damn, i just purchased this laptop yesterday and im about to open it to add my HDD 2 TB , now after watching this it makes me sick knowing it has no place for additional HDD
This video looks like it shows two slots that have wireles lan cards in it. I believe the secondary slot can be used for a HD I belive it's a mSATA drive. I have a Dell Latitude 5591 and it has a drive in it like that. It looks like a half size M.2 drive. This one came with the laptop so not sure how much they cost. The one I have in it is a 500GB drive and in the m.2 slot in a 1TB drive so if the HP MB is similar to the Dell then that other slot should work.
I'm a thermals zealot, and I'm eyeing the lower-end models of this 450 G8 family, with an IGP (UMA). I'm wondering if it's mechanically possible to retrofit the beefier "discrete" heatsink and fan into the IGP/UMA machine - thus alleviating the RocketLake's propensity to CPU throttling :-) That would be a welcome upgrade.
I wanted to replace the pre-installed ssd m.2 PCIe 3.0 with Samsung 980 pro m.2 PCIe 4.0, but the specification only supports ssd m.2 PCIe 3.0 drives. Could you tell me which PCIe version is in the 450 g8?

Can you help me with recommendation for fixing the HDMI input. the hdmi took a hit from a lightning strike. It no longer outputs video, but a monitor does momentarily detect something is plugged in to output video but does not receive any feed then goes back to sleep. how might i repair this. would it be the hdmi connector itself or is there a capacitor or fuse somewhere on the board that corresponds to it that may need replacing if its still being detected???

+A I Your laptop came with 120gb M.2 2242 SSD in the M.2 wireless WWAN slot. Your only option to put another SSD is in 2.5 inch SATA bay. If M.2 2242 SSD is the boot drive, 2.5 inch drive can be made as storage drive.
He is absolutely wrong. The G8 laptop come with 2280 M.2 NVMe drive and there is the second M.2 2280 slot. There is no 2242 flash and 2.5" slot at all.
@@emmanueledefelice5029 , as I saw later in other reviews, there is one M.2 2280 NVMe slot for system drive (that came as pre-installed in all 450 G8 configs) and one short M.2 (like 2242) for WWAN adapter that is probably may be used with SATA-SSD-M.2-drive (never saw anybody used 2 drives in the same time). HP Support comment refers to the older model, which did not have the 2280 at all.
