Props for getting this out so fast. Your thoughtfulness has quickly made you one of my favourite reactors. I really appreciate that you don’t just watch it in silence and then tell me you liked it.
Yes, Ren said he did the arrangements. It's the ones he did for SGP - the festival he performed at last month - he said at the time that he would do videos as it would be a shame to only use the new arrangements for SGP. And he loves a string quartet. (And a trumpet. Well, he just loves music, full stop.) His original used The Verve's music. Really enjoy the extra thoughts. Well done for getting it out so fast. More (fresh!) Ren next week - yay!
I loved your reaction to this. You really get the music. You're correct. Ren made the arrangement of the strings. Just add composer to the list.🤣 (he composed all the music to MG3 as well). Also, John Frusciante is one of Ren's many musical influences.
It is so refreshing to watch some REAL music, I could watch Ren all day long and it would be music, to theater , to thought provoking lyrics. I love that you get Ren's uniqueness.
Love that Ren draws inspiration from artists that were "before his time", some quite literally. The Verve released their original in '97 during the height of "Britpop" (Oasis, Blur and others). When Ren creates a retake, it's not just to grab sampling- he is paying homage to the artist that came up with a piece that he truly enjoys. You know that the man can pen incredible tracks of his own, which is what makes an offering like this even more special. (Note: Yes, I know Ren is from 1990 and was referring to the fact that he was 7. The "literally" was meaning Bob Marley, The Police and others)
Ken, really enjoy your reactions (and your channel). I hope you get a chance to see his original version (video) of this. I just started this (and I'm sure it is going to be great) but there were some great timing issues of the action in the original version that were really incredible. I've always loved the melody of the Verve original but, to me, Ren has made a special song of it! Just saying. And it seems some people may be commenting similar sentiments. But, as always, I am glad to watch your journey of discovery (and watch some things for the first time as well.) 🙂
Great Reaction 😊 Another one of my favorites from REN with his Trick the Fox Band is the song “ Street Lights” The Live Performance I think you’d enjoy listening to that one too.
in this live version, i feel you have to listen to it twice, one focusing on the lyrics, the other focusing on the sounds, ambiance, and instrumental, good headphones are a must.
Murderer is his BEST live acoustic, in my humble opinion. They are all beautiful, because he’s a beautiful artist, but I just loved Murderer. Listen to the original video first, then the live acoustic video. ♥️ When you can of course! 😊
That - "bare with me" stop - was perfectly conducted for the quartett by Ren = short turn towards them to get their attention and then turning back towards the camera and doing the executive gesture and he did an executive gesture again in order to end the slight slower in tempo played legato part while saying "Britain" in order to get the quartett back into the normal slight faster tempo. As far as I could recognize those were the only 2 occasions where Ren actually controlled/conducted the quartett
Great reaction. It looks to me that Ren is also conducting his 'mini orchestra', lol. They seem to follow his left hand for their cues for where the music is going and when. He really isa very talented creator.
We are all lucky because Ren promises he will be dropping a lot of new tracks starting next week. He is also in a collab with rapper Webby on Thursday. Love this Ren poetry, on a gloomy day. The strings are just lovely as the accompaniment. I think this makes him fairly unique in the current music world.
Ren is a modern poet with a Midas touch. Nothing out there is like him. Sam and NF come close. Then you have Chinchilla, who is in her own category. I wonder if any of these ladies are the same as in Money Game 3. There's another version where he's walking around the city that's really good.
Yea! Runaway!!! As Ren said we drink it down your cat put his little nose in your drink, as to drink it down. CUTE!!! Your edit comment about the quartet being a tiny symphony made me think that right there is a bittersweet symphony bitter cause it's small, sweet because it is still beautiful.
Great catch on the feel of this song being similar to Red Hot Chili Peppers- Under the Bridge. It’s Britains version of that song 100% . Not in musical tone obviously but the emotional feel it gives.
Hi Ken, I enjoy your reactions and your genuine appreciation of the music this young man creates. May I suggest you have a look at a 12 recording jamming session as Ren collaborates with a girl called Liv Sangster(especially "I'm in love") he met busking on Brighton beach front! The chemistry between them as they inspire each other! Also a Trick The Fox track called "Runaway".
I really enjoy listening to professional reactions from different areas of the music industry like this. It gives me a whole new appreciation to the song. Great reaction, even with the naughty, attention seeking cat and weird neighbour. (Love Ash Purrington really)😂😂
There are only 3 covers on here worth listening to , Disturbed / Sound of Silence LIVE , Johnny Cash / Hurt and Joe Cocker With a Little Help From my Friends 1969 woodstock
❤ Sorry last comment I swear. Ren composed a piano piece to express his feelings about another friend who died shortly after jis best friend and he has never been able to really have words or process it. Its called Mackay. Definitely a you piece I think.
He makes an appearance in the Chalk Outlines reaction right around 3:30 mark. I, BTW, forgot to include his middle initial so that his full name is Ashford T. Purrington III Esquire D.D.S.. The T stands for a famous starship captain's middle name. Wonder if you know it?
I just thought of all the things to add to his name, a Doctor of Dental Surgery was quirky and stupid.....so I went with it. My sister hates it. She thinks it's unnecessary. Well, Duh.
❤ Funny you mentioned Red Hot Chili Peppers John Fruciante is one of Rens biggest influences. P.S. Ilove learning things from your prespectives about Rens music. But I realky stay bc I like you and all your different kinds of humor. And I love your cats full name. Im not about to type all that out. So when you go to the vet whats his name under and do you say his full name to register him? Also he must wear a pretty big ID tag😊
It is his name on his chart at the vet. I don't say his full name to register him. He only wears the big 24 carat gold name tag when he goes to the club or picking up kitties at the park.
You won't get the minor details and multilevels in his words as you aren't British. For example The Sun and the Daily Mirror are national newspapers, the former used to have topless girls on page three, hence ".... the sun mirrors that. Bare with me."
I honestly find it very funny when someone truely thinks about himself that he lives in Richard Ashcroft´s mind which is already lunacy at its finest, but is even sharing that so that now everyone knows.
