I had to replace my hose bib but did not want to solder on a new one and it was not worth it to hire a plumber to come out just for that. Here is the one I used:

You sir, just saved me hundreds of dollars. The bib somehow broke off the copper pipe. Emergency plumbers cost $250-$375 hourly. I saw your video and you helped me!

Thanks for this very useful video. I have exactly the same issue and had already ordered the same Shark Bite tap. My plumbing service wants $200 just to showup and "assess" the problem, and would likely charge triple the price for whatever tap they would install.

I installed gripwerks, now about 5 years. Need to replace because it's now leaking. Can it be taken off or take apart to replace the valve portion?

Hi- helpful video-I gather the pipe coming out did not have threads? Mine is threaded but I can't get the new bibb on without there being a leak behind, even with 6 wraps of teflon tape.

Also using that wire brush is a lot better than using sand paper by hand

Regular copper fitting are cheaper but I would need the tourch, flux, and solder for one job. I'm pretty sure I could do it but it would be ugly. This was $8 and done with no leak.

mine has some kind of wire coming out of the ground attached to it. Do I need to turn of the electricity before I remove it?

Not an electrician but . . . No that is a ground wire and has no current. Make sure you connect it to bare copper when you reattach it.

I performed the same repair today. One thing that concerns me is that the spigot spins on the pipe. As you did this repair a couple years ago, have you experienced and issues as a result of the spigot spinning?

No problems still. I think some bibs have little screw hole to afix it to the wall. Mine works fine as is. still could spin if i wanted it to though

Next time solder a thread attachment to the end and it will make it much easier to replace bibs when they go bad. A little teflon and you're in business.

@@carlthomas4959hopefully you'll be able to get that shark bite off without cutting it because that little bit of pipe is going to get a lot smaller on you until you have to solder a cupler on.
