I use it to prevent corrosion between the 2 metals; in the event that it has to come out again in the future. Yes, acts as a lubricant and sealer as well.

Hi Addsorama, I am not 100% sure on the 105 series. Typically pinion seals are all the same. You may want to do some google searching first to see if you can find the FSM for your model. Good luck.

Hi s13konrad, according to the FSM the flange retaining nut should be torqued to 144-173 ft-lbs. The pre-load of the drive pinion bearings (pull-scale) should be 8.4-11lb. Hi there. Yes, I just removed the shims for inspection. They have to be re-installed.
