I just got the same inverter, upgraded from a 15yo Xantrex 1000 watt mod sine wave inverter that worked well over the years. So far im happy with the Renogy. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.
I just purchased the same Renogy 1000W Inverter. I'm also quite impressed with my Renogy 3000W Inverter. The UPS functionality is great. As soon as the sun goes down I flick the mains switch to power my home office (2 x monitors, laptop, keyboard, mouse and 4G Internet). As you noted, the stand-by power consumption on the 3000 watt is noticeable. Next morning I turn the mains power off and go solar (weather permitting), and I'm back in business. I'm hoping the lower stand-by power usage of the 1000W will allow me to use this system at home or off-grid in my caravan (2 x 12V 135A lithium batteries with a cont. charge/discharge @ 100A). Appreciate the video, and comment from Frank N Mel Wolf , I'll now know any unusual noise under load is typical.
Thanks for taking the time to review and sharing the customer support feedback . I was just about to order one along with lithium batteries. While the products appear to be very good its disappointing the the customer service is poor. Hopefully it improves and I'll reconsider. Cheers
Thanks for that video, I was concerned why the red warning light stayed on but I could see from your video that it's supposed to stay on and gets brighter for a couple of seconds when switched on.
Thanks for the upload Dino. Always appreciated mate. I watched this early this morning on the TV so couldn’t comment. Another “to think about item” you have presented me with mate hahaha.
interesting to see how it works over time and if the noise gets better or louder . They make a battery monitor I have been wanting to test but i have waited to see if they incorporate the bluetooth monitoring into the unit, otherwise you also need to buy the BT-2 BLUETOOTH MODULE as well. Still works out cheaper then the Victron BMV-712
@@EFFICIENTSELF Yes you need it all bluetooth. That way you can hide it all away and program and keep an eye on it via the app. Interested to see what there app is like when you get it all working as well mate.
That’s awesome .does yours make the same noise as mine by any chance? Few have commented it’s normal but my 3000w renogy inverter doesn’t make any noise like this when under heavy load.
Thanks for the good video. Just wondering if you'd be able to let me know what direction the renogy inverter fans go... do they draw air in the end that they're on, or do they blow air out of the end that they're on? This info would be helpful for me for installation. Thanks!
My 1000W Renogy Inverter failed. The support from Renogy is nothing short of disgraceful. They cancelled my ticket after a month without a word, and answer every email with a few more questions. This has been going on for months. I have removed and replaced all the Renogy products I own with another manufacturer due to Renogy's abysmal customer service. Never again...
I’m sorry for your bad experience as I’m totally hearing you as dealing with the almost non existent customer service is a nightmare. I was starting to get a lot of their products till I had the bad experience. Was going to get 4 of their lithium batteries but I’m so relieved that I didn’t. Thanks for watching mate 👍🍻
@@EFFICIENTSELF No worries. No offence intended to you or your channel intended. My fingers are crossed you get many more yours out of your kit. Thanks for the videos.
No offence taken mate at all as renogy will need to improve their customer support as your first comment mate was all absolutely correct 👍 thanks again mate 👍🍻
How's the 1000w inverter been holding up after 6 months mate? I got the 2000w one a couple of months ago and loving it. Kind of wish I got the 3000w though so I can run more things!
It’s still going well. It still makes the screeching sound when I put it under full load. But I have it running my household refrigerator during the day. My 3000watt one I just found it will not even start my portable air conditioner up. It’s only 12000btu and 1050 watt input power so you would think it would run it with no problems but it will run a 2400watt kettle and a large household fridge approx 300watt both at the same time no worries at all 🤷♂️
@@1987FX16 Still has the bearing noise in it but still working well I have this installed in a little Mitsubishi express off grid van . Thanks for watching 👍🍻
Just a plain battery box . I put the gauge in it which is this one here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2td6TcZDziU.html thanks for watching 👍🍻
Hi 👋 it’s a battery box and I just purchased this item here. www.ebay.com.au/itm/125603576663?itmmeta=01HY1F4CTE2YGN51TPZN1C45QR&hash=item1d3e8e7b57:g:D3gAAOSw-WpjayyA&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8LOR%2FMFmTrWiEF%2Bgt9jfdfcvWzbBxj%2B6xkv0aqWUvCPt%2BInb%2BQJyZ4y1PP8do180ADAmVjSVutSVy5Bcd%2Fc2%2B0gqlgfnjU0cs9uAoPnZ2N8IDLqb4JFtXmmSxmDVvVP8ze42sg31vp4gRMwjRdyfE8ZI%2BpNYTO2Enru1950lMwlvZXeL7VSwKglZQtJOyKA9WdQJQfnBfF8qziHdI%2B93hXxtdVZqKAfsYA8GJTyFB4a1dnr3mzMAuSv2TgbpQdOI4yXv%2FB1mhUJKoGfSGWcvhVdUo8ogVmz42yTD578WiPv2rPT91WG2JaGVWe412c2qng%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR7TNka_wYw and fitted this in the box . I have a video somewhere on it if I can find it I will put in another comment. Thanks for watching 👍🍻
I need something you can plug an APC UPS into... So If the power goes out. I have time to shut stuff off. As I want AC power. Then use a transfer switch to DC charging off alternator..
