Awesome. That Turntable sounded better than I thought it would. My parents gave me a Capetronic All-in-one with cassette when I was 10, in 1983. As the kid I was back then, I loved it.

Wait, what? A repair without capacitors being the issue? 😎

"Twisted sister.. What is THAT?" lol, That was basically the way I discovered DIO.. I found an old LP down in the basement and an old turntable, along with some other records, so I brought them up to my room, only to discover that I couldn`t connect it to anything :/ But I still put that old thing on, and was introduced to METAL! :D I listened to holy diver over and over again, *straight from the needle..* Oh yeah ;) *Made me buy my first sound system :)* Now, about 25 years later, I still love DIO, but I`m not listening to holy diver straight from the needle anymore, even though that was METAL AF..

Those type of mid 1970s record changers are known to gum up and have platter locking when the grease dries up

When I was young, I always wanted a stereo system like this one but I never receive one, but years after I received the next best thing, a CD player.

These older combos follow me home. Just got a magnavox. Goona clean it up and sell it to someone who can appriciate it.

what kind of needle would you need to replace the current one if it didn’t work?

How did you get the platter removed? I have almost the exact same system and I cant figure out how to remove the platter.

Usually, the platter is held in place by a "C" clip around the center shaft. You have to carefully pry it away with a blade screwdriver being careful it doesn't fly off and get lost. Cover it with your hand or a plastic bag while doing it helps.

The reason there's no output transistor heat sinks is because the critter that gnawed on the front panel ate the heat sinks as well. Somewhere, in a dusty, dark memory, I saw some sort of typical single-pane cartoon where the punch-line was 'Transistor' and the graphic might have been a man in a nun's habit with high-heels. Or some-such.

Need advice on belt placements on a jc penny cassette player 8 track record player combo. I'm not sure how to put the belt on. Paid 60 on ebay everything worked and I was shocked the 8 track head mount wasn't cracked. Record played too. Just cassette belt turned in to tar now I'm not sure how to put a new one on

I have a sears all in one stereo system. Left side speaker does not work, it's not the speaker. Both side worked when I first got it. Please help. Any advise?

If there's no sound in any mode in that channel, it could be anything from a bad connection to a faulty part in the peamp or power amplifier circuit. You'd need to signal trace.

That's one strange system. Liked Snickers more than it! Nice job, though.

If i had too much spare time, i'd make a supercut of all of Snickers' appearances : )

At first glance I saw the name on it was MacDonald and thought, made in America due to its age, then you turned it around and there it was, "made in Taiwan"

Single ended power with output caps. Cartridge sounds nasty compared to FM, ceramic?
@MichaelBeeny
@MichaelBeeny 7 лет назад
Probably crystal, ceramic a bit exotic for such rubbish. Often fed into too lower input impedance, hence no bass and probably little over 7/8khz

@@MichaelBeeny Crystal carts were pretty much gone from the consumer market by the mid-70s. This'll be a ceramic.

Ummmm, nothing like metallised plastic when you are hungry! John, the low power is probably due to 8 ohms, such low priced stuff was usually made for 4 ohm speakers, helped to keep the power supply cheap. I think you were wise NOT to make a power test with un heat sinked devices. Might just about give 3 watts into 4 ohms on a good day with a south wind. Must have taken a great deal of skill to get quite as much second harmonic distortion as that amplifier had.

that grease shouldn't cause any problem since you conservative with it
