the use of a piece of my equipment. Now it is back up! Thanks again.
Thanks man you saved me a ton. I'll definitely check out more of your stuff. I locked my bios thinking well if my puter gets stolen they cant do anything. after not using it for 4 months I forgot the dang password. I'm getting old.
Worked a treat on a Toshiba Satalite A300 PSAG8E, only amendment I made was to solder the wire onto the 2 contacts, mine was labled XXXB500. This guarantees that the contacts are bridged.
Thank you this worked. At first I was using a cat 5 end that did not have a solid wire but a mesh . I used a cat 3 phone cable and striped the cable and it was solid. After followed the instructions it work the first time
The solder nodes were located in the bottom left hand corner of the RAM area on the Toshiba Satellite C855d-S5344. They were labelled B500 as mentioned in the video. Thanks.
It works on a300, I did it at my 3rd try. I have tried different combinations the worked one was. Remove battery, ram and hdd connect the charge cable, open the pc (it will not open ) do the jumper thing and without unpluging power cord put rams and hdd then open the computer.
Thank You Very Much For the help. i did a lot of research but i did not get any better solution until i subscribed to this video. The bios password is cleared now.Your are more than Good. thanks a lot.
@DIY Tech Thanks so much for creating this video. I have a Satellite L55 A5226 but I can't seem to find the jumper. I looked all over the web for where they may be located (like for schematics). I don't see any xx's, even under the RAM chips, and I have tried connecting two points on almost everything on this board. tried removing the CMOS battery, using "Toshiba" as the password, etc. Please assist.
Hello, this video made my day. Was able to reset bios in no time. Thanks. Now I have an inverted 7 and prompt, not sure what it means. Hoping is not the hard drive fried. Already ordered the disks to reset to factory. Any advice in the meantime?
Thanks a lot U R The MAN it worked on my Tos Sat A505 S 6980 it took me 5Sec. to clear the BIOS Password but it won't boot with the HDD i had to Replace my HDD. Thanks Again Kudos From Alpha Livescan Pmdl Ca
@Ed Miller - We charge $85 (USD) to do this. And it depends on where you are in the UK, you can get more if you are in a larger city, more rural areas, you may have to reduce the pricing. Let me know how it goes! Thanks for commenting!
Great video and very clearly spoken and explanatory. I was able to bypass the password on the second try but it was flashing and the screen went black. I cannot get it back to desktop. I did not have cat 5 cable and used the wire fraud it of a cat 3 RJ11. Could this be why it went black on me and how can I get it back? Thanks so much.
Hi Brian, Thank you so much for this very good video ! But I have this issue on a Toshiba Satellite C660D-15F and I don't find the nodes labeled B500. I have dismantled the motherboard completely. Do I have to look for another label ? best regards from France and thank you again for your wonderful job ! JP
