In todays video we are setting up the Reolink Home Assistant integration. I have been using the E1 Zoom indoor PTZ camera for a few months now and it's great. This video will show you how to add your Reolink cameras (Providing they aren't in the unsupported list). You will then be able to view the live streams and control the camera.

I tried the integration again after watching the video. Seems good. If you want the sub stream rather than main, you can set that in the configure section within the integration. I had to leave a " / " in the thumbnail section to let it save the config (blank as default isn't accepted). Now I can have 8 cams on the screen and they load quickly. I am not sure if you can add the same cams for their HD main stream, I guess so and so I could have 16 cams (but only really 8) added so I have the sub and main together. Will have a play around and see. Then have the live stream of the picture glance = sub, press it to go to main stream... just thinking as I type! The motion sensors seem a bit flakey, sometimes always on, other times always off.

You cannot add the same camera twice, so other option is to setup the cam in config/yaml as a generic camera using the right url. then use that as the high quality stream.

Hey Mark, I havent watched the video yet as catching up with al your older stuff but a lot of people including myself are using "Blueiris" as their CCTV. Not sure if you have used this but it would be great to see this intergreated with HA.

Thanks for the video. But what about ptz button. I have a trouble with that , sorry for my English ;-) but when I use move right entity the camera goes to the far right or left and so on...

Mark thank you, thank you for all your videos. I have finally made it around to my REO link cameras (RLC-529). I have the integration all set up in my home assistant, however, it is not finding my camera when I put in the IP Address, username, and password. I receive an error message "Failed to connect with the camera". The camera is on the network and running perfectly in the reolink app......any ideas??? Thank you in advance!

Hi Mark...Great video...thank you...Most of my cameras are Reolink, and I used the same integration (from Hacs) that you show...I have noticed that the HACS is continually updating every several weeks... could you maybe go thru some automation with motion, etc...???and is there somewhere that can trigger "record" (to a NAS) when motion detected??? I am also working on having the cameras go "idle" when we are home, but go to "ready" (with notifications) when we leave the house with the presence detection...this is still a work in process...:( Any help sure would be appreciated...thanks again.

Hey Jame. Yeah more recently it has gotten a few updates (Which is good :D). I do plan on covering automations with motion, PTZ and recording stuff, and also a privacy mode. I don't have an ETA when this will be. But it's storyboarded and just needs to be recorded. Keep your eyes peeled :) Check out my Facebook group as I will be holding a poll there on some of the videos I have planned for people to vote on.

Hi, great and informative video. Just wondering if y want to add more than 1 reolink camera, how is that done? I have added 1 camera ok but when I click on the integration I cants get to the card that allows you to input the lP and login details of the 2nd camera. Thanks in advance

Choose the add integration button again, select Reolink and it will prompt you for the second cameras details :)

Hello Mark, Very interesting video, but already 1 year old, and the new Reolink HA integration being improved a lot, I was wondering if you still need the HACS integration, I guess not ? And if the Reolink E1 Zoom support person detection instead of only motion detection ? Thank you in advance !

Hey Christof. I would go straight for the new integration that is available without HACS. It’s been getting great support the last few releases and is very reliable :) The E1 Zoom does support person detection but in my experience it isn’t super quick to respond.

Hi, thanks for the video. I have the E1 Zoom as well and made the same integration. Do you know if there is any way to get the PTZ control in HA?

@@mathieugoy2236 you will need to use the reolink desktop app to set positions. You can then say turn to position 1 etc and the camera will move to that predefined spot. Works really well. If not you will have to say left etc and then stop. Or it will just keep moving in that direction.

Hey there, can you "arm" the camera when you leave home, so it can notify you if something happens? Also does the 10 seconds delay apply to that case or only when viewing the stream?

Heya :) With the Reolink integration there's no "Arm Mode". But what you can do instead is toggle on and off the various features that an arm mode would actually do (e.g. turn on recording, motion sensor etc.). The delay is just for the stream. Everything else is pretty instantaneous.

I've added the custom addon into HACS and rebooted. But no luck on it showing up under main integrations :( any ideas? cheers

Try clear your browser cache and it should appear :)

Thanks Mark I find that after a day or more, the live view get delayed by hours , meaning it starts viewing broadcast hours old, have you had such a problem ?

I haven’t had this issue no. Are you using the “preload” feature in HA? I found this has happened on other cameras when I have used that feature. If you go into the Reolink camera and use the reload option do the cameras re sync? Check your logs to see if there is anything causing such a big delay on your streams. Cheers

Hola Mark! AFAIK you can add any onvif camera to HA just adding the RTSP address into de configuration.yaml and this works great to take snapshots and get some notifications. Till now I trigger the automation with a PIR sensor. What you show here for the Reolinks it's somehow exportable to any other onvif camera? ( I mean to use them as well as motion sensor) Thanks in advance! Cheers!!

You can add then directly via rtsp yes. But you cant use the sensors or ptz controls. This integration is specifically for Reolink cameras. Hope that answers your question?

@@ortigonover the Ptz controls for this camera work well. You can also define set positions and then just call a script etc and have the camera move to that spot.

Hello Mark. I bought an E1 Zoom. Please tell me how to activate motion detection😩. I followed your steps from the video. Everything is exactly as you show it but the sensor does not detect any movement. Do I need to add anything extra to config.yaml?Do I need to make any settings through the web interface or through the Reolink mobile application? The sensor works perfectly on the mobile application but does not work in HA....

You shouldn’t have to and they should just work. Have you tried rebooting HA since adding the reolink integration?

@@MarkWattTech I understand. I tried the camera with onvif and motioneye just the sensor does not work. I will just reinstall HA,maybe I messed things up somewhere. I've been learning to work with HA recently.. there is no point in shooting in directions. Thank you for the quick response :))))

@@hristohristov5246 The sensor will only appear and work with the HACS integration. Just make sure you are using the latest version of the integration, HA and Camera firmware.

Hey Mark, love the videos. I've run into an issue though. I get all the way to installing the integration but it doesn't seem to pick up my specific camera. It successfully adds the integration but no entities or services, even though it was named the same name as my camera is called within Reolink. Any ideas?

@@MarkWattTech No, Mark, still having issues. I tried uninstalling everything and doing it again, plus upgrading firmware on the camera and still no luck. The integration adds ok, it just has no devices or entities yet it names itself the same name I have for the one and only camera I have.

I have a Reolink E1 Zoom and a Google Nest Hub display. I created an automation that shows the camera feed on the display when motion is detected, but the video shows with a delay of 28~30 seconds. I tried with both the ONVIF and the Reolink-Dev integrations, both have the same delay. Such a long delay makes this completely useless. If I use MJPEG, the image shows up in 1 second. But it shows just a single screenshot, it isn't updated. I've been on this for a full week now, tried everything (also ffmpeg and WebRTC), nothing works. Becomming desperate here.... 😢 How can I get a live video feed from the Reolink on the Google Nest Hub display with an acceptable delay (max. 3 or 4 seconds). Even an MJPEG that would update maybe once a second would be OK. I prefer not to go the BlueIris/MotionEye/iSpy/NVR route though. I'd like to do this inside HA natively.

What's your automation doing? Are you casting the camera feed directly?

@@MarkWattTech I have it working now, after weeks of experimenting. But I was not able to get it working inside Home Assistant alone. Ultimately I had to resort to Agent DVR and get the video feed from there. Now it responds very fast and the delay is only about 1 second. Perfect for what I wanted. But I had to create another Windows VM just for running Agent DVR. Ah well... I'm happy it works now :)
