300 now. I would consider it if it had knurling without a break. Stainless is great.

Really? Hadn’t noticed. I haven’t had any issues with the break in knurling and the knurling present seems to be in the right spots

I think he means the space between the 2 knurling patches

Like the Rogue bar. Can't imagine the designer at Rep thinking less knurling was a better idea. From all the reviews I've seen it's by far the most common complaint. I do like the design better than Rogue's as it appears the curves aren't as deep. The Rogue looks more like a hammer curl. I don't need a lot of angle, just enough to take the stress off my elbows.

Very nice, definitely something I will consider. I’ve had my Rep stainless steel deep knurl bar for 3 years out in my garage and it still looks great with minimal maintenance.

Great review, Markus! I use mine for heavy close-grip bench presses (I prefer the outer knurl for hand spacing) and it has been a necessity for increasing strength in all of my pressing movements.

Great review! I bought this bar as soon as it came out a couple of years ago. I sold my Rogue regular curl bar and have zero regrets. It is an absolutely beautiful bar and is so convenient to load the plates on the j-cups or have it resting safely on the safety straps when starting skullcrushers. I agree, it is a stunning bar in person and the Rep stainless steel color hits different than other brands. It has a warmth to the color. I have had it in my garage gym the entire time, which I keep at 40% humidity year-round using my dehumidifier. No issues at all. If you haven't already reviewed it, you should also check out the Deep Knurl Stainless Steel Power Bar EX. Absolutely love it. It's my daily driver for squats and deadlifts, sometimes bench if my hands are super sweaty. It has amazingly grippy knurl, but it is not as sharp and rough as an Ohio Power Bar. It takes a couple of days for your hands to get used to the knurl and you will see the print on your palms, but then it's perfect.
@twistedbarbell3950
@twistedbarbell3950 Год назад
Right on Philip, it is a beauty and you’re description re: warmth is accurate too! I don’t have the EX power bar, but tested it at the Rep showroom and it felt great! Would def be in my gym if I didn’t already own the Kabuki Next gen PB!

Beautiful bar and looks like the angles are perfect as well. I wish I could have gotten it. They didn’t have it in stock during the pandemic (as was the case for most equipment) but I was able to luckily scoop up the Rogue Cerakote curl bar, (non-rackable though) and the Titan Fat rackable EZ curl bar, so now this REP stainless steel beauty must remain on a future wish list. Not that you probably feel the need for another curl bar, but the rack-able Titan Fat EZ curl bar is a beast, all hard chrome and offers additional grip and forearm emphasis.

The first thing I thought when I saw you uploaded this video was wait… Marcus told us all last year we didn’t need a rackable curl bar. Anyway, I have this bar too and it’s great. It’s also my only stainless steel bar. I heard REP’s stainless steel isn’t as “good” as American stainless steel. It’s held up well for me but I’m also in California where there’s no humidity. I’ve seen some bad rust on videos of REP stainless bars, including this one in Garage Gym Reviews’ review.
@twistedbarbell3950
@twistedbarbell3950 Год назад
I can be humble and admit when there is a valid reason for certain equipment 😂 honestly, I do like to do my best to see both sides of a point of view. Good to know it’s holding up well and surprised to hear some samples may have rusted - must be some horrendous conditions for that to happen, or perhaps there was a problem with manufacturing at that time. Some others have chimes in and all say it’s held up well. I’ll report back if that ever changes for me. Thanks for watching Jameston!

I opted not to pursue this bar after seeing Coop’s review. He too sung its praises but there were clear indications of the bar showing far too much oxidation. For me, it’s Rogue barbells all the way

I just ordered this bar. I have the Rogue e-coat rackable bar and I am noticing wear at the point of my normal hand contact. It is also 28.5 mm and I would prefer a thicker shaft. The Rep bar will look great with my stainless Ohio Bar and Stainless Ohio Power Bar.

Nice score! I have a standard length curl bar and a 24" rack. I just rack it on the side posts when I'm using it. J cups on the side posts fit within the collars of a standard length bar. Or at least my curl bar.

Great review Marcus! I have the stainless normal version of this bar and love it way more than the rogue version I use on occasion at my local gym. At 30mm it's great on the elbows! Almost all my bars are either stainless or raw steel. I only have one zinc coated shaft ohio bar I use for barbell cycling and its worn off and scratched. Coated barbells aren't worth it imo.

Thanks for the thorough review! One way that I would want to use the rackable curl bar is for front squats and potentially back squats. It looks as though it can fit comfortably behind the neck, would you be able to confirm if that would be a good use case?
@twistedbarbell3950
@twistedbarbell3950 Год назад
I tried and the bar is an awkward feeling (for me) sitting on my traps, because of the bend in the bar. I’m used to a straight bar on my traps/shoulders.

Marcus, do you think I could get the same use out of the curl bar attachment for the lat pull-down/low row selectorized? Aside from skull crushers… trying to optimize as I get started on my home gym. Thanks
@twistedbarbell3950
@twistedbarbell3950 Год назад
Hey Dixon, same use as the rackable EZ Curl bar? If so, that depends…at my height of 6’2”, I can’t do standing curls with the LLR, so I’d have to kneel or sit (not quite the same. Skull crushers do work well, actually. With some minor compromise, it could possibly be done. The curl bar also works well for triceps push downs

@@twistedbarbell3950 My home gym is outside but under the patio roof next to my pool, so I'm not too concerned about my barbell, since it is a classic and rare YORK Split Sleve Barbell that my dad bought in PA at the YORK Barbell warehouse in like 1983 - before I was even born. When Covid-19 global pandemic hit us, our gyms closed down (as you know) and the desperate drive to my parents house to search for that barbell and his 315lb milled weight plates, they were very rusty but I cleaned off the rust as good as I could but more importantly I was grateful to have anything to train with, since some of my training partners had nothing at their homes.

@@twistedbarbell3950 Ya, there are many reasons I'm keeping this YORK Barbell: I don't need to use collars because the sleeves are rusty and provides enough resistance against the YORK plates. It's my dads and I think it's cool to just have something classic and old school.

I love my chrome rackable from Rep. I'm in a basement, so chrome should be fine. At least, I hope so. Love your channel. Are you using juggernaut still? I'm now curious about evolveAI. Using Jeff Nippard program right now. Fundamentals of hypertrophy I think is the name. Found him thanks to u.

@twistedbarbell3950 Год назад
Thanks MrPanther and chrome will absolutely be fine in a basement. After Brandon’s video wrap up of JuggernautAI last week, I found out about Evolve and am starting that today. Same interface and AI it seems, with some minor differences at half the rate. Jeff’s programs are great and I had great success with them! Lots of good options out there at this time, which is great for all of us.
@MrPanthers23
@MrPanthers23 Год назад
@@twistedbarbell3950 at some point I'll probably switch to juggernaut or evolveai. But since I haven't lifted weights consistently in decades, and just started being consistent since August, im essentially a beginner again. So maybe I'll run through Nippards fundamentals, then switch to an app. I do wish evolve had more training programs since it's more affordable. Right now it seems like it's only power lifting. I just wanna lift, get stronger, and maintain health.
