Awesome information. I’ve been out of the shops for over fifteen years and am somewhat new to this platform. I’m currently replacing the engine in my wife’s 13 Avalanche and let me tell ya… NEVER EVER AGAIN. I now remember why I moved into service writing and then out of the industry all together.😂
I agree completely with you. Add a little heat to it. I'm actually dealing with some stuck hex screws right now I'm gonna put the propane. Map gas on it and see if it loosens up. But I like how you show the service port has a back where you can access the back of the screw. That's key to this whole job.
These three bolts are kicking my ass... iv got one finally so two bolts. This engine swap has turned into a time consuming issue due to these Allen head bolts.!!
I just done mine in my 01 gmc 5.3 and used extensions at the front of the truck got all 3 out but not without busting my knuckles first ouch but im going to replace rhem with regular bolts thats for sure
You mean they were cross threaded? Take it back apart Drill out the messed-up threads Tap to a larger size If that is not possible, then the anchors will have to be removed and new ones installed.
Update: I tried the this method it did not work for me. So what I did I heated the bolt for about 4 minutes than put a breaker bar with a 8mm hex and luckily it worked and I didn’t round out the nut.
I'm working on my first ls 5.3 everyone loves these engines why ??? This has been the BIGGEST PILE OF SHIT I HAVER LAYED WRENCHES ON BESIDES A JAGUAR LONG TIME GM FAN BUT GAHH LEEE MAN ! The fucking cam bearings fall out when you pull the cam fucking really 😅!! I've never in the 100 cam swaps on gm ford's dodge seen somthing soo pathetic . The ones that didn't fall out look like some one went in there with a die grinder with a cartridge roll for porting all I can say is I sure hope this cam swap and head work ,tune an torque converter wakes this turd up !. My 1997 z71 could do donuts around this turd !!! Sorry I was just venting !!
