Are there already other black country artists? Yes! But do they have the same star power as beyonce to shake up the industry? No! Bey will definitely be reclaiming country music for black people, same as she just did with house. I really hope she has K. Michelle and other black country singers featured on a song.
So you literally just insulted and belittled all the established black country artists to a person who will pretend to be a country artists and as expected do a poor attempt at country music because it's not authentic?
@@nesq4104 did you read my comment and understand it or did you just want to reply? And pretend to be country? You do know that Beyoncé is from Texas right?
@@RamboQuellz and being from Texas makes her a country musician? I'm highly confused. If I go back to Gurlz time her first group looks like she's always been pop/rnb. Your argument is like saying a Haitian who grew up in Miami is a is a natural Cuban salsa musician. 😂.
@@RamboQuellz to your point also I thought she was French gitchie or something. I guess she claiming everything. She should do a Louisiana Creole album because she's Caucasian Creole too
@@nesq4104 She can do whatever she wants. Why does she have to put herself in a box musically because that's where you personally feel like she should be? She did what she needed to do to break into the industry, and now that she's in, she's doing things her way, creating the music she wants to and bringing more awareness to the topic of black artist in country
As a Beyonce fan, I love the fact that Beyonce keeps reinventing herself. I feel like people have a problem with Beyonce because they only see her a pop star. I’m glad Beyonce is ignoring the haters and continues to do her.
@@waterdog737 there were elements of blue grass and gospel but country. Fuck no. This new song isn't country either it's r'n'b with a guitar and red neck bingo lyrics. It sucks
The amount of people in the comments immediately going into saying she can’t do country is INSANEEEE. You summed up everything perfectly and yet still people will find problems with her trying to break the mold
Considering how well Dangerously In Love, B'Day and IA...SF did, yeah it was sort of her flop era. None of the singles had good chart performances and the album had her lowest debut sales (and I also think it's her album that sold the least amount of copies overall in her career). It wasn't really a "flop-flop" but if you look back on where she was before 4, yeah, she flopped real bad.
I run a live music entertainment business, personally I have been a karaoke hostess for 11+ years. And I’m a black girl from Texas. And people hear me sing Daddy Lessons and think it’s a Dixie Chicks song 🙃 Sis is constantly raising the bar and getting no recognition, and it just fuels her fire. It makes her great. Those who know, know.
She’s already done that!!! That’s not reclaiming black genres You’re missing the trend in front of your face It will be rock She’s releasing the country album on the 50th anniversary of Tina Turner releasing her first country album.
It frustrates me when ppl say Renaissance was house. Objectively speaking the only straight house song was break my soul. Every other song was another iteration of dance. I don’t think the general public know what house even means. To house music lovers it’s such a particular, distinctive sound. Break my soul sounds like nothing else on Renaissance because it’s the only classic house track. Renaissance was very much multifaceted musically which is reflective of how many talented people including Beyoncé ofc contributed to the album
More Black country artists have been getting recognition this last week because of Beyonce. Ive discovered some incredible Black country artists this week.
This is why black history needs to be taught in schools, because alot of people don't know black people created country music, rap music, and rock & roll music
Beyoncé is the GOAT. She really is the epitome of work ethic, strategy, and talent. She really is working for the long-game/ with the intent of leaving a legacy. She has a genius mind and she is showing us that with every new era. What a queen.
If Beyoncé be dipping in other genres, mami better give us a reggaeton album! Bey gave us a bit of Spanish on Bday + collaborated with J Balvin pero yo quiero un disco de puro perreo!
STOP PORQUE LITERALMENTE I would loose my shit if she made an entire album in Spanish. You know what would be insane for this upcoming country album if she has a collab with Groupo Frontera and or makes a tejano/norteña song (in a similar fashion Irreemplazable norteña version)!!
Yes!! Beyonce is doing Blues/Americana which has DEEP African American roots. And she's brought some very special heavy hitters, within the genre, along for the ride to E-DU-MUH-CATE the Folk on the history. ;) We know of Rhiannon Giddens, who I've been following for years, who was playing the banjo on the Texas Holdem track. She's also an INCREDIBLE vocalist and all-around phenom talent. Looking forward to March to see what other significant Black players/pioneers she'll be showcasing.
The Goat is matchless and cannot be compared to the swiftly girl 👧 child. She is also a Marketing Genius…She wore a cowboy hat and Country Western outfit (seemed out of place) 😮 to the Scammy Awards and then dropped an Album, featuring two sound tracks: 16 Carriages and Texas Hold ‘em-Genius!
Beyoncé is the only star rated vocalist to have debuted in the 21st century Prior century in that category was Whitney and Mariah Taylor Swift is a D RATED VOCALIST!!! She’s. At the bottom of the totem pole Please don’t allow anyone to compare the two There is no comparison !
She’s releasing the country album on the 50th anniversary of Tina Turner releasing her first country album. Everything she does is with purpose! We are definitely getting rock!!!
