Great job in diagnosing the problem, although unable to repair it. Using your techniques I was able to repair my Howard Miller quartz clock, and made a video of it as well. Usually I only repair electric clocks, but was quite pleased with this first time effort. I have a handful of quartz movements that do not work. Always considered them not worth the effort. Now I will take another look at them. Thanks! Also, love the sweep second hand.

I like to see videos where the repairs are honest, like when the guy says "I'm gonna try this, no that didn't work".. Many videos make out a job took 5 minutes, when it actually took 6 hours,

I have a Benchmark quartz clock with almost the identical movement. On my own I had stripped it down and ended up in the same place as you did. However, I never thought of using heat/cold (I have a chill canister) to troubleshoot. I'm going to try that before I give up and just stick a simple replacement clock mechanism in there.
