Yes, indeed, very sad period in the history of France and Dan is very courageous in restoring the old lady back to her former state. Wonderful restoration really.

I have another gentleman, my French teacher in the 1970’s, that was placed in a Catholic school to hide him. After the war he actually walk hundreds of miles back to his home. He lost much of his family including his father. They were Jewish. I think it was 20/20 ( an American tv show) that told his story. ❤ He has some stories on RU-vid - Paul Schwarzbart. An amazing man! Thank you for these amazing stories ! And your hard work!

I really like this upper level wall roof preparation activity. Totally the right programming to execute at the moment.

@@TomTomicMic I would put in temporary scaffold crash deck and put in the top floor and roof first on that wing and the back wing, rather than wasting a lot of time on the intermediate floors.

@@PreservationEnthusiast Dan is really a "prize." Like everyone, I am pulling for him in his project, but I wonder if he is qualified to "save" those supporting walls? That is the big question. Safety-wise, can those crumbling walls even BE saved (as he is doing)? To rebuild a castle ruin of this immense size, it seems to me that one must have sufficient quantities of 1) manpower, 2) money to do the job correctly, and above all, 3) the engineering knowledge to assure it's structural integrity. I know that Dan possesses the heart and energy for the job but does he have those three ingredients? In other words, is he over his head? I scratch my head when I see him just smearing some mortar in a void in the wall brickwork and "call it good." It looks neat and tidy, but is it really shoring up the wall?

And he has remained humble, too 👍
