Thanks to Jason....agreeing to be on camera and interviewed....now he can tell his children he's on a FAMOUS RU-vid channel. 😎 They'll ❤ it! Appreciate these maintenance videos, Chris. As always.. you're the best. 👍👏
Now ya' know why little boys stop to watch . I'm surprised there aren't people watching when Chris is in a public setting . Couldn't chase me away ! HAHAHA !!! Some kids never grow up !!
Jason, if you happen to be following along thanks for sharing your story. We need more kids getting into the trades. Our son is almost 15 and we are hoping he and his friends head down that path. Good honest well paying work.
Jason is a great guy and one hell of a technician. I had the privilege to have him out where I work on multiple occasions to fix/ diagnose issues with the Volvo equipment we own here in Florida. There's nobody better.
Jason is definitely one of the best technicians I have ever known. He helped me a lot as a tech when I was stumped on diag. and is very patient. Very knowledgeable. One of the best for sure.
Chris, please thank Jason for sharing how he got started. Chris you and Mike are GREAT for getting people noticed, always taking the time to show Quality Professionals. Another GREAT INFORMATIVE VIDEO.
Yet another example of a pair of honest guys in their respective industries respecting each other. I knew there was a reason I've watched so many of your video's Chris. Thank you once again.
Thanks for sharing the video Chris, it’s nice to see other aspects of your business and the good people you meet that also work within your industry. Many folks think that you make so much money per hour using a dozer or track hoe but never realize the cost of maintenance, transporting equipment and ever increasing cost of insurance.
That's cool to hear the stories of how people get to where they are, he's a good guy, seems like he knows his machines, thanks for sharing, man that service truck is bad to the bone, got the right haul truck on the side, Volvo for the win, 💪🇺🇸🇺🇸
I’m with you brother I have loaded thousands of off-road trucks of all different brands and there ain’t none of them that will out work that Volvo and cat would be my second to best but to me Volvo is the only haul truck made. Lol
I don't comment much but always like the video. Man mechanics like jason are really rare to come by that actually enjoy what they do. That actually get the job done. If I found someone like that in the UK I'd happily buy him a pint. What a great guy. Thanks for the upload Chris. 👍🇬🇧
Seems like a nice guy! I always liked it when the tech that came out was willing to chat a bit, but not so much the work didn’t get done. This guy does that very well!! It’s too bad the truck was so dirty, but it can be easier to find some of the leaks. I hated my equipment being dirty let alone oily and a mess. We had 2 Hotsy power washers that had kerosene heaters for the water to run through. It was scalding hot when it came out. Cleaned the area very well even without degreaser. If I wanted the machine almost spotless, after a solid wash down with soapy hot water, I would then soak down the entire area I wanted clean a last time with a generous amount of degreaser, then let it set, then the final wash was spotless. The nooks and cranny’s you can’t se get cleaned out just as well. We ran it at around 2500 psi. We could go higher but with the heat it can strip paint very easily. The techs loved working even on our old stuff. I sold out and retired. I still kept one of the Hotsy washers. It has been kept together and running well since 1982. 40 years now. The heater coils etc have been replaced a couple of times, but when you see it you would think it was only a few years old. Gotta take care of things.
My grandpaw was a heavy equipment mechanic for Caterpillar for years , then bought his own truck and worked for himself. When I was a teen I would help him during the summer. He taught me how to work hard, not just on the machines but in life in general. Spent many a day in D6's and graders. He passed away in 2006, and I miss him everyday.
I bet Jason likes working for you. When a customer understands what it takes , helping but not hindering, it's a rare pleasure to work for people like you.
You do a great job of keeping your equipment clean and maintained. It definitely shows in your amount of breakdowns too. It is very rare one of your pieces go down.
Chris, this was amazing... hearing Jason's story. Thank you. These unappreciated guys keep the wheels of the country turning while politicians waste time and money.
I did 45 years as a heavy duty mechanic. I would say 75% of that was field service, 10% was rebuilding machines, 10% was shop mechanic and the other 5% was management. I liked field service the best.
I love to hear stories of people's lives, how they got into their work, where they came from. I was in the doctor's office today and asked every staff person who helped me similar questions. I find it all very fascinating, especially the older I get. Chris, I look forward to seeing what's new on your channel. Thanks once more!
Loved this video Chris. Big thanks to Jason for allowing us to watch him work & tell his story. Funny how you think you will take a certain path work wise & then you end up somewhere else. Jason seems like a really good bloke & very experienced/skilled in what he does. Take care Chris & cheers🐨🦘🥰
He seems like a stand up Service tech. This was a cool one. It is great to see how personable you are Chris and the behind the scenes stuff is always interesting. 👍
absolutely agree with all the comments below on Jason's story of how he got to where he is today , we all know Chris's path .. but that handshake at the end signifies the great respect between two men that know what is involved in the industry from both the operator and the men who keep the machine running...kudos to both of you
I love to watch a good mechanic work. I taught my brother how to change transmissions when he was fifteen and I didn't do much after that. I topped out at about "insert tab A into slot B" and he kept going.
great video Chris, I think Jason is a mechanic you'll probably request again, quality guy doing quality work with 20 to 30 yrs experience, I am like you I love Volvos for me its Volvo cars and built the same way with longevity in mind and operator comfort and ease of use. 👍
It's good to hear how others got into the work they do. It's fun to hear the stories and adventure of different jobs. Another winner from adventures with Chris and those he gets to be in company with.