ROC Nation has never promoted Beyoncé she has been signed to Columbia one of the biggest record labels in the world and has a distribution deal through them before that Matthew had her doing her own promo through commercials and interviews which over-saturated her image
There are black artists already doing House, Country and Rock. (NEZ, Mickey Guyton, Gary Clark Jr for example) I don’t know why you have to wait for beyonce to do these genres before you start acknowledging the genres and the black artists that do these… Why don’t you guys support these artists instead of always propping up beyonce when she hops on a bandwagon?
It’s called clout ! She brings black clout of millions. Just like Taylor brought clout of young adult /teenagers to watch NFL, don’t believe look it up . CLOUT !!
@@Goddess_InfinityShe's not bringing clout to anyone because folks are still not talking about the other Black country singers. Once Beyonce moves on so will they
I’ve been in the house/dance music scene for over almost 2 decades and it is alive and well. Beyonce did not “bring it back” because it was never dead! Lots of different colors and shades are passionate about dance music. Probably the least discriminating genre because it’s all about coming together to enjoy the music. Some of my favorite top producers which happen to be black are: Black Coffee, MK, Carl Cox, and Green Velvet. All of them are well respected and loved by people who love this genre. I’m excited to start seeing people be more open to new genres and just making new friends with different kinds of people.
@@Goddess_InfinityHow? House was already popular before Beyonce dropped Act I, especially in Europe. Country is already big too (but the fans gatekeep). And more clout for Rock? Seriously? Do you not know how popular that genre is already? Most of the best-selling artists (especially when it comes to pure copies sold) are Rock.
@@AngeBiampandouperiod and sometimes we have to remind ourselves that no matter how much fame or money you attain simply being anything other than white will unfortunately always play a factor.
How is she reclaiming House music when it’s already dominated by black artists and was already big before Act i dropped? How is she reclaiming country when we have plenty of black artists who are big in country? This is just a cash grab, her fans will jump on the bandwagon and won’t care about the genre afterwards when she moves on to something else.
I don’t care much for today’s country music but, I’m looking forward to this album ‘cause it is Beyoncé and I like HER as an artist. I’m from the era where Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts…even OG Taylor Swift, were doing country pop so looks like country is getting shaped up again!
Ppl always hate on Beyoncé n come up with so much conspiracies to demonise and diminish her accomplishments more than any artist I know. I respect her for always pushing boundaries n representing through her music. To me she’s the most mainstream alt artist lol
Y’all can’t tell me that she doesn’t listen to Martina McBride. What I loved about “Lemonade” is the fact that she used so many genres like when she had that rock song bruh she did her thing.
Okay, I can't speak on the history of country musicians (I don't listen to that genre, nor am I educated in it), but I have to disagree on the "reclaiming rock" side of things. Bey might have done great with "Don't Hurt Yourself," but artists like Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and Chuck Berry have been legends for decades.
THE artist? I hope she wears that badge well. The 1st global famous musician who had that badge adorned upon them was none other than Prince. Immediately after his simultaneous Grammy & Academy Award wins for Purple Rain (unprecedented in the history of modern music), what does he do to prove that he would not be boxed into a one dimensional musician? He puts out Around the World in a Day. An album that many compared to what the Beatles did with Rubber Soul, Revolver and then Dr. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band. In both instances- Prince and the Beatles did a sudden, calculated huge disruptive shift in the direction they were going. With Prince- industry "experts" had announced that he was finished. Prince: "Yeah awards are cool, but I did not get into this industry to win an award. I got into it to do it my way, say what I wanted to say, play music the way I wanted too". And so he did, he lost some fans stuck back in that Purple era, but continued to pick up more and more with every different genre he ventured into. Be it r&b, soul, pop, new age, metal, rock, folk, funk, Rap and so much more, in his own way Prince got into all of that! Some were wondering if Prince was trying to have his music played on virtually every different genre radio stations out there! He did his way. Beyonce is doing it her way. "To their credit, the wisest thing Warner Bros did (for Prince) was to get out of his way"- Frank Zappa Are you listening Columbia Records? Stay out of Bey's way, and let her do her thing. What one insider said about Fiona Apple & Prince most cetainly apploes to Beyonce, she is "one of those mo****f***in' True Artists!"
That was during that time. Times has changed and many great artists came after Prince and let's not forget before. And I'm not saying these other artists are better than him. But people are great in their own way and right every musician works hard just as Prince did and the Beatles, whether they're famous or not.
Please bring up the proof of this, because one minute it's "Beyonce isn't a real singer song writer because she has way too many people writing her lyrics" and then it's "she never gives credits" despite there being no proof 😂, it's truly the "Beyonce paradox" one minute she never gives credits but the next she gives too much credits, make y'all minds up please
Great video. I will say I don’t have a problem with Beyoncé reinventing herself. Artists do that from time to time. Tina Turner went from doing R&B to becoming the Rock and Roll 🤘🏾 Queen so I’ve seen this before. The slight issue I have with Beyonce’s albums as of late is she seems to be all over the place. She also seems to be chasing the album of the year Grammy. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting the award I find it interesting she’s won more Grammys than anyone and still doesn’t feel complete. Which is why quality over quantity will always reign supreme. As BP we feel entitled to other cultures Blacks create because we share the same race and we need to visit that. House music is Midwest Black culture. True artists of this culture like Kid sister for example was overlooked. Country was created by BP in Tennessee. I think if you’re going to go this route at least take time to learn about a culture that’s not yours. There’s plenty of people who did country (ex. Nelly 20 years ago remember his first album) and now you all are talking about Beyoncé taking country back? House and country been here and been Black. We all don’t have the same culture and that’s okay but take time to learn about the culture of what you’re doing instead of feeling entitled to it because we’re Black. Irish and Italians are both white but understand this. We don’t and that’s a problem.
