Compete for Cars: competeforcars.co.uk/product/... In today's video we crack on with the Volkswagen Caravelle repair and try and get it ready for holiday! Can I do it? Find out!! Instagram: saving_salvage
VW have the paint scheme right, doesnt make sense visually as it is, in my opinion! cracking job, but impossible time limit! Quality prioritises speed!
You did good, just a day too short to do it in. Have you thought about fitting the plastic arch guards all round? Just a thought and, it does save the arch paint in car park scuffs and scrapes when random trolleys are allowed to roll into your car.
Top work! You’ve really helped to demystify the whole front end of these things which is such a torrid mess of rubber & plastic tubing & wires everywhere. Great fast repair! Can’t wait to see it painted.
What you need to do with the paint is to take all that blue to the underwindow line and keep the roof white with front pillar. Obviously it involves more body shop paint but it will look Sick!!!
That was a massive ask, but jeez you very nearly smashed it out the park, amazing effort Dean👍👋👋👋👋 Enjoy a well deserved holiday with your loved family, and look forward to seeing the Caravelle completed
Awesome effort. you did so well in getting it close to complete. Maybe in hind sight it will turn out to be good that you didn't quite make it, give you time to fully check it over and make sure all is OK.
Top job Dean!!!! Shame you missed your MOT slot I’m sure you will get it done!!! I personally don’t like the two tone there is too much of a contrast I think it should be more subtle. I love the bottom half dark colour but maybe a top colour that blends better.
Lovely vehicle Dean. Well done for getting that 90% done. As you say, at least you haven't got those nagging doubts while on holiday. Have a good break and leave RU-vid behind for a while and get some family time with that gorgeous little family.
Shame you didn't hit the deadline but you did a great job there Dean. If it was mine I'd get the white bits painted blue as I only like 2 tone on split window campers. You can dissolve the Sikaflex with WD40, I once had a genuine dealer fit spoiler on a car and it started coming loose when I was ready to sell. I squirted WD40 in the gap between the spoiler and tailgate, let it soak for 10 minutes and the Sikaflex peeled off. The paintwork was perfect underneath. Enjoy the holiday!
I agree the blue looks better than the white unless you get the body shop to top blend the white to blue and wrap the white to black, and enjoy your Holidays have a good one
Lots of comments say you need to respray the bonnet white but I like it as it is. Take a deep breath and have a holiday then check your work before MOT and letting the family loose in it :)
Awesome little project, keep it original and updated video with a brake down on how much it cost and finished paint job and clean but 110% grate job happy holidays definitely deserved!
Cant believe the speed on this repair! - well done all around - the ACC should recalibrate its-self driving around, if not park it 1.2m from a wall, and hit recalibrate in ODIS / Geko & VCDS(?)
Was good to see you get this done really quick Dean shame you didn't get it ready for mot time 😢but overall it looks great I like it with the blue bonnet but you better ask your wife 😅hope you're holidays go well for you all have a great time 🎉
Shame that you missed the slot for the MOT but I kinda think it may have been for the best, Don't want any breakdowns ruining your holiday. Good job as well.
I think you've done well in the you had as you said there's no worries about it breaking down and sorting out that wiring. That did my head in and I wasn't doing it.😊
Wow what a 100% success!! You don’t need the stress of a possible breakdown on holidays so just rest on this triumph and plan your next holiday away when it’s perfect👍👍👍👍 happy holidays, ps your channel is more awesome than ever now🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
Top job. I saw this on copart, sent to the better half as a successor prospect for her T5 sportline but we agreed I haven't the time to fix it and it would likely look half finished in 6 months. Good to see it more or less done
Liking the 20-ish minute videos! I like the blue as well, you should take the blue a bit higher to where the lower panel ends on the A Pillar and same on the C Pillar and filling in the white bits below the windows.
Well done, would be cool to see it after it is 100% compete, blue bonnet looks good too… Perhaps even an outtake with the family going on a first drive in it when all done. Enjoy the holiday.
Great project and amazed thar you got so far in such a short times. At least you will now be able to finish it off and test it properly before it goes into service with the family.
Looks great in the time frame you’ve cracked it out in. I would do the bonnet white, if you look at the drivers side the top of the wing is white so it would wrap round well!
so close but that was down to waiting on parts Amazing effort so much work and yet you nailed it even with out clear diagrams for the fuse box assembly very nice job
You did a great job Dean, it was always gonna be tight to finish it, not sure of the colour tbh, I like the white, just not sure of the blue colour, what about wrapping it in a funky colour ??, Well done Dean, have a great holiday.
Love these mate. But agree, best get it complete, while it’s back together it’s the last 10% that will finish it, valet, paint and trim bits 👍🏻. Enjoy your holiday.
White twin racing stripes up the bonnet, with matching blue racing stripes continuing over the roof. Very well done on such a tight timeline. Enjoy Devon!
Awesome job. Sorry you couldn’t get it done in time we were looking forward to spotting it as we’re down in Cornwall on holiday at the mo. I’m with you on the bonnet colour would make it stand out from the standard two tone look
