Ren is NEVER what you are expecting. 😁 "Back On 74" is by Jungle, from late last year. It uses a familiar guitar riff from "Message in a Bottle" by the Police, released in 1979. Ren put them together with his special sauce. Head over to Ren Makes Stuff to watch Ren tell his life story . . .

He is from Wales and started making beats at 12. Parents took him to hippie music festivals. Started busking in Bath when in university and was signed by Sony, but got sick and bedridden from 19 to 26. But still weote music and sold for medical treatments. Had a You Tube channel. And played in busking band 2017-2022 the Big Push.

This is like the best Lounge Lizard of all time. Ren and crew can do this all night and I would just sit there and drink and enjoy.

Crazy runs and harmonies, filthy bars to remind us that he is also still a cheeky boi, and that voice that’s perfect for Sting/The Police songs. Ren has music in his soul and pours so much soul into everything he does. We’re just lucky to witness it 🐰🕳️

Back on 74, and Message in a bottle, are two covers sprinkled with Ren's own flavour, but the rap part in the middle was Ren's composition...

Back on 74 is a song by the group Jungle. It came out in 2023. Ren is doing a cover here.

If you rewind a little, after pausing, you won't miss anything. :) Btw, Ren was harmonising beautifully, with the backing singers, all the way through. You just didn't notice until towards the end. :) Ren's far too unique and talented for any tv talent show! He's just been really into music from an early age and is almost entirely self-taught! I can tell that it's early in your Ren journey, so you've yet to appreciate the ridiculous range and depth of his talent and the adversity he faces daily to create at all! Ren does it ALL and usually live and in a single take. You've only really heard one and a bit of his varied vocals. He has incredible vocals, capable of multiple voices, styles and tones! He raps like a rap god, scats and beatboxes brilliantly! He plays about a dozen instruments well. Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well! As I said, all self-taught! He's his own audio engineer, lays down all his own music/beats/audio and does his own production, exquisitely! He arranges all his live music too and composes for a whole range of instruments. His performance skills are first-class too and his stage presence is palpable! He directs most of his own videos and many, like this one, are recorded live, in one take! His songwriting skills are world-class! Especially his lyricism. He a poet really and a bloody great poet at that! What's more, he does it in EVERY genre and doesn't miss, no matter the style or genre! Rock, reggae, punk, soul, rap, R&B, hip-hop, dance, edm, jazz, blues, folk, classical, medieval, funk, pop... He does it all and does it all brilliantly! Ren's a unique artist. A musical genius! A once in a generation talent! Definitely react to more Ren! You won't be disappointed! You WILL be surprised... constantly! :)

Yes, you don’t know what to think when every time you watch something by Ren it is completely different from what you are expecting. It upset me for a long time, and I don’t know why because I thought I disliked predictable music. I’m still nervous when he produces something new, and I don’t know what I’m going to get. Thank you for reacting to this. I love absolutely everything about this video - especially the harmonies.

This review is fantastic! I loved how much you enjoyed it. All that I know is you need to dive all the way into Ren because you have not even begun to be amazed. He’s one of the best storytellers I’ve seen in my lifetime and I’m 53.

Ren was a signed artist when he was in college and then suffered with undiagnosed Lyme's Disease for many years which crippled his career. When he was finally properly diagnosed and received stem cell treatment, he reemerged as an Independent artist on RU-vid.

Ren is a better singer & musician hands down than he is a rapper & hr is great at rapping lol. Chalk outline live version next !!!

Ok so if you wanna feel it bigtime, then you gotta do Ren Ft. Chinchilla "Chalk Outlines" and "How to be me" and then for the Finale...Chinchilla's "1:5"....Which trust will make you feel like never before. Ren started busking at the age of 13, a few years later a producer for Sony Records saw him and he was signed. Sadly he became gravely ill and of course his was unable to record and left the label soon afterwards. Ren was mis-diagnosed and given improper treatments and medications for years after. From the age of 19 to 25, Ren spent most of his life confined to his bedroom and often bedridden. Meanwhile his physical and mental health declined, the only thing he could do was write and produce music in his bedroom studio. Eventually he was properly diagnosed with Lyme Disease, a very rare disease in the UK. Lyme Disease affects the body in a horrible manner and people who have it suffer for years from it, even with treatment. More recently Ren has been living in Canada undergoing treatments for Lyme Disease and to also undo the damage from all the improper medications he was given. Ren's story is deep, real and raw. I highly suggest watching Ren's Chapters Series Parts 1-8. He tells this story and it is emotional, funny and chocked full of insight. You have only scratched the surface with Ren, in my mind the last artist with this level of talent...was Prince.
