In this video I'm working on a L3130 with a LA723 front end loader with seized up pins that were not taking grease that needed to be removed, cleaned up and reinstalled. Had to get creative with the welder, torch and jackhammer!

Pretty cool. Dealing with same issue on ancient 455c backhoe where the farmer who cheaped out on a LOT of stuff... like lubrication of pins, missing zerks, etc. Going out with the air-hammer today and try again since the 8# sledge hammer did squat.

Best of luck! Couldn't believe how stuck they were in there!

Yeah I CANT STAND IT! Its like a freeway posted at 30mph. Can't wait to get outta here but a short commute to work and having a few acres here in the city is pretty uncommon. Thanks for tuning in

Great job getting those pins out. I like the idea of using a impact hammer and lathe to take the mushrooming from the pin. It is always a shame to use heat and burn the paint but I am sure it would not have moved without heat
@Tyler_Koehn
@Tyler_Koehn 3 года назад
The heat moving it was my thought too Joseph! Did the best I could with what i had. The other option that I've seen others share is a lancing rod but I'm not familiar with them anyways. Thanks for tuning in!

I can honestly say this is the first time I've seen this tried. But hey it worked great.

Haha I'd maybe have tried the lancing rod method had I taken the time to research them and had it available. Just glad it worked out. Thanks for watching Jack!

It was kind of a situation of what else can I do. Has been working for my father since. Another option is lancing rod but I do not have one or know anyone with one.

@@Tyler_Koehn Good video Tyler. We have a couple pins like that that people forgot to grease and got seazed. We also have that same jack hammer. Were you able to buy a bit for it that worked well for this or did you have to modify one?
@Tyler_Koehn
@Tyler_Koehn Год назад
@baldmenafield I just took the pointed one that came with it and cut the tip off. I also made an adapter for that same bit to pound tpost's nto the ground.

If u put something against the opposite side like the forklift the hammer would work better

Thanks Thomas! Yeah I'm glad it worked otherwise I think the options consist of a lancing rod! Thanks for tuning in and commenting!

How's she goin'? Owning a tractor is great, but we have to be able to do repairs like this or we would be in the poor house getting the dealer to do it!! Thanks for sharing and take care!!!

I always thought those pins should have 3 different diameters. The end with welded retainer should be as an example 25mm, then the portion going through lifting cylinder 24.5mm, then finally the last bore 24mm and that final end should be held in place with a split taper hub. Basically.020" difference in diameters 😂But hey, what do l know

I have the same issue with my 4600 Ford. I also am concerned about heating it up and changing the metal hardness. I also have a jack hammer, quite a large one and was thinking of doing the exact same thing.
@Tyler_Koehn
@Tyler_Koehn 2 года назад
The one other option I saw was a lancing rod but I don't know anyone that has one nor did I want to purchase one for something I don't do often. Maybe if you just had one it might be worth drilling it out. It came down to for me was that I figured it would be better to do something rather than nothing about it.
@davebrittain9216
@davebrittain9216 2 года назад
@@Tyler_Koehn First thing I will try is the jack hammer as I have that now. I think drilling would not be an easy job and I would really be worried about going off true and damaging the surrounding parts.

If I only remove one at a time and replace it before removing another, is it safe to remove all loader pins without a stand or something to hold it up? Will any of them cause an arm to fall when I remove it?
@Tyler_Koehn
@Tyler_Koehn 2 года назад
I couldn't give you sound advice without seeing the situation to be honest. In my senerio I was able to as you saw but I would say it's always better to be safe than sorry.
@Brindle_Boxer
@Brindle_Boxer 2 года назад
@@Tyler_Koehn That’s fair. I’m probably just being paranoid because I’ve never done it before though. I’ll see if I can find a video of someone removing that specific pin. It’s the first joint, closest to the tractor.
@Tyler_Koehn
@Tyler_Koehn 2 года назад
@@Brindle_Boxer Yea it's hard to say. If you have the boom on the ground it might be doable. But again hard to say.
