The Renault Koleos sits above the Renault Kadjar in the brand’s SUV model range and shares a lot of its components with the Nissan X-Trail. It certainly isn’t short of rivals either, with models like the Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento and Skoda Kodiaq all offering a similar package. Just two diesel engines are on offer, but they’re well suited to UK customers, with economy of more than 50mpg and the option of front or four-wheel drive. The amount of standard equipment is impressive, too.

Finally a manufacturer that understands that some people want comfort and body roll is okay. Not everything has to come in a sports trim with lowered and stiffened suspension.

He didn't mention outstanding and loud BOSE sound system with big bass-boxes in the back. The best buy is 200 hp one (Renault created finally 200 horse powers 2.0 engines, latest versions), has seats heating / warming, full quality maps, iPhone and Android car usb connection, option to add default multimedia tablets / tvs at the back sits, has several driving modes with ambient lights even on all 4 doors that I liked a lot (Sport - as red color mode, the most responsive; Blue mode - comfort with sits massage; Green (Eco) mode and Sexy (pink) mode + Neutral (User Programmed). I really enjoyed testing it and I will definitely buy it in forthcoming months when V2.0 (or new version) appears. What I miss now is: 1) Joystick control (to avoid constant touching screen), as seen in Talisman; 2) 200 or more Horse Powers as default from now on (with fantastic working automatic gear); 3) I think it would need just a bit better plastic quality in cup holders behind the transmission; 4) Electronic positioning of steering wheel (not manual as it is now) so it can memorize their positions along with all other setups for each driver (currently there are 6 memory positions); 5) HUD appearing (as in Talisman) - cool and very nice feature; 6) Wider Tyres (best looking are the same size in Talisman and Koleos: 245/40/19 - while in Talisman looks all well, in Koleos looks a bit narrow. I like aggressive and big wheels as in any Bmw's X6 (255/50/19) to look more "sporty" and add 7) real exhauster, not fake one. Currently I am into Talisman Initiale Paris 200hp and I am more than happy with it. At least I love alternatives, as every second driver has a BMW, Audi or Mercedes. People wants good, quality alternatives :)

Renaults are one of the most reliable cars Provided its well service in regular intervals . 100.000 miles or 4 years warranty gives me peace of mind

I'd buy this over the X Trail. Aesthetically this looks better for me and with the mechanics coming from the Japanese it's the best of both worlds.

@@johnholst A superb mix I'd say! French comfort and design, Japanese mechanical reliability and Korean quality built. I own the 1st generation Koleos(the top spec one) and I'm so damn happy about it! It's reliable, very comfortable and cost a penny to maintain! I had a German car just before that! Awesome looks, very comfortable but damn...my bank account got PTSD thanks to it!

Using a filter wasn't a good idea and you should try n change your smurfs outfit been using for long now. As for the car the engines aren't as good as the competition but it looks decent in that trim.

I wish they would get someone with less arrogance. He talks about the other multimedia screen being naff. I have seen both versions and it's just smaller but CarPlay and Andriod auto look more normal without a big empty space around it. Please bring back a presenter we can relate to!

My brand new gt-line koleos is coming in 2 weeks replacing my top of the range x-trail tekna. The gt-line which is top of the range but they only do 2 levels ( iconic - bottom of the range, gt-line top of the range ). It has everything you need 😊

Had to laugh when he said "the drivers seat is in my driving position". His seating position is closer to the wheel than that of a borrower. His seating position would make the rear seats in a Toyota IQ look usable.

@@tayfunkorkut1757 Actually, I'm not sure about that Talisman, which we call Samsung SM6 here in Korea. But at that same Busan factory, they make a great many Nissan Rouge Sport (Quashqai).

Why would pushing the touch screen right in the corner drive me made the button i need to press it below it and the clue is in the name it touch screen you lighlty touch it and it works you dont need to press as hard as you can. Most cars even luxury cars will have bits that will make similar sounds if your pressing as hard as you can. I have been in lexus, audis and mercs that do that

For me it is very hard to judge the looks of the car in this video with the extremely annoying yellow hue. Please be a bit more cautious with the button next time. ;) (although I get that it's partly to mask the bad lighting conditions)

Well they looks better and fake are because engine do not need them, they are just for better look / design. It happens in most of all latest cars from Audi, Vw, Mercedes, Bmw. Some cars just do not need real exhausts.

livc444111 Anyone who is interested to know how well a car is screwed together and the quality of the plastics. It's one of the first things I do when I look at a new car. Keep up the great reviews James!

Mr H Seriously?!? You think you can tell how well a car is screwed together underneath by prodding the dashboard?.....Wow! The Japanese manufacturers like Honda make some of the most reliable cars yet have creaky plastics inside the cabin, does that mean you are not interested? Do you prefer Audis because they have soft textured plastics.....which are made in France by a French company? The Pug 3008 has beautiful well screwed together plastics, does that mean Peugeot now make great reliable cars? Yep your reply to my comment was stupid