Is unfortunate that your opinion doesn't really count, she does whatever the hell she likes, irrespective of whether or not she learn the culture. she produces albums; get critically acclaimed ratings, with impressive commercial sales, gross high in tours, Soo 🤷🏾♂️. Lols "Her album is a little all over the place" "Quality over quantity..." that is to you, and is okay, music is subjective, as those tours, sales and ratings says otherwise. She could be chasing after the AOTY or not, but that still serves as a fuel for her to even push herself further and beyond, while they keep denying her the AOTY, she keeps breaking other grounds, so is a win/win for her at last.
You people have problem with others who refused to be caged into the box you created for them. She is living her life, at best ignore her if you don't like her music.
She’s not reclaiming anything. I don’t know where that narrative came from but it’s false. A black country group was literally nominated for best new artist at this year’s Grammys. We really need to do better research and pay respect to those that are currently doing it.
Reclaiming Black music? Lol. Yall do the most over Beyonce. Yall do know that there are Black country and rock singers right? Beyonce is not reclaiming anything.
@@Ceetv.Clarissa Shining a light?😂 Beyonce is a silly gimmick now. You really believe she cares about Black country singers? She's walking around with a cowboy hat and boots on. She looks ridiculous. Y'all not going to care about country music once Beyonce moves on to the next genre just like y'all don't care about house music anymore.
@@Ceetv.ClarissaShining a light?😅 You really believe Beyonce cares about country music like that? She'll be on to the next gimmick and yall will forget about country music just like y'all did house music 😅
She definitely is. Let's be real yes there are other black country singers but they don't have the star power to really make any noise or shake up the industry like Bey can the hive has already caused country music stations to play her 2 new singles even though they didn't want to!
RIGHT. They never acknowledge other black artists who are already creating within these particular genres they wait for the most glorified, mainstream black artist to do it before they start caring. If beyonce cared about “reclaiming these genres” she with her supposed influence should help promote these black artists or collaborate with them but she won’t because reclaiming is not the true motive. She’s desperate for AOTY. It’s all for her gain. Her and her greedy husband.
We will when the industry does. The industry literally tells people "you're black, you won't be successful in that genre, you have to do this genre." Same with the public. Why don't you tell people to stop telling black people they can't do certain styles of music
She’s reclaiming what’s been stolen from us. It’s not our fault it happened that’s why we are talking about it and happy about it. It’s not really a negative thing….
Hiw the heck did Beyonce reclaim House Music. Somerhing has to be removed and gone in oder to be reclaimed. And house music is still has majoraly been dominant by Black Americans, and was never mainstream rather widely unpopular across the world outside a specific demographic. Then on top of it Beyoncé still couldn't make it mainstream. Her country singles suck. Sure Black Americans were innovators of an offshoot Folk genre, Country music. But how is Beyonce reclaiming elements that made up country music, that predated its innovation. So again Country music isn't soley Black Americans to even claim. The fact Country music is an innovation highlights that music is only progressive, and non ones original. All that matters is who sounds the best. The sound of what music is is ever changing, such as country music, which alone is no longer familiar to how country music initially sounded. But also there's many different sub genres that started further distinguishing the sound from orginal Country music.
Everyone on planet earth knows black men have a weird obsession with light skin, now all of a sudden those same black men want to act shocked and appalled by beyonce light skin. Black men be manipulating relentlessly 😂
Listen, it’s not that Beyoncé can’t do country because she can she just does not sound right doing it. She doesn’t sound authentic like an artist such as K. Michelle for instance Beyoncé sounds like an R&B pop artist transitioning into country. It sounds like a money grab it sounds like I’m only doing this because I want that album of the year Grammy and R&B hip-hop none of those genres are charting right now you know where the money is at country it’s a money move money grab nothing is authentic about what Beyoncé is doing. It’s not about reinventing anything it’s about greed and being all over the charts.
Exactly, she doesn't have the versatility in her tone or voice to correctly portray a country song. And the country songs she released prove that she doesn't know much about the genre.
She could do a better job with country. She does have a good voice but I didn’t get country vibes at all from her songs. It just sounds like she’s trying to reinvent herself for a while and then go back to pop music after. Her new songs sound pop. Country music is more than just wearing a cowboy hat and talk about horses. She might be from Texas but she’s not representing the culture.
the roots of country music lay in the hands of banjo-playing Black slaves and minstrel-show performing sharecroppers, so country music is black music, just like almost every music genre.
