My mail carrier who has worked for the Post Office for 30 years has told me that DeJoy owns lots of UPS stock so I'm pretty sure his goal is to destroy the Post Office not help it.
Well that can only make things worse. Ups is horrible about delivering on time. They usually pass off packages after they are late a couple days to the USPS...per their tracking...once in USPS hands it's delivered the next day....go figure. DeJoy needs to go. He is TRUMPS flunky....acts like a mafia hitman.
@@lexyswope I wasn’t familiar with her so I looked her up real quick. Looks like a winner! I love her positions on anti violence, gun control and education. Isn’t it great to have a representative that actually works for the people she represents? I like this trend on strong females in Congress. Mothers. They know how to fight (omg! Metaphorically! You have to be careful. The lunatics are listening) for their own.
@@kittiwhieldon4329 Her son was murdered for playing music too loudly. That turned her active. Her opponents say that that's her only issue, but she understands the complexities of what people face and fights for people. Until 2017 this district was 65% Red. Newt Gingrich, Tom Price. In a special election in '17 Jon Ossoff lost by 1% to Karen Handel. In '18 McBath won by 1%. In '20 it was a 10% margin. During the 1st impeachment I was dozing and woke to a woman questioning the witnesses and thought, "She's sharp!" It was Lucy.😷😁😷 It's hard to beat Katie, though. Love them both. Ossoff's communication ability helped a lot to change the district so there are a lot of great guys too. So now we have two great Senators, too.
@@lexyswope Wow! That is actually wonderful news for once. I read up on Ms. McBath and I cannot find anything about her that I don’t love! It breaks my heart that she lost her son in such a pointless and ignorant way. As terrible as that was instead of wallowing in self pity she determined be a part of the solution so other parents wouldn’t have to suffer the loss of a precious child. And that certainly is not all that she has taken on! Healthcare, education, veterans, LGBTQ equality! And more! She’s a force of nature! I’ll be honest with you. I’ve been interested in politics my whole life. My dad and I used to have great discussions about whatever was going on politically. My younger son caught the bug too and graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCI with a degree in Political Science. The speaker at his graduation was President Obama! Anyway. I used to be a republican. Until 2010. The tea party and all their insanity changed my mind and I became an independent. When trump was elected I was devastated. Quite frankly I wasn’t a big fan of Ms. Clinton but she was certainly better that the dumpy little reality “star”. I voted for the libertarian. I just could not vote for that misogynist trump and I wasn’t quite ready to vote democrat. I was so distraught about the travesty of that xenophobic bigot in the White House that I boycotted the news and politics until shortly before the election in November 2020. So I was unaware of anything political until I could see a light in the tunnel. I proudly voted for Joe Biden. It was a vote against trump. But it was also a vote for President Biden. I refuse to blindly vote without knowing who or what I am voting for. I looked into Mr. Biden and became convinced that he would not only be a vote against trump, he would be the leader that we need in these difficult times. I’m impressed with him so far. The two party system has failed us. Neither side is perfect but compared to this criminal group of seditious liars that call themselves republicans the democrats look like saints. Anyway, I’m trying to catch up on everything political that I missed during my trump boycott. It looks like some good people came to office in spite of him and his minions. I doubt I’ll ever vote for a Republican again. There is no place in this world for their fascist policies, hatred and lies. Thanks for filling me in on Lucy McBath. I’ll keep an eye on her. She is doing good things for all of us!
@@rogersmith7808 agreed! Though she’s so effective in her committee assignments that it would be a huge blow to the House if she left. We need more like her!
@@Lynda957 Well apparently they pulled her off one of her committees but I can't imagine why. But she would have a lot more power in the White House as a cabinet member or VP for now.
Getting tired of paying late fees on bills that are sent on time because the postal service is so slow and under staffed...he needs to go..he did his job trying to slow up the election ballots ...now get rid of him and fix things..,
Still awaiting three gifts/cards sent out to my nieces and nephews in December. I’ve also had four cards/letters returned with “invalid address” stamped on the envelope despite the facts that the letters mailed were addressed to people who’ve resided at the addresses on the envelopes for years and I’ve mailed things to them, successfully, for years. USPS is a literal dumpster fire and DeJoy expects the taxpayers to keep paying for the opportunity to watch it continue to burn.
@@timb7775 I agree. Instant payment online is better. Doesn’t matter, though. OP/anyone should be free to pay their bills however they want safe in the knowledge that it will get to where it needs to go on time. Now let’s talk about prescription drugs! I know a guy who’s a disabled war vet who has gotten his meds delivered to his house for several years and it’s taken an inexcusable amount of time to get them to him.

De Joy is an arrogant, self serving person who needs to be removed for being incompetent in a position he knows nothing about! Post stamp him to another planet pronto!!!
Imagine being so profoundly stupid that you mouth-off to Congress in a public hearing. He thinks he is Al Capone. He needs to go, in a sooner-than-later way.

