Awesome build series. Would love to hear more about what led you to the choice on intake port. How would a build like this do if you used your bridgeport like you have scribed on the iron.
Generally I think street ports are the most drivable and easiest to maintain. And in this configuration with the hybrid exhaust it will sound unique. When you go to a Bridgeport or a semi peripheral port you get that great brap sound but it also removes a lot of low and power making the motor a very peak oriented horsepower motor I like strong mid range. This is just a starting point maybe we can bridge portrait later and see how it does.
Hey kyle nice videos always useful info i see you polished race bearings can you tell me how did you polish them and if I can polish oem rotor and main bearings and what benefits it has🙂
It will have more brap than a stock rx8. But not like a bridge. Only Bridgeports and portfolio reports get that really hard wrap is brap the people liked to hear. However I think the street port hybrid configuration has its own unique tone.
You mentioned in a previous video that hybrid motors would require a standalone ecu. Would the stock ecu not work for naturally aspirated applications?
I want to do this when I buy another rx8. I looked into it before but never had the funds nor knowledge. Thank you so much for all these videos. Also, what transmission do you run on these?
Kyle do you run the front and rear 6th port actuators? I'm building one of these and in the porting stage, I was thinking maybe disconnect them from the intake and pin them wide open in the ports so they have have better flow. I just feel like if I removed them completely and not use them there will be alot of turbulence because of that pocket at the bottom of the port.
Is there an aftermarket rx8 apex seal that can handle the peripheral exhaust or do the the rotors have to be cut to except a bigger rx7 seal? I know the beam strength suffers in rx8 seal overtime due to the design but would a aftermarket seal remedy this problem just looking at cheaper options when I build my hybrid?
