I used the pump as a vacuum too, but i hooked up some pvc ball valves where i can stop sucking from the pool and start sucking from my vacuum hose. The sand is the filter. Then i reverse the process when finished.
Thanks! No doubt, this video is a couple of years old. Some minor changes may have been made the the basic principles are the same. Thanks for stopping in and watching.
Ive just received my new Sandman 1HP pump & Sand filter for my all vinyl Intex 18 ft round easy set pool that looks like your pool here. Please answer a question for me. IVE GOT MY filter and pump off of together and secured however it's instructing me to ground the water pump before ever plugging it in to the power and I was wondering if I need to do that and what exactly I needed you to do that because I got a thick copper wire connected it to the grounding terminal located on the top of the motor I dug a hole about 2 ft deep, got a pole and ran the solid copper wire from the grounding connector, thru the pole and down into the ground burried a couple feet down into the ground along with the pole that is around it. I'm not seeing anyone else doing this with their sand filter and pump with these pools so Im so confused.
A washed sand is preferred. it would be best to go too your local pool store and use what they have. That way you won't get all the trash that comes with other sources of sand.
Thank You and also thanks for stopping in to vies the video. Please consider sharing it and subscribing. That would be very helpful for the channel - Thanks...
Great video--thank you! My valve head won't seat properly. The O ring is on there flush, so I'm wondering if it's possible that the opening of the sand tank is defective. Any tips?
If you don't have the tube coming up from the sand centered or it is going on an angle that would cause the misalignment. Did you make sure all the sand if off of the mating surfaces? Did you use the Pool & Spa Lube on the mating surfaces? I guess there could be a defect but it is unlikely. All those units are built from the same mold and that kind of defect should have been caught at the factory. i would check my alignment over and make sure the tube is going into the bottom of the head and the tube is true vertical. Also, the ring that secures the head to the filter needs to be clamping down on both head and filter. Try tightening up the nut a little but not too much. Hope this all helps. Good luck and thanks for watching.
@@marcystephens1625 I was thinking about you today! Wondering if you got it going. I'm glad to see everything worked out alright. Have fun this summer in your pool - ;o)
Yes/No... The efficiency of the filter will be a little less until the sand works through the system. And, you run the risk of damaging the head/seals of the filter. Honestly, depending on how much sand went down the manifold, I would dump it all out, take it apart to clean it and start over again. However, you may get lucky and everything will be alright. I've seen it go both ways. Thank goodness these filters are dirt cheap and easily replaced if they fail. Sorry about the no answer - ;o) Thanks for watching!
@@melissaaguilar7830 It depends on how much the pool was used that day. More times tha n none I just make sure the chemical balance is right and leave it off.
Without being thee that is something that is hard to figure out. Only thing I can say is keep checking it over and make sure it is like it was when you first installed it. Might be a loose connection or clog somewhere - ;o) Good Luck and thanks for watching!
No need to prime as long as the pump is installed below water level. If water doesn't naturally flow into pump just crack open the filter cover to relieve the air lock. Than ks for watching!
without seeing it in operation on video it's hard to know what is going on. Take a video of it and post it on your RU-vid. I'll take a look at it. A quick thought would be you may not have the selector handle on the correct setting or it may be set half and half between two settings. I look forward to your video. What does your pressure gauge show it operating at?
@@PhillipCerialeI just got it and i set it up yesterday the gauge hadn’t moved yet I’ll take a video and upload it it to you I watch your tutorial over and over I’m trying to get it right thank you for replying back to me😊
If you take a look at part 1 you will see the outside of the box with manufacture name and specifications. I'd say the cord length is about 10 feet long give or take. It may even be a little bit longer, not much however. Thanks for watching! Here is part 1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AUX3KNzRKP0.html
@@PhillipCeriale thanks! got my pump cord its literally like 6 feet long I read online some say use a 10 gauge extension some say its a big no...saw you used an extension Is the pump still good??
@@iselaperez2882 Yes! I'll be putting in new sand this year and doing a start-up in a few weeks. You could get away with a 12 ga. 10 ft extension cord. Just make sure the outlet is a GFIC. FWIW, instead of gettin' a isolated GFI outlet there is available GFI breakers that can be put into your breaker box if you are so inclined. I am luck enough to have a CFI Breaker.
OMGosh! Yep, that may be the reason. The sand is causing a pressure rise inside the filter. I'm surprised it didn't blowout the seal or worse. PLEASE proceed carefully... I hope you are able to get it changed out without any further issues. Thanks for commenting and taking a look at my video. Wishing you well....
@@mariselam.g.8301 Not really. I just plug it in and unplug it when I need to backwash or turn it off. I also have the option of turning off a dedicated GFIC breaker as well.
