Removing LED lights from gamer mouse (Logitech G203) 

The g203 has on-board memory, so you could've just downloaded the software once, turned off the lights and then uninstalled the software instead of going through this.

This was the most surprisingly soothing video about removing lights from a mouse I've seen in my life.

I dont get why everything needs flashy lights these days.

I can't understand why so much hate. The video is great, even if there is the option to disable the RGB by the software, it's pretty cool to have a video showing how the mouse is inside.

For some operating systems, no software is available. E.g. the G302 I own has no Linux drivers. Thus, having a way to disable the LEDs via hacking the hardware is necessary. Useful tutorial, thanks!

Thanks for the video, I also removed the leds. The Logitech application is a data harvesting tool, it tried to read my discord info. To use it's features it must be open, no internal memory that holds the configured state after uninstall. Also after removing them the mouse temperature went down drastically.

there's a software to turn off the lights, you can even load a profile into your mouse so that it's always turned off, no matter where you use it

I have seen one of your pervious comments explaining you just wanted a reason to open it on video, But Someone else years ago had pointed out already you could have just downloaded the G-hub app and from the menu set the LED's to Off and set you dpi or dpi's and saved the profile to the mouse and from there no matter what system you decide to use the profile carry's over and yes you can use the other system to disable on-board memory but you must have G-hub on that system also installed and then set it to off after you can disable the profile. And I just want to point out that there are commenter saying that they have on-board memory on and LED's flash? maybe check the USB port on your system/motherboard/front panel. anyways I had this mouse for about 4 years now and I gave to my brother and he still has it, got myself a g703 w/ HERO Lightspeed and also picked up the "new" g203 lightsync and love the feel and shape. Great video.

Your audio volume is too low.

Logitech software is really nice, you could have just downloaded and installed it instead of ruining a perfect mouse...

The screws were so well hidden under the rubber residue that I assumed there was none and I had to break the mouse to open it.. Big thanks to the person at Logitech who chose this pad.. Now I have a donor mouse..

My daughter wants to build a gaming PC with RGB lights. I was thinking about buying this mouse to teardown and adapt the lightsync system on the leds of the cabinet.

IS there a metal weight anywhere in there? Or any easily removable weight. It is heavier than necessary. I like lighter weight mice and disagree that weights or heavier mice are needed. Whatever reasons given for that weight, are not good reasons to me. I've been using vinyl floor tiles as mouse pads for decades, it does not need excess weight to work. Just slows down my gaming and increases fatigue. I find the vinyl tile best overall by far. Any fancy expense mice and mice pads are gimmicks. I'm impressed by the G203 but I will be trying to reduce it's weight. Its noticeably heavier than a similar Logi mouse I got many years ago, it had a removable weight. Same body shape. But the old one did not have 1000hz polling rate, just 125. edit: I just weighed them roughly, old one about 70.6g, g203 about 86g. I placed the cord level on something 3 inches over to mostly negate cord weight from the measurements, as mouse was on scale. I immediately noticed the extra 15g. Really want to lose at least that much. Wow I really hate that DPI button, I don't ever want or need to change that, it may get pressed accidentally. I want to disable that but really I don't want the weight of that component or that button there but I doubt I can remove it. idk for sure. I love the shape and polling rate I wish the made a lighter weight, 'gamers only' versions for minimalist gamers. I don't want anything but left/right click and scroll with scroll button also. I never ever use thumb buttons. But Idk if what I want exists, I doubt it, I want exactly like this mouse without those things.

The $25 g203 lightsync i bought last week has this awful rgb lights, sadly turn them off on logi hub just work after windows starts, so i had to do the same as you. cheers!

great video, I was having some problems finding that last screw, and couldn't find a good demo video. I've had this thing for about a year, the scroll wheel was getting a bit gross and cleaning from the outside wasn't working. I uh, I can't vouch for cutting off the LED's, but good video.

Thanks for making this video. I just cut the ridiculous, stupid LEDs out of my G203. I found it tremendously satisfying... almost as satisfying as never installing their crapware.

This mouse has the sweetest, most crisp and light clicks Ive seen. And the shape is best for me. If only it was glossy, 30g lighter, had a para-cord, the scroll wheel was not so abrasive to the finger, and no thumb buttons... it would be perfect, lol. Yeah I've struggled with thought of trying to mod all that to those targets, but I don't think I will undertake that.

My work pc doesn't allow me to download additional software. So I downloaded it to my home pc, turned off the lights, plugged it back into my work pc, and sure enough the lights were back on. Note I shorted out the led connections bad and couldn't get them unshorted, but it is still working as of now so we will see if it damage anything in the long run. I didn't have anything to precisely cut them so I just yanked them with pliers

You could've configured the mouse to turn off the lights using Logitech software then uninstalled it, the settings are saved on the mouse itself. I usually put masking tape over the leds on pc accessories for personal use because I don't like the gamer bling myself.

Okay I'm not gonna lie this was a dumb way to resolve a problem, but as the author said in the post below he just wanted an excuse to open the mouse and mess around with it. Nothing bad with that, instead I found it useful as I was wondering on how to open it as I want to clean the mouse wheel.

It's so much more of a hassle to open the mouse and cut the lights than to just download a software and turn the lights off and deleting it afterward you just wasted precious time and effort you could of also break your mouse.

hahah even if you just did it for an excuse to open and see inside the mouse and getting rid of the rgb, you could've just use black tape over the leds to make them not visible no neet to butcher them!

the lightsync version of the g203 doesn't have onboard memory to store settings. the only way to change the leds without ghub running in the background is fix the hardware like this...

Lol...that mouse has internal memory...ones you program it correctly to have it's lights off, (even if you have to run the software in sandbox), you'll never see it lightup again until you reprogram. RTF̶ M :p
