i think that the steam deck has been one of my favorite purchases in recent memory; just an incredibly easy-to-use handheld. i just love how steam OS has been so nice to use that it actually makes me want to build a dedicated steam OS/HoloISO PC console. i'm hoping someday that windows-based handhelds eventually get to that level of ease!

Awesome video as always! From a parent's perspective when you're busy in the living room taking care of the kids and spending time with the family do you find yourself playing more PC games with this thing? I own a really nice PC but I hardly get to play the thing lol. Plus I stare at a computer all day for my 9 to 5 so moving from the work computer straight to a gaming computer just isn't an option. Thoughts?

I'm in the same situation. I have a great desktop, but I also refuse to play when my son is awake or if my wife isn't doing her own thing. I just stay up late and don't get enough sleep haha. I mainly want a handheld for travel and work (my job is either 100% on or 100% off, so we can have long periods of downtime), and the streaming Chromebooks aren't really doing it for me. I'm waiting to see what performance on the Ally looks like, as well as what accessories you can get for it. The Ally is supposed to be significantly more powerful, but it's hard to argue with a much larger screen, a keyboard stand, and a detachable controller.

Hey man! Go to settings, then click time and language, then click typing, then click touch keyboard, then tick the box.. show the touch keyboard when there's no keyboard attached. Boom! A much better keyboard pops up when you touch search bars n stuff 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

The biggest selling points of the Steam Deck are price, portability and running steam games on the go. But beyond that Valve gives a lot of support and updates to the Steam Deck. My fear is that if I buy one of these overpriced clones I woll stop getting updates after a year or two.

price ? who is satisfied with just 64gb for pc games ? portability ? 😂 Do you mean in tbe home. did you try to put that in your pocket or play for prolonged sessions without your arms killing you ? For me the Steam Deck mid range is the starting price and is a great device for playing pc games.

I've never played on a handheld but am planning on buying one (probably the Ally, but we'll see). Do you find the sub-60 framerates very noticeable, or is the screen so small you don't notice it?

I don't notice any of them man. I've played through ER, Witcher 3, Dark Souls 3, GTA IV, GTA V all around 30 FPS, after an hour or more of gaming you wont even notice, unless you're extremely picky, one of those types who always has to have it at 60 FPS.

40fps is sweetspot. But choosing any hz from 40 to 60 is only Steam Deck feature. Like system wide FSR. And many more....

The main issue for me is that the One Xplayer/Ayaneo/GPD Win/portable PC's are all from China so how long does it take to deliver it? and the price is bad not only that, they are not updating the devices there just making better/new models.The Steam Deck is far better and it's why I purchased one myself the 256GB model and Valve is updating the device,making it better than it was at launch.

Steamdeck always has updates. Onexplayer, may be powerful and looks night, but a year to 3 will probably drop support. I'm all for competition. Hopefully, this competition from all these brands will improve the next generation.

it's a windows machine running standard laptop parts, what support updates are you even talking about? what little proprietary firmware this has is just to control bios settings more conveniently and that doesn't need regular updates; these handhelds are literally the exact same as any other APU-driven laptop except in a different form factor

Tbh what makes the steam deck so great is the community, modders and of course steam as they all find fixes and updates to improve on it being that it's in more hands given the price of it. That's going to be the down side of more expensive hand helds yeah it might be more powerful but you're most likely not going to get the support and community that the steam deck has. Now let's hope the new ROG Ally will have that special price because the more you can get your device into the community's hands the more support it's going to have. But that's just my opinion 😅

I love my Oxp2. In my opinion this is the only alternative to the Rog Ally. It has the large screen and a huge battery. You can use it as a gaming handheld as well as a tablet or laptop. With the detachable controllers you can use it to work from home. These perks differentiate it from all other 6800u handheld. I already dropped it and it survived without a scratch, so the build quality is very good.

@@jfitnesshealth The Rog Ally will be a bit more powerful. The Cpu and the GPU are one generation older in the OXP2. But the Rog Ally has a smaller screen, smaller battery and the charger is 65 W VS 100 W of the OXP2.

I own the OXP2 with 2TB and 32GB. I've been using it for Steam games, emulation and general PC stuff on the go. The huge screen was the main selling point for me. I hate Windows 11 so I built a cut down Windows 10 image integrating the OXP2 drivers and software and never looked back. So far, there is very little about it that I don't like. The kick stand is kind of tiny and that is probably my biggest issue.

@percyvolnar8010 the OXP2 was the first modern handheld I bought. I didn't even know the original OXP even existed, I wasn't looking for one at the time. I bought the OXP2 for a 15 hour flight to South Korea and absolutely fell in love with it.

I was frightened when I first purchased it, but the moment it arrived from China and I turned it on, and it booted into windows at 2.5k resolution, i fell in love with it immediately. I still use mine. The next handheld PC i will purchase will be when an nvidia mobile gpu makes its way into those devices.

My biggest pet peeve with these "premium, 2x more powerful than Steam Deck" devices is the fact that you still have to downscale the resolution. 720p on the Steam Deck's 800p is noticable enough, now imagine 800p on this 1600p thing

Sd runs most demanding games at sub 720p. It gets to 720 with fsr. 800P on a larger1600p screen is a mich more enjoyable situation

He should totally NOT get any of the Aokzoe products , especially now. They have the worst customer service and their product had a lot of issues on the start. If your still going with " China " market then at least go with this OneXplayer or AyaNeyo. Otherwise it's SteamDeck or Asus Ally.

I think I'll stick with the steam deck. It does what I need. Play 7 generations of games perfectly. I'll stick to my desktop for newer AAA games. Imo AAA games just seem lackluster in handheld.

I've had almost all of the GPD products, OneXplayer Mini Pro, and Steam Deck. My kids have taken over all my devices and the SteamDeck was awesome when we could run Roblox. I could install Windows on it but I'm too lazy to do so. The pros of the other SteamDeck competitors is native Windows and the ability to run Xbox Game Pass. However some games don't work on these devices that run perfectly on the SteamDeck SteamOS. GPS Win Max was my favorite all in one laptop but I didn't game much on it as the screen doesn't feel good in terms of form factor. Also all of my GPD devices have died in terms of the battery. Needed to order replacements for each one. OneXplayer is really solid but a terrible work computer for windows. It just doesn't feel capable at all when used with a keyboard and mouse. SteamDeck is okay but too heavy, so I lose interest after a while, even if I use Rokid Air glasses. Luckily though, my young kids max out each device as we're often on long road trips for their sports.

This is for pc gaming outside of the house. If u dont play outside,U are most definitely going to be much better off with what u already have. Might i suggest using your phone as the screen via moonlight. And the vita acting as your controller for the phone,via vitapad? A good solution if u dont already have a controller for the phone/dont want to buy a singlepurpose device.

But when the oled came out I decided to get one and see what the fuss was all about and well I was not disappointed. I now have a collection of over 30 physical games and 70 downloaded...😁

Yep, definitely recommend the ROG over this thing. Hard to beat the ALLY price for the power behind it. Dunno how these companies will beable to compete.
