Been welding almost 40 years and never seen that soot trick, I usually just coat a surface with grease but your idea would stand up to the welding heat..never too late to learn
The acetylene trick is a wonderful What, Nooo Way idea. Going to try that now, usually use an old glove/leather and zip ties to cover machined pieces for protection.
I had no idea your channel was this great, I had only been seeing your shorts..... no, not the ones with the holes in them......cheers from Florida, Paul
clamp idea is great, I sometimes will put two together so my LazyBoy can et close to the work, great video technique and angles by the way.... Bravo, Paul

Gouged enough.. oops, not quite 🤣😂 happens all the time. Anything to lean on, just makes life easier!! I like to see why 💩fails too.. that would definitely do it!! See that a lot with heavy argon mix in mig, just doesn't penetrate like straight CO2.. but it sure looks pretty 🙄🤣😂
A whole new piece of the same failed design. Good news for the repair guy. Not so good for the owner. Not a good look for the dummy who designed the repair. It's a woeful design, that pin will fail again. Should have been designed to be replaceable originally.
