John, another superb episode, thanks! Your meticulous observations and detailed explanations are gratefully appreciated. I would not have recognized such characteristics, or appreciated the uniqueness of the craftsmanship that integrates the JR product into the shoe production.
You should never wear daily. You perspire about a cup per foot each day and wearing them daily will significantly accelerate wear because they never fully dry. So daily I’d say 10-16 months and wearing every other day 3-4 years. Hope you’ll see you’re better off getting two pairs.
May I ask, from a comfort on your feet all day point of view( interior lining, last and water resistance excluded)...which do you prefer : these double leather soles or rubber?
I live in England. According to what you said in your video is like you said the Baker sole is better than the JR sole, the JR sole is not better than the Baker sole. In your own opinion which sole is better? And finally, you made mention of JR tannery not shutting down completely.
I think the Baker is softer to walk on and wears about the same so I like it better. I’m honestly not sure if J&FJ Baker want their soles to be a replacement though, it’s much more common in bespoke shoes and according to Tony Gaziano a little harder to work with when making the shoes. That said it’s superb. I like JR soles better than other soles for the same reason, it’s softer to walk on and wears slowly. The other sol tanneries out there have a high bar to meet. I haven’t worn my Saint Crispins, Acmes, Paolo Scafora, and Meccariello’s I enough to know if their soles are as good, but they feel as good.
@@wishoeguy I believe the JR sole will still be around for a while after they shut down their tannery. But notwithstanding I am taking my shoe that needs sole replacement to my cobbler for JR sole.
