This is the first ever time I've taken apart ANY Nintendo Console (console for that matter!) and can't wait to move onto my next one. Since this upload I've I've delve deep into a few other consoles, one of them being the old trusty PlayStation One!

My tip is tape the shoulder, power and volume buttons down prior to unscrewing the case. I broke a power switch on my first ds lite repair, it sucked soldering a new power switch on.

Im gonna be doing the same thing in a few days and im super excited but also super nervous. Im not replacing the screen, im just gonna open it up and see what the deal is and clean what i can but putting it all back together seems overwhelming. Its already broken though so i have a lot more to gain than to lose if it goes well 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m actually really grateful for the mistake at the end because my childhood DS broke in 2010, and I’m just now getting around to fixing it… and the mistake you made at the end was the exact problem mine had. The top screen stayed blank, but the bottom flashed for a moment, then went black. I’m really relieved that it was just a problem with the ribbon cable being loose and I don’t have to replace anything… Really good video - very helpful!

oh this was a nightmare for my first repair I was trying to replace my ds lite shell and it went awful I broke the em10 charging coil and the top screen even thogh I have loads of electronic experience it was a nightmare but eventually I got enough confidence to have a go at it again and success great video it was very interesting I liked and subscribed keep up the great work

I reshelled mine in like 40 minutes and it works perfect! Ive only reshelled a GBC and GBA SP before.

There’s loads of guides on how to replace the top screen, I’d suggest watching a couple and giving it a go :)

Joey Does Tech I’m just holding off until this virus goes away. I need to order all the gadgets/screwdrivers for disassembling. Don’t think I’m brave enough to tackle a DS lite right off the bat.. I was thinking something like one of those new after market screens on the GbC. Or fixing my joycon, idk if its the control stick or dirt thats causing drift.

@@SkinnyDoom You don't have to spend too much to get started, my toolkit cost me around £16 for literally ALL the driver bits I could ask for to get started on console repair. Most bits you order off Ebay (screen etc) usually come with the tools to start anyways. Assuming that's the joycon for the switch?

Joey Does Tech Yeah, that repair is easy as I just need to carefully open the joycon and the control sticks just a ribbon cable, no soldering required

MagicalRuin no I’m being serious, it’s pretty easy actually. All you have do do is unscrew some parts and disconnect and reconnect ribbon cables.

MagicalRuin I’ve rehoused half a dozen joy cons and haven’t ever had any issues. It’s definitely easier than replacing the top screen on a DS.