He seems like a particularly nasty piece of work, which is saying a lot for a Trump appointee. And I think Rep. Porter suspects that some of that consulting money went to DeJoy's company
Yes, she is clearly a professional. Professional clown, that is. How many analyses has she ever done? Has she ever run a private sector business? Or is she simply your typical noisy partisan socialist being hysterical..?
His smug attitude hasn't changed from his initial visit last summer. Funny how he gets irritated when called a political appointee. He is clueless & finding out that his prior business experience not sufficient in running such a large agency
Katie Porter is very intelligent and is trying to find out if Louis De Joy’s actions have improved the overall function of the postal’s service. Everyone must realize the importance of having a public not private postal service because it serves people even in the most remote address. All citizens should have access to these services.
One thing about having a conversation with Katie.... She comes prepared and have her shit in order..... I suggest the next person she have to talk with..... Come together and prepared because she don't play
But some how they are never prepared.. I'd walk in with a peice of hard candy in my pocket just incase she ask..her questions we not suprising? When I do a report the names of managers who participated are listed, why is it any different..unless your lying... wink wink
He says the postal service is billions in debt and then he says he is using ideas from existing in house "consultants" to make a new plan to improve the postal service and pay down debt? When you have a track record of losing big money, it seems like you wouldn't take the advice of in house consultants who have already established a bad track record of putting the USPS in debt!!!!
@@jeremydedrick4054 obviously you have never had a single job where making money is the objective...lmao. gotta love it when gas station cashiers chime in with their uneducated 2 cents
hes 100% lying... he first said he used consultants and then described a consultant as an outside entity and then when asked to provide those businesses he said he had about 150 in house usps employees to come up with the plan... he told a lie and anyone with half a brain could hear it. De Joy is the kind fo guy everyone hates besides other rich guys and uneducated trumpazees cuz trump told em to. the sad thing is that we have right wing gas station workers who think de joy is doing a good job. its depressing af knowing so many americans are so incredibily uneducated and misinformed.
He stares into space while speaking with restraint. He’s processing and formulating. That is not what you expect of someone answering to a committee. He’s still in salesman mode.
Like this egghead knows anything about struggling to pay bills...or even the postal service itself. He's a major Trump donor who got the job simply because of his hard on for The Donald
Actually if one goes back in postal history and the funding expectations put upon the postal service then one could understand that Dejoy was being realistic, forthcoming and brutally honest with that answer. The postal service has been everybodys whipping boy for decades and now people like Porter want to look like the knight on a white horse coming to the rescue of the public. Frankly, Porters stance is self serving politics and she would be better off baking cookies.
@@timb7775 yes she comes off rude, but she's given only a few minutes and most people congress interviews love to waste the time of all hearings. 10 words when 2 would do, not quite answering a question, tons of filler...

Trump appointed a bunch of his shills to the USPS board of governors, then had them appoint DeJoy to try to ruin the post office and create distrust in mail-in ballots. That's how. These people have no decency.

The post office is the only federal branch that has to keep enough cash on hand to pay for the retirements of all current employees. Thanks W for burdening them for that. The post office is a service, not a business, stop trying to kill it.
@Randall Johnson the post office shouldn’t go ‘belly up’. That’s like the water company or waste disposal failing. The conditions for the post office to face failure is a set of manufactured constraints imposed to satisfy special interests that would love to see a public delivery service be replaced by private package carriers. Also, I’m pretty sure all federal retirees get their retirement even when the ‘government shuts down’ just that it might be a bit late. Nixon started the ball rolling for the demise of the postal service and it seems many people would love to see it finished.
While correct about not making money, the USPS is supposed to at least break even, that's why postage exists. A large part of why the USPS is in debt is due to private shipping companies.
@@bstybyz3 yep, but it's still a necessity, that should always be available regardless of cost. and I wouldn't even expect it to break even, but 40 billion in debt is absurd, somethings clearly wrong.
I love Katie Porter, but it's congress's fault that the USPS is going under. During the Bush administration congress passed the Postal Accountability Enhancement Act (PAEA). This is single handedly responsible for the current USPS problems. Repeal that legislation and save the post office!
This. Unlike any other entity in the friggin universe, the USPS was forced by congress to PREPAY pensions going forward like 80 years or something ridiculous. With that hamstringing their budget, it's no surprise they're deep beyond red, basically fiscal infrared.
Kinda sad I had to read so far down to get to the truth. It's all politics but so many like to use that pedestal for whatever diatribe they wish to come up with.
What a nasty, angry public servant. What the hell is he doing in that job? He admits he has not improved things ONE IOTA, yet he wants the job for life? What an arrogant prk.
The POTUS doesn't directly hire or fire the Postmaster General, it has to be done by the Board of Governors within the postal service. Currently the 6 members of that board are all Trump appointees. Biden has just recently nominated 3 new members for the Board, but they need to be approved by Congress.
Prior to running for congress, Katie Porter taught law at UC Irvine. She had plenty of practice dealing with hungover frat boys and surfer dudes who tried to bs not doing work. Which all and all was the perfect primer for dealing with CEOs and government appointees.
Katie Porter is a powerhouse. I admire all these women in the recent classes. They are so confident and hardworking for their constituents. The people they represent should be thankful, most of us don't have such good luck.
I love Katie Porter, she is tenacious and on point...she is an attribute to any financial committee...need her to be put on the budget committee...or kept on it...
It goes without saying if all elected leaders in the House of Representatives follow the Q/A format of Congresswoman Porter, there would be more accountability of government AND private individuals who are brought forth to these committees. She has set a standard, and the bar is higher than it is has ever been. Thank you, Congresswoman Porter for giving your constituents their money’s worth.👍
Its laughable Congress talking about spending money and the last time they got involved in the po was the last year they had a profit I have a idea take the postal service out of the control of the government and they will do much better I work for the po it's a joke if we had another vehicle my po could save 80 grand a year
The post office wouldn't work as a truly private entity because it's required to do things private businesses would never do because it's not profitable. To make it profitable would make it more expensive and cause it to worsen service.
That’s a stupid idea. With your logic we should privatize the military since they don’t make a profit either. The post office is a public good and equalizes communication between all persons in this country.
I work for the post office they have so many people holding them down it's a joke we rented a van for 8 months at which we could of bought one but it wasnt approved