It would be tolerable but my 3000watt inverter does not make this sound at all under heavy load. And just from the terrible customer service experience I had from renogy just recently on another small item that I had recently purchased, I will be avoiding renogy. Thanks for watching 👍🍻
@@EFFICIENTSELF great feedback. Thanks. My load in the off grid shed is 100 to 200 watts. Should not approach 1000w like your test. Perhaps that will keep the sound down. Sorry to hear about customer service.
Not sure . Think i got it from supercheap auto .. was long time ago .. i added the battery monitor and all the extra bits on the battery box .. im going to do a battery box build later on in the future. Thanks for watching 👍🍻
I used a 100 amp midi fuse close to the battery on a 4awg cable . The fuse is used to protect the cable in case of a short or overheating and is good insurance . Hope this helps and thanks for watching 👍🍻
@@EFFICIENTSELF Oh, thanks so much for helping to check. Can you also help check, Does it also draw 12w from the battery when it is in UPS mode or it draws lower than that. I.e, when there is AC power and the inverter is not actively inverting?
@@EFFICIENTSELF Thank you for taking your time to respond but It has to actually be drawing some amount of power even when in UPS mode. It has to continually draw a small amount of current from the battery to be able to be immediately ready to star inverting as soon as grid power goes off. You could confirm this if you have the time please. But all thesame thanks so much for responding.
Hi I’m just wondering if I could plug that in to my battery box with Anderson plug would that work? I would really appreciate if you could help me out thank you regards Mick
This inverter would use approx 85 amps in current if you ran it at full load of the 1000 watts … an Anderson connector is only rated at 50 amps .. you could plug into Anderson plug only if you had a 50amp breaker and minimum 8bs gauge cable (short length) 6bs would be better connected to the inverter from battery and long as you ran no more than 600watt in appliances on the inverter which would be approximately 46amps drawing from battery to give you some idea. If you don’t need 600 watt go a smaller inverter (say 600watt) hope this helps 👍🍻
Thanks so much forgetting back to me so quickly I’ll just probably have to connector straight onto the battery that’s no problem just one more question if you don’t mind please that little cattle that you got coffee one where did you purchase from?thank you regards
@@EFFICIENTSELF Was planning to install one in the trunk of mu civic. But it seems that at 10 watts drain while off, that would kill my battery. There a kill switch you can recommend?
@@EFFICIENTSELF Would like to charge: ebike battery - 96 watts laptop - 80 watts, small kettle - 800 watts, Not all at once, but be nice to know what I could get away with in my car. Without wrecking the battery and altering how it runs. Not sure how much power the car draws itself while running.
Best thing to do is to get a battery box , a lithium battery capable of discharging 100 amps continuous, a dc-dc charger and a 1000 watt inverter and setup in rear of your vehicle.... I’m currently making a video on this right now and probably ready for view in about 4 weeks. Hope this helps cheers 👍🍻
You will get away with a 150 watt inverter which can plug into your cig lighter in car and while you driving you can charge the bike and pc but 1 at a time of course... your kettle is the big power user
Yes still going good 👍 still has the bearing sound at high load. Think its from the fan of the inverter which still squeals but it still works well other than that…👍🍻
mine wont work! ive tried it on the car battery with the car running and it doesnt turn on! the safety switch is in. hasnt been triggered. it just wont turn on! help!
@@EFFICIENTSELF Thanks, I figured it might be too. Just wasn't sure if maybe it needed a large 240v load connected to it or something silly to start it. But It should just start according to videos I've watched. I just messaged Renogy also. I will see what they say. I Really needed it for camping next week.. bummer.
Just installed my renogy 1000w inverter, is it OK to plug inverter the mains power using the power cord provided, whilst it is connected to your leisure batteries 🤔
Yes that part is the ups (uninterrupted power supply) function of the inverter : so whatever is plugged into inverter ( example household fridge) will be running from 240 volt power and when the 240 volt is lost from outlet going to inverter , instantly inverter will run whatever is plugged to inverter from leisure battery . If you want to run from your leisure battery, don’t connect the 240 cord provided to outlet . Hope this helps and thanks for watching 👍🍻
