I bought the jet 600x from Axminster 5 years ago, it’s never cut square or straight from new, got zero help or solutions from them at all. Now I have a lovely expensive paper weight stuck in the middle of the workshop!
Hi pal, I have the SIP 10inch table saw, 3hp 16amp, I do t have a problem with over hearing so I am guessing that the larger blade you are running is taking its toll on your motor, if it's possible in relation to your production work to run a 10inch blade that's sharp I feel your over heating may be solved, hope this helps, regards Louie Ulster Workshops
I think my TS200 would last longer than that :) Weird how they persist with the pressed steel extension tables as well. They really are junk. I replaced mine straight away with 25mm plywood.
Hi did you ever get this problem resolved bro I am looking to replace my saw and have been looking at Axminster as there does not seem to be lots of choices around for a decent shop saw
No, we had two of them, the second was worse than the first. The big green table saw we got second hand (30yrs old) has been a total beast and we've struggled to make it unhappy with anything we've thrown at it. It's only 1kw more powerful than the axminster claims, but the motor in it alone weighs more than the entire axminster saw. The axminster is very very light trade use. If you look at axminster's definition of 'trade' grade it works out to about 4hrs/day, 5 days a week - most other companies class this as 'light trade'. Axminster's industrial range is rated to about 6hrs/day. You can't use any of their machines continuously, and the thermal cutoff in this particular saw is useless. I highly recommend you look at other companies. Ebay for big old saws, even saws 4-6yrs old are heavily discounted from new machines. A felder Hammer isn't that much more expensive and is a hell of a lot more saw. SCM make good stuff, but more expensive. Recordpower/SIP/Charnwood/Fox are all the same chinese equipment, but might have better thermal cutoffs, or perhaps more realistic ratings.
To be honest it looks like total junk, just go for a refund. I would say it looks about hobby quality and even that is debatable looking at the way the insert is fitted. Trade rated should run continuous all day every day, that is what you pay the extra for over a hobby level machine.