You have chosen wisely Grasshopper. In times such as these the expertise of a professional mechanic is just as important as is the expertise of a professional excavation man. Do-overs have become too expensive even for the strong.⭐🇺🇸🐘
A very good friend of mine is 71 years old, Vietnam vet, turbine engine mechanic. When he gets pissed, every other word is a variation of Fridays Usually Create Kaos. Has a heart of gold and would give you his house if you needed somewhere to sleep. I learned a lot of mechanical stuff from him. The stories he tells me to this day blow me away. I love talking to people and hearing their stories. Its truly incredible to imagine the world through someone else's eyes.
Very good mechanic. You have to be a special talent to keep a smile on when you're facing heavy, dirty work. Worked on a few Detroit's both 6 and 8's. Known for their ability to leak and it turns black. Most time you worked in the yard, on the ground under the trucks. Great video, brought back memories of wrenching (big wrenches) .. Thank you Chris, you always make a good video, explain each and every step.
Yeah Chris you can tell that old boy has been around that equipment for a long time just by listening to him talk he knew what he was doing and another thing did you ever get the AC working in it and did he fix the wheel seal on the front axel, other than that who would’ve thought that an injector would lock that motor down to cause it not to start, I would have never thought of that but anyway brother another great video and I can’t wait to see old Barney out there hauling dirt with an owner that will take care of him so you and John stay safe and keep the videos coming my friend
I remember me and the mates back in the mid 80's would work on motorbikes and lawnmower engines, every gasket was cut from cereal boxes and soaked in 2 stroke oil over night, I loved those days.
@@farmerbill6855 Any thickish cardboard mate, those were the days :-) .., remember laying the cardboard out on a head and tapping it with a hammer to get the shape and cutting it out with a craft knife.
Very enjoyable video!!! Solid mechanic, blessed to have him working on your equipment. Thankful for nothing serious on truck. God's blessings and stay safe.
Wow it’s always something with heavy equipment…..either inside running it or underside working on it…..I give Chris so much credit to put the money out to keep his sh*t running the best that it can….. he’s a rare breed anymore…..
Chris I have watched this video four times now and I can’t wait to see it on that pond job just to listen to that old boy running and doing what it was designed to do, haul dirt. But like your D6D, I think you’ve got you a good haul truck now all it took was a little TLC so like I said I can’t wait to see it on the job and working alongside of your D6.
I worked for GM n there were some people that had been on the assembly lines for over 30 years that seemed brain dead.no body home .good mechanic is valuable.
Working along side an experienced mechanic is always a learning experience. Whenever we have someone out I try to stick real close to see what I can learn from them kind of like paying for a n the field education
Hey Chris love seeing you and Jason sharing stories. It's funny to hear he's from New hampshire as I live in mass. I know of the dealer he is talking about. Great job seeing you guys working together.
Really need to clean the underneath there That Volvo Worker is awesome he knows his job and he knows his machines. Thank you for sharing that part of the experience
Great video, Chris. It's always great when one works on interesting equipment. I used to work on the avionics on F-4 Phantoms. It was always an exciting puzzle to figure out. Not unlike fixing and restoring large equipment like your Volvo's.
This is the kind of man I would drink beer with or tea is that is his thing......Confidant , knowledgable and hard working. Much respect to blue collar workers...they make our lives easier.
It's nice to see that you insist on properly fixing your equipment. No "temporary" (permanent) bandaids and bailing wire. It costs money, but you really do benefit down the road.
Enjoy your videos very informative you my friend are an inspiration to everyone who has their own company. You go above and beyond what you have agreed to with your clients. If all owners were as honest and had your integrity this country would be in much better shape. Wish our politicians had your honor but we can wish. God bless you and your family and may your business prosper beyond your wildest dreams.
Hi from uk chris👋👍 pleased the haul truck all up to par now and ready for some pond duties and ready to haul some magic big thank you to and massive shout to JASON FROM ASCENDUM 👍💪👍👌 thank you for tackling the tasks and being there for our "magicman" chris and thanks for your history to your position in life💙 its always nice if someone loves what they do it gives more confidence on great jobs knowing that its a passion not just a job so thank you both for your time and be safe see you soon 👍👋
Excellent video Chris!! Thanks for taking us along on the journey of bringing the haul truck up to your standards. I hope she provides you many years of productivity.
