Repair a WASHOUT After a Completed Over Seed 

Pete I found your channel because I've been working on improving my lawn for the last two years and admired your lawn, but most importantly I admired the work ethic with which you maintained your lawn. I'm very thankful for your lessons on lawn care, but I'm unimaginably more appreciative of the care and thoughtfulness and deference towards God you have managed to include in your videos. Your story really resonates with me, having a similar background of being lost in sin and drugs for many years, and now being clean for years, God speaks to us in all the things we call coincidences around us. All we have to do is see that and accept Him, and the path to a good life of service to Him becomes clear. Thank you for all you do. God bless.

As passionate as I am about lawns, the stories you share about your life and Christ are far more important. I lead a similar life when I was young and dumb, the only difference was the girl I got pregnant said I could walk away and she would never ask me for anything, but there was no chance that she was getting an abortion. I thank God all the time for this because I have the most beautiful daughter and 3 grandkids that would not be here if it wasn't her mom telling me no.. Hey Pete, I just wanted to let you know that you are awesome and I have learned a lot from you of how to do certain things. I have a lot of the same values and beliefs in both turf and my faith as you. I live in Statesville so I am not far away from you. I have been doing landscaping for about 16-17 years running my own business and working for other lawn care companies. I have joked with my wife about applying for a job with you and driving the hour to work everyday just so I can work for somebody that does things about the same as I do. This spring I moved to a new house that was all dirt so I was forced to seed in april so my kids had more than mudd to play in ....I want to say thank u for your videos and your seed is incredible it grew and thrived through the whole summer...I just overseeded 3rd week of August and it started growing I'm 4 days its tje greenest lawn in town ...couldnt of done it without u GOD BLESS!!

Hey Mr.Pete in the name of Jesus this is very inspiring. I am a new believer and completely understand. I was hooked on substance abuse for a few years. When my girlfriend at that time found it she told me to stop your gonna kill yourself. I told her I would and I didn't. After a major operation I was back on the junk abusing it and abusing myself. Often I would get thoughts of my grandparents who have passed away and visions of my brother who passed away looking down at me. Before my mom passed away she said you need to have a relationship with God because it was going to be the most important relationship in your life. Before that moment 2-3 times a week I was using. That moment the holy spirit used my mom to invite me to walk with Christ was the moment I stopped INSTANTLY In the name of Jesus. Never looked at it never wanted it never was around it any more and since I have given my life to Christ he has renewed me I have had experiences with seeing healing and being an inspiration. So I say that to say this we may feel like that broken clay in the potter's hand useless and why don't they just throw it out it's broken but just like God says the potter reworked the clay into something useful can I not do as the potter does with this clay Israel. In the mighty name of Jesus being a vessel to shop what God has done is your life helps me to feel confident to continue to move forward and not be scared but talk about it. The testimony comes with a test you cannot have one with out the other. Thank you for sharing brother. God bless you and your family your company and your life. Ps you said something when I first started to follow you and it stuck with me and you said the reason you take such good care of your yard is because you are preparing it so when our Lord and savior comes back he can see a well tended eden-( or something to that affect) that helped me to continue to work my yard like God told Adam. Pete, something to try is to just plug that area and reseed another area where there are no issues.. . I did this on a hilly area that no matter what I did it would just washout.

I look at how well you and your business is doing, and yes I thought you just grew up and was a perfect human being. Very powerful...🙏🙏🙏 On your repair, I had the same problem so I learned to use the weasel and tamp the soil down where I weaseled the ground and I haven't had another runoff of seeds since. Try tamping it down and see how effective it is.

Thank you for the story Pete. I know some of the details may be hard to share. At least it was/is for me. I have a VERY (extraordinarily) similar story. I am not religious anymore but was in my youth. BUT did have a profound wake up event that made me reevaluate everything. I made a decision to turn everything around 100% and have been turned around for a couple decades. Sometimes it takes a catalyst, whatever form it comes in, to make us change. I am very glad you had your catalyst and are doing well.

Seeded a complete reno last week in my front and side yard. There was a 40% chance of .14" on Tuesday so no biggie. Well after 1.8" of hard rain I had a washout. I'm happy to say I used the same rake and see method the next day after it was dried out a little bit and then went over it with a roller to work everything back down again and now I have germination over the entire yard. Spreader elite is coming in great.

@4:12...feeding the chickens. I am very familiar with that process of grass seeding and unfortunately wash outs (part of the process), haha! Just spend the labor day weekend busy on 2 lawns. I used Tube Sand on a problem area (small area) at my parents house where heavy rain will cause a wash out to divert water.

Welcome to the world of grass seed, on my 3rd reseed !

Had a spot I just seeded get washed out on Monday. Did basically the same thing. I used the cheap landscape fabric from Lowe's and staked it down so it overlapped in a way the water would run over it. It worked perfect. It rained on and off all week and heavy rain would run off, light rain would soak though. I pulled it off yesterday morning (Friday) and could see some spots that had germinated. This afternoon I had fairly even germination with 1/4in tall sprouts covering the entire area.

I love the corona garden weasel.... Have used it many, many times... Sometimes across my whole yard to get that gooood contact. Hard work, but makes a big difference. I got lazy this year after doing my Reno... I wish I did a little more work and worked on my bare spots better.

Pete. I used the bluish green matting last year that you showed during the Lowe's scenes in the video. I also tried staples. I found the the staples were unnecessary because when the matting got wet, either by irrigation or rain, it actually stuck the ground. There was no chance or wind or water moving the matting. Also I tried to remove the matting as the grass started to germinate and grow, but I found that it tore came up with the matting defeating the purpose. I had to leave the matting and let the grass grow through it. Once the grass became more established the next spring I because picking out the matting. It's now Sept 3 and I am still picking out little bits of it out before I do my fall aeration and overseed.

Thanks for the guard rail analogy. Even after being a Christ follower for over 45 years I still struggle with temptation and sin. When I pray lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil I will add the guard rail analogy.

Born and raised in the Catholic faith and no longer see the need for faith anymore. However, thank you for sharing your insights on lawn care and your life experiences!

We all have those trouble spots.... water running thru low areas. I filled about a 600sf area that was troublesome for years. But no matter what you're still at the mercy of mother rain. I used Penningtons slope master, a mulch like product on other spots and it seemed to work...

I had a bare area in my backyard where everything slopes towards so I used a couple of those Pennington meshless and biodegradable seed mats. I had numerous torrential downpours after I did it and the grass came up perfectly. I did this in the spring and now current day the mat is almost completely disintegrated
