A little surprised here that the music was mixed as forward as it is. The principle is her vocal choices and the music is support for the song. We have seen the music being too forward in a number of her songs. Otherwise, the instrument choices and arrangement were great. She is always extraordinary.
❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 I don't know where you live, but Angelina is having a concert on September 20th in LA. Maybe you can go. Many have said she sounds better live than in recordings. Angelina is a very humble person. It's much easier to hear all the lyrics in the non a capella version.
Like your reviews of Angelina. This was good. If your curious to compare I would suggest you listen to the studio version shot in the church and a live performance with piano only at Sofar, (this is sung slightly different). Thanks again.
@@ige-individualgroupeffort-kenl To comment on that part at around 9:18 where she goes full voice and then 'drops' down to soft. Angelina actually flips into her head voice, but the transition is so smooth that it isn't jarring. This 18 year old is a pro and is only going to get better. One suggestion please don't try to mimic what she does, it doesn't come across well. And TOBY Gad is a grammy winning songwriter/ producer, who has worked with many uber-talented performers. He recognized Angelina's talent right away and immediately proposed collaboration in songwriting. That is where 'Bad Valentine' came from.
The one in the street is actually the same vocal track as the non a Capella church version. Listen to those two versions when you get a chance and see what you think. This a Capella version is definitely the best. In fact, it would have been better if the piano and cello had never come into play, as far as I’m concerned! You definitely made the correct decision!
I don't quite agree Kerry 🤷♂️! We need both versions "ACAPELLA" and "music" version cello 🎻 and piano 🎹! But the acapella version should include the whole song and not just the beginning! Angelina's voice 😲 echoes in the church again, a wonderful sound after effect 🇨🇭🙋♂️
Wise choice of versions. Great reaction about the production and vocals. So much emotion in all those layers of her voice. And her unique phrasing adds even more. For me, and from what Toby tells about the songwriter who experienced a breakup this song is about, the story Angelina emotes is not a whimsical musing of the perfect partner. Rather it is a soulful lament that boys, unlike girls, are socialized to think primarily of themselves, get to set the rules, and don’t seem to change when they become men. The heart-wrenching plea is that men -on a base level-must do better and here’s how: listen to your partner and don’t take them for granted. Beyoncé’s version lands on my ears as more of a high strung complaint. Both are valid.
Hi Ken. My suggestion is that you check Her original Princess of Ruins. She released it for the very first time at Her Vegas concerts a few minths ago. It's about the reason why She performes barefoot on stage. It's dedicated to the orphan girl She met in Iran when she was 6yo. Be sure to have plenty of tissues at hand.👍🫶👋
The song that Toby Gad wrote with her for her voice BAD VALENTINE is exceptional and even better than this. If you listen to her brilliant underated by the global music market EP OLD ENOUGH last year the track ...( there is a great black and white performance mv) NOW IM THE FOOL. I would make a guess Toby used that song as the jump off idea for BAD VALENTINE as it seems to tell the story of NOW IM THE FOOL FROM THE OTHER PERSONS POINT OF VIEW. OLD ENOUGH mixes genre cocktails and seems to progress through the decades. Angelina who can flex her vocals any which way she pleases keeps a consistency by using a jazzy soulful, vocal with a little more fry and attitude. I would reccomend this surprising collection of tracks . Her pre release LOVE DONT LET ME GO has the most views but is my least favourite. Which are Now Im The Fool and GOOD IN GOODBYES. My friend however prefers Its All My Fault and Diamond. I suppose it depends on your genre preferences which track you prefer as the tracks have different genre blends. Angelinas writing has been consistently advanced for her age since she was 12. But Republic Records has put her with a long line of Grammy winners. Toby is the latest. They are obviously invested in her development as a future hit maker and shes going to grammy school to learn how to take the 100 songs in her note books into comercial hits.
