Replaced Dead DIM in the 2002 Volvo V70 2.4T With A XeMODeX Rebuilt Cluster - It Works Again!

This is the second time the Driver Information Module (DIM) died in our 2002 Volvo V70 2.4T. It went completely blank at start-up without any information, lights, or gauge needle movements WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING.
I replaced the original 2002 DIM with a used DIM back in July 2019. The clock on the used replacement started scrolling about a year ago but all of the computer information and gauges / dials were still functional - until completely dying at start up August 2023.
This time I am replacing the dead DIM with an improved rebuild DIM from XeMODex in Canada. Check out their website for details for their Volvo DIM replacement options:

Nice content! I just subscribed! Also, my car won’t unlock from the inside aswell using the switch on the ddm. But locks just fine like you said. You think cleaning the module will fix it?

Maybe. I'm waiting to locate a V70R Nordkap driver door card before I tear into the ddm cleaning project. I think it should help...

Replaced relay CM122 on CEM under dashboard (No indication of meters on dashboard and no functioning Climate control panel) Fuse 24 was intact! Everything on the dashboard was down!! So I don't understand why you immediately replaced the dashboard without looking for the cause. It is possible that the relay temporarily makes contact and you think that replacing the dashboard will solve the problem!! A good check is whether the Auto climate panel has also failed.

This was the 2nd DIM Cluster replacement - first was 7/2019. Same symptoms - no cluster information with car running/driving. The Climate Control panel was working normally. This is a common failure for the earlier P2's. XemodeX rebuilds install an improved heat-sink to reduce heat damage inside their DIM - it is plug & play and has worked perfectly since install. :)
